Unexpected Conclusion

Holding on Until Tomorrow
Summary: Their ambition destroyed, the members of the Shinobi are falling to pieces. The Dark Tournament is far from over, and the journey is just beginning. Lies told. Friendships tested. Loyalties broken. Alliances forged. Sacrifices made. Yaoi and nonyaoi pairings
Disclaimer: I don’t own the characters from Yu Yu Hakusho. I’m just borrowing them for now.
Timeline: Immediately after Kuwabara’s fight with Risho.
Pairings: TouyaxKurama, YuskuexKayko, KuwabaraxYukina, mild ShizuruxSakyo, Shizuru and Kurama friendship (I swear that’s all it’s ever gonna be!) and many other undecided pairings.
Warning: This does contain yaoi, which is a malexmale relationship or a homosexual pairing. If you don’t like that, then don’t read this. There will be other warnings that will come with each chapter.
Current Chapter Warnings: blood, gore, angst, and mild language.
A/N: I know it’s bad of me to start something new when I have so many other unfinished fics, but none of them are Yu Yu Hakusho so I think it’s okay. I just want to warn everyone now, this is the first time I’m writing a Yu Yu Hakusho fic in about five years. I’m probably going to make the characters OOC. This is also the first time I’m using Touya, Chu, Rinku, and the others. With my other two fics, I used just the main cast, and even then I think I left some of the characters out. I’ll try not to interrupt the fic too much with author’s notes but if there’s some stuff that needs clarifiying, I will. And feel free to contact me with questions you might have or to correct me. I’m a very easy going person and I actually like to get criticism. Well, here goes.

Chapter 1 Unexpected Conclusion
The stadium was filled with silence immediately following the announcing of Kuwabara as the winner of the match between him and Risho. An exhausted Kuwabara was being congratulated by an ecstatic Yuskue while Kurama, Hiei, and the Masked Fighter hovered in the background. Their moment of triumph was interrupted by cries coming from the other side.
“Touya?! Touya!” The voice made everyone look. It belonged to Jin, who had somehow managed to drag himself back into consciousness and over to where his teammate lay bleeding and unmoving. “Touya please! You halfta be okay!” Touya was still. Yuskue and Kuwabara stayed where they were, unsure if they should interfere with someone who wasn’t a part of their team. Kurama made the decision for them when he slowly walked over to the side of the ring and jumped down, tightly clutching his chest in pain. Kuwabara and Yuskue followed. Hiei was the only one who hung back.
“Can I see him, Jin?” Kurama asked. Jin looked up, surprised. “It’s all right. I just want to help him.” Jin nodded and Kurama knelt down by Touya’s side with much difficulty. He did a physical examination of the fallen Shinobi warrior. After several minutes of tense silence, he looked up. “He’s still alive. He’s barely hanging on though. Risho’s attack really did a number on him. He’s severely fractured several of Touya’s ribs and his sternum. He would have been all right if Risho hadn’t attacked him. When I stabbed Touya, I missed all his vital organs. I wished to incapacitate him, not kill him. I’ll do all I can, but there’s not very much I can do at this point. I’m sorry.” Jin was silent and his face was turned away from the others. They could hear him sniffling softly.
“Kazuma! Kazuma! Kazuma!” a young voice cried. The others turned and saw that Yukina, Botan, Shizuru, and Kayko were running towards them. Hiei backed away even more at the sight of his sister.
“Yukina!” Kuwabara’s eyes immediately lit up when he saw his love.
“Kazuma are you all right?” Yukina asked worriedly, stopping short of where Kuwabara stood. “I’ve developed my healing powers so I can help you.”
“You…did?” Kuwabara asked, his eyes widening.
“Uh huh,” Yukina nodded.
“Gee thanks Yukina baby! But…” Kuwabara stopped and looked at Jin, who was still turned away and sniffling softly. “Look Yukina, I know I need your healing powers and everything, but I can wait for a while.” The others stared at him. “This guy, Touya was hurt really bad and even Kurama says that there’s not much he can do. I know it sounds kinda strange, but I’d like you to help him. Even though our team fought against his, he’s not really a bad guy. Jin either. They were the two decent guys on the team. Gama was okay I guess but he died and Baken was a real bastard because he hit Kurama when he was unconscious. Risho was an even bigger bastard. Jin and Touya were not that bad. Touya saw that what he was doing was stupid and was on good terms with Kurama even though he lost. And Jin had a hell of a battle with Urameshi and he seemed happy about it. Then Touya tried to stop Risho when we were gonna be disqualified because the committee tournament hates our guts.”
“Risho…this deceit has gone too far,” Touya said, struggling to climb up into the ring despite the injury he had sustained during the fight with Kurama. “Don’t you see we’ll be making a mockery of their sacrifices? Gama willfully gave his life so that we could win…not cheat our way out.”
