Reaching Understanding
Yusuke stared at the retreating back of the koorime who’d…what? What was it? Why was he so distant? Even further away than he’d been before they’d…what?! What had they done? Hurt confusion and anger warred for his attention. Did Hiei regret…? Was he ashamed…? Had he lied? Why? ‘Hiei’s gonna answer! I’m not gonna talk to Kurama about this. He’s gonna tell me what’s going on!' Unfortunately, the increasingly heavy weight of the tape would have to be dealt with first. “Hey, Kuwabara! Could I watch this at your place? My VCR’s broken.”
~*~*~*~
The face of Koenma continued on the screen after the taller teen left the room, “One more thing, Yusuke, and this is important, as it involves a personal debt you owe. The girl’s name is Yukina, and she’s Hiei’s sister.”
~*~*~*~
“I heard you kept Yukina caged with talismans. Explains why my evil eye couldn’t find her. But you let her out. Careless…” Yusuke could hear the words clearly from where he knelt on the ring floor. Hiei was here, in the box with Tarukane and Yukina. He could hear the fat slob of a gang boss stammer, only to be cut off by the solid sound of flesh meeting flesh and then flesh meeting steel. Then, Hiei’s voice continued coldly, “I won’t kill you. Yukina’s worth far more than your pitiful life.”
For the first time, Yusuke heard the soft voice of the ice maiden. It held warmth, and a bit of uncertainty as she stammered, “Th…thank you. Um…Who are you?”
Yusuke could see Hiei now, looking down at him, his eyes unreadable, his expression…not blank, but holding something he couldn’t quite puzzle out. “Oh,” the fire demon answered, “just a friend of theirs.” His expression was uncertain, however.
~*~*~*~
Yukina was now with Master Genkai until arrangements could be made to get her back to the koorime’s floating island. Kuwabara had returned home, as well. Yusuke and Hiei now stood across from each other at the top of the stairs leading down to the city. With a vicious glare, Yusuke turned to leave. He hadn’t resolved any of his feelings. He didn’t trust himself to speak and not say something he’d later regret. A soft voice stopped him, one that held uncertainty he’d seen in that face, “Yusuke…I…I should have told you…”
Anger flared and Yusuke rounded on the petite demon, “Damn straight you should have told me! How the fuck am I supposed to watch your back if you just up and leave like that?! What the fuck am I supposed to think?! Tell me, Hiei!! What the hell was that all about?! All those questions?! Drilling me about what I thought…FUCK IT!” He stood there, glaring at the koorime half-breed, chest heaving in rage, eyes blazing. “Is this your idea of some fucking kind of test?! Or is it a joke?!”
“NO!” Hiei cut him off, meeting the boy’s glare a moment before dropping his eyes.
“Then what?!” Yusuke demanded.
Hiei struggled to find the right words, but before he could begin, Yusuke turned, and with a little less rage in his voice, demanded, “Let’s go. I don’t want to discuss this here.”
Silently, Yusuke led Hiei back to his home, opening the door and gestured the demon in before him. Without a word, they removed their shoes and walked into Yusuke’s room. There, again, the boy closed the door behind them and slumped against it.
“I should have told you what…”
“Why can I hear you in my head?” Yusuke cut him off.
Hiei blinked, nonplussed.
“I could hear you trying to figure out what to say and how to explain. You’re not used to trusting anyone really. Not used to someone you can rely on. Right?”
Hiei nodded, “I think between the jagan and the koorime’s natural ability for telepathy, some kind of bond has been formed between us.”
Yusuke sank to the floor, his knees bent, elbows resting on them. “I meant everything I said, Hiei.” He watched as the koorime moved to kneel between his feet. “It hurt a lot when you just left like that.” He brought his hand up to brush against Hiei’s cheek. “I’m sorry I yelled at you.”
Hiei held that warm hand to his face, “Don’t be. I should have talked to you.”
Yusuke smiled. “Don’t do it again and I’ll forgive you.” He leaned forward and lightly brushed his lips against Hiei’s, a chaste kiss, letting the fire demon know he was forgiven. Then, he kissed him again, with more pressure. He needed reassurance, as well. Reassurance the koorime willingly gave, returning the pressure in the kiss, leaning into the detective, his hand going from the boy’s hand on his cheek to tangle in the boy’s inky hair.
Yusuke pulled back from their kiss, something burning in his eyes. He pushed the koorime away from him and ordered, “Strip!”
