Even Clod Heart Can Feel
It was a dark night, rain poured out of the sky like a waterfall, thunder boomed like cannons, and lighting whipped at the ground. In a tree, inside the park, a dark mysterious figure sat looking into absolutely nothing. His blazing, cold, blood red eyes looking as if thinking about something. His normally spiky hair now somewhat limp from the rain. This figure looked into the sky; it seemed blacker since Sensui had come to town. Suddenly he was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of someone falling on the ground.
“Ah,” said the girl as she fell to the wet, hard ground. As she got up her body stung for a few seconds from the grass. She was wearing baggy pants that had a few rips on them, a white shirt that showed some of her stomach and had a giant golden phoenix on it, a simple pair of tennis shoes; her hair was a pale ice green, it was in a ponytail but you could tell it was long, and her eyes were a gentle, yet menacing magenta color.
“Ow that hurt,” she said to herself. The guy sat there and watched as the girl wiped off some of the dirt on her clothes. He turned his head as he heard others coming the girl’s way. He looked back at her hoping she would see them so he didn’t have to go in and save her. She stopped brushing herself off and looked up with a somewhat wide eyed look on her face. The girl turned around to be face to face with about four guys. As soon as she turned around one of the guys pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the stomach. She got a surprised look on her face, and took a surprised breath as the knife pierced her skin. The blade went in through her front stomach and came out her back; the blade felt cold to her insides, blood gushing out both entry points covering the sliver of the knife and their hands. When he took the blade out it seemed like he ripped it out, her blood started pouring more freely, flowing over her hands to the waist band of her pants.
The guy in the tree jumped down once the men had left, he knew he could kill them and he should have seeing as they were demons, but this girl needed help fast. He looked at her, she was gasping in pain while trying to stop the bleeding. He picked her up slowly so he wouldn’t hurt her that much. Then as quickly as he stood there he was gone and so was the girl. He reappeared in front of an apartment building. He knocked on a door on the fifth floor, the name by the door said Urameshi.
Inside an apartment Yuske, Kuwabara, Keiko, and Botan were just sitting around doing nothing really. Yuske and Kuwabara were in yet another fight about Kuwabara being stupid, the girls were watching with mild interest. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, everyone stopped and stared at the door for a few seconds until Yuske got up walked to the door and opened it. He was surprised to see Hiei, without Kurama.
“Oh hey Hiei, what’s up?” Yuske asked.
Hiei just grunted and walked in, “Call Kurama,” he demanded. Yuske was about to ask why but then saw the girl, as did everyone else. He nodded still a little wide eyed; Hiei laid the girl on the couch gently. Botan and Keiko ran around the house trying to find all the medical stuff. Kuwabara just stared at her like an idiot, obviously not quite registering what happened to her. Yuske came back in the room, “Kuramas’ on his way.” Hiei nodded, and turned back to the girl. Soon enough Kurama was there helping the girl; they had moved her into Yuske’s room so she could rest peacefully. After about an hour and a half Kurama came back out looking a little grim.
“…….She’s going to be fine, she just needs to rest right now,” he sighed. They nodded and all decided to stay incase she woke up. Later that night Hiei walked into Yuske’s room to check on the girl. He looked at her; she seemed in much less pain. He took this time to look at her more closely; she had bruises and minor cuts all over her body. Anger started to build up inside him, ‘Why would someone do this to a girl?’ even he, the one who thought emotions were weak, the cold one would never do this (to a woman). Despite the way he acted he had a heart.
The next morning in Yuske’s room the girl was stirring. The sky was still dark, and everyone but Kuwabara, Kurama and Keiko were still asleep. Hiei was laying the upper half of his body on the side of the bed. Yuske was sprawled out on the kitchen table, having fallen asleep while eating. Botan had the living room chair. The girl started tossing until she sat bolt upright in the bed, eyes wide. She looked side to side almost frantically (the way your eyes move when you think about something). She looked around and found herself looking at a clock right next to the bed. She started at it for a few minutes until the time sunk in.
“Oh shit,” she whispered to herself as she tore herself from the bed. As soon as she did that she fell flat on her face.
“What the……..” she asked herself rubbing her head. She had tripped over Hiei’s small body. She looked at him, confused as to why he was laying on the same bed as she was. But then came back to her senses, she put her shirt back on, which had apparently come off last night and was out the door, not even realizing she had been in someone else’s home.
She ran to her school, her stomach in only stinging mild pain. As she met her best friend under their tree, her friend looked at her with an odd expression.
“What?” she asked her friend. Her friend pointed to her pants, the girl looked down and saw dried blood. ‘How had that happened,’ she asked herself.
“Come on, Shara we should get you a spare uniform,” said her friend. Shara nodded and followed her friend to the office. After changing and altering the uniform, Shara put her clothes in her locker and walked to class with her friend.
