Frustration

Hiei was frustrated. He’d spent the past two weeks confined for questioning about their most recent mission. It wasn’t his fault the demons had used humans as shield. They were still alive, the humans, that is. He was frustrated, angry and simply fed up. He sought out the redheaded kitsune, knowing that he’d be willing to spar, and that would help work out some of his anger, help him forget, for a time, the indignities that Enma subjected him to. Koenma, he knew, had argued with his father that, since the humans had not been killed and their memories had been changed, there was no need to punish Hiei. Enma, however, refused to listen to his son. The demon, he declared, needed to be punished. Two weeks worth. Hiei was pissed, to say the least, but now he was free. And he wanted to fight. The redhead would make an ideal partner, his control over plants adding an extra dimension of danger to their fight, just what he needed at the moment. With an exasperated sigh, he found the kitsune confined to that building he called a “school.” Further frustrated, Hiei sat in the branch of a tree near the school, his arms crossed over his chest as he glared at the sky for being too blue.

Kurama left school as soon as he could, trading a favor to get out of his chore group for the day. He’d felt Hiei looking for him, the angry aura the koorime radiated breaking his concentration. He was relieved Hiei was finally free of Enma-daioh’s torture, and had an idea what he wanted. He wondered, if maybe perhaps, things could lead in other directions as well. His eye had been on the petite demon for a while, and with the detective he’d rebuilt his confidence. He knew that he could convince the hiyoukai, provided they could work out his anger before they were too exhausted to stand, much less anything else. A small part of his brain reprimanded him for wanting to take advantage of his friend, but another, louder part argued that his activities could work well to help relieve frustration and aggravation as well. Pausing at the gates of the school, he looked up into the tree that held the black clad figure, reading the tension in every line. Maybe…but first, they’d have to fight. Concealing a small smile, he walked over to the tree, causing its branches to twitch, alerting the koorime to his presence. Hiei glared at the playful kitsune before leaving his perch. “Took you long enough.”

“I left early, Hiei. I’m sorry I couldn’t get out earlier. Do you have any place in mind or do you want me to choose?”

“Hn…You decide. I want you to start with the advantage.”

Kurama regarded the red eyed demon a moment, “What are you up for?” They both knew he meant more than just their fight. The koorime was well aware of the appetites of kitsune, and was a bit surprised he’d not been approached before.

Hiei glared at the redhead, “I’ll decide later.” All he could think about was working out the pent up anger. Before he could think along those lines, he needed to calm himself down. Not that he was opposed to the idea, but he just couldn’t cope with it at the moment.

The redhead nodded and left quickly, the hiyoukai on his heels, heading to his clearing near Genkai’s temple. As they traveled, he brought out his rosewhip, lashing it occasionally at the koorime as he called the forest’s plants to his aid. He was fighting seriously since that was what Hiei wanted. A silver arc removed branches and vines as it moved closer to the kitsune. Kurama was forced to leap over the koorime to dodge the blinding flash. Hiei growled and moved to block the kitsune, leaping upwards, catching the kitsune’s back with his leg…or at least trying to. Kurama saw the petite demon fly up at him and used his whip to pull him out of the line of Hiei’s attack. A growl, whether of frustration or approval, the redhead wasn’t sure and he didn’t have time to ascertain as the koorime moved to attack again. “Why weren’t you questioned?” Hiei spat out, his voice coldly vicious as his katana swung through the air, just missing the graceful column that connected the kitsune’s head to his body.

Kurama’s eyes widened in surprise at how close the sword had come. He felt the wind break before the blade. “I don’t know. Maybe because I modified their memories.”

Hiei’s glare was ferocious as he brought the shimmering circle again toward the kitsune. Once again, Kurama was centimeters from loosing his head, barely dodging back in time. Hiei’s moves were almost too fast for him to follow, a sign that the hiyoukai was holding back, but not much. It was time to step up his own game, though, or Hiei would be irritated at having to hold back for him. Snapping out his wrist, his whip following, his left hand going to his hair to remove a seed, he called the branches of the nearest tree to grab at the koorime as he threw the seeds at him. With the encouragement provided by his ki, a wandering Jew sprouted against the black covered chest, growing quickly to wrap around the hard packed lithe body of the smaller demon, pinning his arms to his sides as the tree drew the koorime in for what looked like a hug.