Hiei blinked in surprise at the detective, his body moving without conscious direction to obey the order. Mechanically, his hands removed his scarf, his cloak, tank top, his eyes never leaving the brown ones that burned his soul. He watched as the boy stood and removed his uniform jacket and t-shirt, allowing him to once again admire the solid lines of the boy’s chest. In his distraction, he missed the look that passed over Yusuke’s face, one that bordered on a desperation to possess, to claim the petite demon who’d sworn to be his mate, to make that demon understand fully what he thought that meant. Had he seen that look, he would have been prepared for what happened next. A gasp of surprise escaped him as he found himself on his back, his mouth being devoured by the ravenous beast that’d pinned him.
There was no tentativeness or hesitancy in the boy’s body. His hands moved downwards, almost tearing the belts that held Hiei’s pants on his slim body. Though part of his brain tried to protest, Hiei could feel his body surrendering to the boy’s hunger, moving to assist him, to remove his own pants. Yusuke’s mouth left his, leaving him free to breathe, leaving him dizzy, and attacked his neck, sucking hard, biting, leaving marks that would show the next day. Fire burned between them, the room dissolving, the only thing that mattered was their hunger. Hiei found his bare legs pinned to his chest, his body open and vulnerable. “Yusuke,” he gasped out as he felt the head of the boy’s shaft at his entrance, part of his brain noticing that the boy had remembered to use lube.
“You’re mine,” the boy growled out as he thrust his hips forward.
Hiei’s eyes rolled back into his head as the boy’s invasion stretched his body and assaulted his prostate, a mixture of intense pain and pleasure reaching his brain. It was all he could do to breathe under the assault. He could feel his body shaking and there was nothing he could do to stop it as the boy withdrew and sharply thrust in again, repeating the attack on his prostate. He gasped out again, “Yusuke!”
Yusuke’s hand moved from where he held the koorime’s legs to fist in his hair, “You’re mine,” he repeated as he thrust into the body below his. “Everything that matters to you, matters to me,” he panted out in time to his thrusts. His body was moving rapidly to the pinnacle of orgasm as he continued to pound into the body trying to writhe under his.
With a howl of “YUSUKE!” Hiei’s body convulsed and his shaft spilled itself onto his stomach. He could hear the boy call out his name as he snapped his hips forward once more, becoming rigid. The world again became white, sparkling, and he could feel his jagan open again as he fell into the darkness below the light.
When the world resolved itself for Hiei again, Yusuke was still kneeling between his legs, his head hanging, still panting hard. When Hiei moved, the boy looked up at him, “Tell me what happened.” His voice was gentle.
Hiei allowed his body to remain relaxed, “Yukina doesn’t know, and there’s no reason she should. We have different mothers, and she’s an ice maiden…” his eyes dropped to the side. “They’re supposed to keep to their wintry realm.” He moved to sit up, wrapping his arms around the detective, seeking something. Yusuke wrapped his petite demon in his arms and held him close, “It’s been two years since I learned she was missing after the little fool snuck off to frolic with some animal. No doubt that’s when the brokers got wind of her.” His voice was full of self recrimination.
Yusuke snuggled the demon closer, “Did you by any chance acquire that evil eye to find her?”
“Feh!” Hiei snorted out, though his body remained relaxed against the detective. This was what he needed. He needed to be held. It felt good, he allowed himself to think. They sat there until the boy’s stomach complained, causing Hiei to look up at him.
“Promise me something,” the boy said, not relaxing his hold on the demon.
“What?”
“You won’t leave me in the dark, and I won’t leave you in the dark.”
“I won’t…not again.”
Yusuke moved a hand to Hiei’s cheek, “Good, now that’s settled. You hungry?”
“Yeah…I guess…” He felt unaccountably shy suddenly. Yusuke bent down and claimed his lips softly.
“I didn’t hurt you, did I?” he asked as he pulled back.
“No, you didn’t,” Hiei answered quickly. At the boy’s look of protest, he added, “You didn’t hurt me. It felt good. Very good, actually.”
Yusuke smiled, “Okay. I want you to tell me if I ever hurt you or do anything that you don’t like.” He bent down and kissed the very tempting lips, “I love you.” After another long kiss, which was broken by Hiei laughing at him when his stomach grumbled again, he stood up and pulled up his pants which had only dropped to his knees in his haste to claim the koorime and left the room. When he closed the door behind him, he could hear the demon whisper softly, “I love you, too”

A/N It's me again...Run! Hide your children!...okay, maybe not... :D Anyways...Most of the flash back scenes and the dialogue concerning Yukina at the end is cannon (that is, I stole it from the manga)...and rereading volumes 6-7 and now volume 8...that is the one that just came out, I think...yeah...okay...but, I can see how my twisted little storyline just completely fits into cannon...for example, Hiei says that he and Yusuke will take up any slack....and just other little things like that...anyways...I'm easily amused, as you can tell, no? So, amuse me and review! lol (I just admitted I don't own them by crediting dialogue to the manga)