At Yuske’s apartment Hiei was waking up. He looked out the window expecting the sun, but there were only clouds. His eyes then got wide; he just realized that the girl from last night was missing! He looked through the house, waking the rest up. After Hiei told them that she was gone they decide to spread out and find her. Hiei looked high (obviously), jumping from building to building. He was across the street from a school, and decided to check it out. He looked through all the windows but didn’t find her; he decided to wait until they were all out, so he found a tree that was tall enough to see the roof clearly.
“Shara Otsiko (oat-si-co),” said the teacher taking roll. She raised her hand and said, “Here,” in a dull tone. After their first period class Shara and her friend went to the roof of their school. Where they talked about what happened last night. Hiei saw her come out of the building, with someone, and decided to get a bit closer. He stood on the part where the staircase met the roof.
“So, what happened exactly, last night?” her friend asked.
“I don’t really remember……..I remember falling in the park, something really cold, then nothing,” she said. She looked at her friend, “I…..I also remember a guy,” she said.
“A guy?” her friend raised her eyebrows.
“Yea, look Marina I know its cliché and weird but………I did ok,” she trailed off. Hiei looked down at her; a bit of confusion could be seen in his eyes.
“Do you remember what he looked like?” said her friend Marina.
Shara shrugged, “No, not really. All I remember is he had blood red eyes.” Hiei’s eyes widen a little. “Oh really……” Marina said getting a sly look on her face. Shara looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
Instead of bringing her back to Yuske’s apartment he decided to just meet with Botan and Yuske and tell them that he’ll keep an eye on her. In a sudden blink of black he was gone and at Yuske’s.
“Hey Hiei!” shouted Yuske as he came up to his apartment.
“Did you find her?” asked Botan. He nodded.
“Well then where is she?” asked Yuske stupidly.
“At school,” he said.
“……Oh,” Yuske said.
“I don’t think she even knows what happened last night. So…..I was thinking that one of us should just keep an eye on her,” Hiei said in his cold voice.
“That’s a good idea, Botan……” Yuske started.
“No! No, the deity would give herself away. I think maybe someone who can hide themselves better should do it,” Hiei said trying not to sound like he wanted to. Yuske looked at him oddly but then got a smug look on his face.
“Oh, ok I see….,” he said.
Hiei looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
“Ok, you’re right Hiei you would be perfect for the job,” Yuske said smiling broadly like an idiot. With a glare to Yuske, Hiei left.
It was now the end of school which meant that the kids of Sinshobi (sin-show-bee) High School were leaving for home or other things. Hiei was in the tree of the school, which sat smack dab in the middle of the school, waiting for Shara and her friend to leave so he could follow. When the girls finally parted ways Shara got an emotionless look on her face as she walked the rest of the home. When she got home no one was there; her house was a beautiful light blue two story house, with a tree in the front.
She went straight to her room after dropping her backpack off on one of the living room chairs. Hiei jumped into the tree that was in the front. Shara walked into her room and sighed. Her room was big, it was the master bedroom. She had taken it when her mother died. Her walls were white unless you could see the pencil marks; most all the furniture was either black, crimson, dark blue, dark purple, or even denim. She had a window that was shaded by the tree in the front yard, so it never really got hot in her room. She had a king size bed with dark blue comforters and sheets, the comforter had a sliver dragon on it. She had many angel, dragon, demon, fairy, and mermaid statues. She also had a walk-in closet with many different colored and types of clothes, and she also had a big bathroom right next to her room, that you couldn’t get to unless you go through her room so she kept her room locked.
She walked to her closet and pulled out a smock, she also went to one of her many drawers and pulled out a big box. Shara opened it, inside was a bunch of different colored paints, paint brushes, pencils, anything you needed to do art. She picked out a particularly sharp pencil and walked over to one of her walls and started drawing on it. By the time she was done drawing it was the next night, her hand was red and somewhat cramped; she had only stopped to get something to drink or got to the bathroom. Shara took a few steps back and looked at it; it was a drawing of a giant dragon a top a castle. Instead of start painting it she decided to go to sleep and do it when her hands felt better. She walked over to her bed the was in the middle of her room, cause the wall she was working on was where her bed was suppose to be. Once she hit the pillow she was out. Hiei climbed in and looked around, he was impressed with the colors but a little surprised she was so dark. He then walked to the wall she was drawing on and was shocked at how well detailed the picture was. He looked at all her walls and found similar drawings; one was of a devil girl, her upper body resting a top a skull, another one was a wall in two halves, one had an obviously dark angel on top, and a good angel on bottom, and finally the wall where her window was had the picture of a vampire girl on onside, the other a type of worrier girl, and lastly there were two on top and bottom of the window; a dark fairy and a mermaid. He was amazed at all the detail, ‘These must have taken year,’ he thought to himself.