With a snort, Hiei looked down at his body. “You expect these Ningen plants to hold me?”

Kurama shrugged, “Not really, I suppose.” He drew another seed from his hair, “But, I thought you’d prefer if I avoided the shimeneki sou.” He allowed his rosewhip to return to its normal state and transferred the seed from his left hand to his right, causing it to sprout. Grass grew to cover his hand and forearm and formed a blade whose sharpness rivaled Hiei’s as he watched the koorime squirm in the confines of the encompassing vines.

With a growl of irritation at how well the plants did hold, Hiei raised his body temperature enough to cause them to wilt, bringing his arms up sharply, snapping the weakened vines. He caught Kurama’s satisfied smirk…or was it appreciative? He wasn’t quite ready for the second possibility yet, though. He brought his sword into motion against the redhead, enjoying the vibrations that traveled down his arms when the two blades met with a dulled thud. The tactile feel of his frustrations being worked out brought a smirk to his lips as he attacked again and again, keeping Kurama on the defensive, forcing him back, not giving him an opportunity to bring plants into motion against him.

Kurama was on the ropes, barely able to stand against Hiei’s almost orgasmic release of aggravation. It was all he could do to keep his living blade strong enough to withstand the steel katana and block the savage blows. He could feel sweat gathering in his hairline and dripping down his neck and back as he struggled to match the koorime blow for blow. While he knew Hiei was holding back on speed, he was not pulling any of his strokes. Missing a block could prove…uncomfortable at the least. He didn’t have time to think, only time to react, and just barely that. His back hit a tree and he no longer had room to back up. The cruel attack continued, his breaths coming in time to the fierce strokes he struggled to block. A wild stroke came at him, over his head, and he dropped to his knees, his blade over his head, as much ki as he could send in to it to strengthen it. To no avail! The grasses ripped apart and his wide green eyes watched as the blade continued, stopping mere millimeters from his nose. He could feel the sudden surge of adrenaline through his body as he looked over at the koorime, moving only his eyes, afraid to move his head.

The expression on Hiei’s face was calm, collected, unruffled, at odds with the kitsune who wore a look of heart stopping fear. With a grunt of either contempt or appreciation, Kurama was uncertain, Hiei sheathed his sword and sat down across from the shocked kitsune. Trying to regain his composure, the redhead asked, “Do you feel better now?”

For some reason, this question irritated Hiei. “No. You’re too weak.” He stood again, his hands clenched by his sides. “I thought you were supposed to be training that detective!” He advanced on the still kneeling kitsune, “But, it doesn’t seem to be doing you any good.” His eyes were burning as his hand fisted into the red locks, pulling the fox’s head back, “Let’s see if you’re good for anything else, Youko.” The name came out a sneer, an insult, a challenge. Hiei brought their mouths together violently, teeth meeting through lips that didn’t have time to part. Kurama’s eyes were wide, white showing around the green as he stared into Hiei’s red eyes, glowing with barely contained rage. As quickly as it started, it was over and Kurama was thrown to the side by his head. “Show me your cave, kitsune,” Hiei ordered, standing akimbo over the sprawled fox.

Silently, quickly, Kurama scrambled to his feet and led Hiei to the nearby cave. He could feel the anger radiating off the koorime, an almost palpable aura of rage and he wondered if his body could withstand that anger being poured into it. He turned to face the hiyoukai as he entered the chamber only to be physically attacked by the smaller demon. His brain protested and he fought back, trying to take Hiei’s advantage away from him. He pushed at the hard chest of the koorime as Hiei’s hands were on his shoulders. One of the koorime’s feet was behind him and Kurama found himself on the ground with the enraged demon half breed on his chest, the redhead’s hands pinned by his head. Again, his mouth was assaulted. The contact was too vehement to be called a kiss, too savage, too animalistic. Kurama managed to get one foot on the ground and pushed, turning them both over, trying to take over the barbarous encounter. A feral growl emerged from the koorime’s throat as he turned them again, straddling Kurama’s chest without breaking their mouths apart. Again, Kurama pushed, trying to use his trapped hands to move Hiei off his chest. The hiyoukai did move, but his hands went to Kurama’s throat, tearing at the uniform that covered the kitsune’s body. “Hiei!” Kurama cried out in alarm.