Risho seemed unaffected by Touya’s powerful words. “Heh, spare me your romantic drivel, Touya.” Touya’s eyes narrowed. Risho turned around to face his teammate. “He fought for the light and now we’re going to enjoy it.”
Touya’s eyes widened in surprise. “But honor…” Risho formed a wristband out of earth and swung it around at Touya. It caught him in the stomach and he went flying, blood spurting out of his mouth.
“Nonsense!” Touya lay still for a moment, struggling to cling to consciousness. The last thing he heard before he was overtaken by the darkness made him sick to his stomach. “We must always keep our eye on the final goal, Touya. That’s why I am the leader and you’re the grunt.” Touya’s head lopped sideways and he was unconscious.
“Touya was trying to keep to whatever honor code the Shinobi follow and Risho didn’t care about any of that as long as he was victorious. Bastard.” Kuwabara spit angrily on the ground. “But that’s why we’ve gotta try and save him. Because it’s not fair that he has to die just because his teammate hit him and hurt him just for the sake of winning. It’s not right.”
Yukina nodded. “I’ll try my hardest to help the poor dear.” She knelt down by Kurama’s side. Then, she gasped. “He’s an…Ice Demon!”
“Yes, that’s right, Yukina,” Kurama nodded, groaning in pain again from his own wounds.
“We must hurry! I can feel his life fading away!” Yukina gasped.
“Tell me what you need me to do, Yukina,” Kurama said.
“Take his clothes off so I can see the extent of damage that has been done.”
“All right.” Kurama gently removed the top portion of the Shinobi garments Touya had been wearing; a dark blue shirt and a white toga-like shirt over it as well as the fishnets that ran down his arms and his wrist-guards. Only now could they see the full extent of the damage done by both Kurama and Risho. The hole Kurama had made was gushing blood and there were several huge, horrible black and blue marks from where Risho had slammed his earth-covered fist into Touya’s sternum.
“Oh how horrible!” Yukina cried, twisting away and willing herself not to cry.
“Peace, Yukina. Please try and focus on healing Touya’s wounds right now. I’m not sure how much longer he’s going to last.” Yukina nodded and turned around. “Can you hold onto him for me please? I have to have him still or else it won’t work.”
“Certainly,” Kurama nodded. He gently placed his hands on Touya’s body and firmly held him down. With much determination, Yukina placed her hand on Touya’s chest and concentrated. The puncture wound from Kurama vanished and Yukina slumped backwards, breathing heavily.
“Are you okay Yukina?!” Kuwabara asked, rushing forward.
Yukina smiled tiredly. “I’m just fine, Kazuma. I only have a little more to heal.” She pressed her hand against Touya’s chest again and concentrated. Soon, the bruises had vanished as well.
“Now only time will tell if he will be all right or not,” Kurama murmured. He gently lifted Touya’s broken body up. “Thank you so much for your help Yukina. I’m going to take Touya to the infirmary to see if they can do anything else for him. Yuskue…would you mind taking Jin up there as well?”
“Me? I uh…” Yuskue caught Kurama’s look and understood; leave Kuwabara and Yukina alone for a while. “Right.” He slowly walked over to Jin. “Hey uh, Jin?” Jin made no answer. “Jin!” There was still no answer. “Come on you bastard! Touya might actually be okay but that won’t do him any good if you’re not healed.” Jin slowly turned around and they could see that his eyes were watery.
“Do ya mean what ya say Urameshi? Is Touya really gonna be okay?” He asked.
“Well, I’m not sure about that but he’s a strong and stubborn guy. I know he’ll fight his hardest to get better.”
Jin smiled weakly. “Yeah, that he is.” He allowed Yuskue to lead him off the field and towards the infirmary. Kurama followed with Touya still in his arms. Hiei went off to do whatever the hell he was planning to do and Shizuru, sensing that her baby brother wanted some time alone with Yukina, dragged Botan and Kayko away to check on Kurama and Touya. Koto was still in shock from the fight and didn’t say a word as the stadium slowly emptied.
“Would you like me to heal your wounds now, Kazuma?” Yukina asked.
“Are you feeling up to it? I mean after Touya…”
“I’m fine now, Kazuma. Thank you for thinking of me though. It did drain some of my energy but not enough to limit me to how much I heal.”
“Okay.” Yukina smiled and got busy healing Kuwabara’s wounds.
To be continued…
A/N: I decided to go back and edit this and cut it off here because the chapter was getting long (and they’re only getting longer) and I didn’t think it’d be good if they got too long. I know it’s a pain in the ass to read long chapters sometimes. This is the edited version of this. I went back and did some rewriting.