It was as if cold water had been thrown over the demon. He stopped, his facial expression going from rage to blankness, waking from some half remembered dream. Confused, Hiei’s eyes darted between his hands holding remnants of the pink uniform and Kurama’s bruised lips and wrists. He looked around, seeing the cave for the first time. He looked again at the scraps of fabric in his hands and moved to stand, walking away from the one he’d nearly violated in his rage. At the juncture of the cave and the tunnel that led to it, he spoke, not looking behind him. “You never have to see me again.”

“Hiei, wait!” Kurama felt something vital had been taken from him. He surged up to his knees, his hand held out. The koorime stopped but did not turn around. “I still want to see you.”

Red eyes glanced over the black clad shoulder, “Even now?”

“Yes,” came the simple answer.

“Why?”

“You’re my friend. Does there need to be another reason?”

Black covered shoulders turned slightly, “Friend?”

Kurama met those red eyes as well as he could given that they were still mostly turned away from him, “Yes, friend.” He glanced down, his hand coming to rest in his lap. “I tried to see Enma-daioh, to try to explain what happened. He wouldn’t see me.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know…he didn’t…”

”That’s not what I meant!” Hiei cut off the redhead, now turning to face him fully. “Why did you go to him?”

Kurama’s eyes came up, “He was being unreasonable. You did nothing wrong! You only did what you had to do, and they didn’t remember so it didn’t matter after that.” He took a deep breath, “It also wasn’t just you. We all were there, if one of us was going to be punished, we all should have been!”

“And this from Youko Kurama?” Youko’s reputation for avoiding punishment and justice was well known.

Kurama blushed slightly, “I’ve learned a few things since I’ve been Minamino Shuiichi.”

Hiei’s head tipped to the side and he stepped to lean on the archway that marked the entrance to the cave. “Friend?” he mused. “What do you want from me, then?”

Kurama blinked, surprised at the question. “Only your friendship in return.”

“What if I want something else?”

Again, surprise caused Kurama to blink, “Such as?”

“I still have some frustration to work out.” Hiei stepped away from the wall.

“That could be taken care of, if you want,” Kurama smiled coyly, watching the smaller demon approach him.

“Is that part of friendship?” Hiei asked, his hand coming up to caress the smooth cheek of the kneeling redhead.

“If you wish,” Kurama replied, leaning into the touch, his eyes half-lidded as he tipped his head to look into the red eyes above him.

“Hn,” was the koorime’s verbal response as he bent to gently touch the kitsune’s lips with his own, almost apologizing for his earlier attack. Kurama’s hand came up and covered his where it rested on the warming cheek. Languidly, Hiei explored the soft skin thoroughly before pulling back slightly. “You’re okay with this?”

Kurama smiled, “I just told you I was.” His hand went to Hiei’s cheek and he tried to draw the koorime into another kiss, pouting slightly as Hiei resisted.

Hiei smirked slightly, “You’re not strong enough to dominate me.”

There was a flash of something, a flicker of gold blending with the lust darkened green, quickly suppressed. “As you wish,” Kurama conceded.

A/N I don't own 'em nor do I make any profit off of this...all I get is reviews and I'm a little frustrated as to what it takes to get them. Anyways...this story is the last of the Chocolate arc. It's multichaptered because my muse is a pain...and I want feedback. Don't worry...there's lots more to come...it's no where near finished yet. This story will have two lemons in it...I'm thinking it might be four chapters long...not less, I'm sure, but possibly more. I'm almost finished with the next chapter and will post it after I get feedback....how much? I don't know...probably 3 days. Anyways...Hope you enjoyed and let me know that you enjoyed it! It doesn't take that long to leave a review, y'know.
