Hiei's Harem - Pt. 13 - Inheriting

Scene 8 -------------- The Main Camp


* Hiei pauses just concealed in the treeline that forms the edge of the clearing. He pauses to brace himself, knowing the types of reactions he’ll possibly get from the others. When he lifts his eyes again he finds that his pack, gathered around the table, are looking in his direction. ‘Well of course they’d sense you here, ya idiot!” With a low, irritated growl at himself, Hiei places his hands in the cloak’s seldom-used pockets and calmly enters the clearing. He walks steadily over to stand near the center of the clearing and gauges the pack’s reactions as they continue looking at him. Then, after glances are exchanged, Sarista is the first to stand and approach him. The Koorime keeps his silence as he raises his eyes to meet hers.


Sarista- Master,.. will you keep us? The boys told us something about you claiming Mukuro’s..


* This question catches Hiei offguard and irritates him a bit more. When he growls Sarista moves back.


Hiei- Why would you ask me such a d--- stupid question?!


* Hiei is startled out of his temper when he next finds his neck encompassed by arms that belong to a small body that he immediately recognizes. He lifts his arms to embrace River when she sobs.


River- Please.. Don’t leave me, Daddy.. I need you!

Hiei- River,..

River- You’re my Daddy! I belong to you!

Hiei- I’m not going anywhere, Spark.


* She pulls back to look at him tentatively.


Hiei- You heard me.

River- You’ve.. changed.

Hiei- Hn. I’ve got a higher position. Now move back so I can explain.


* He bends and sets the little girl down on the ground. She inches back behind Sarista.


Hiei- By defeating Ooshama I was given the right to claim his fortress. I sent Dagon and the Lynx brothers off to go scout it out. We’ll be moving there.

Celestia- When are we leaving, M’Lord?

Hiei- I’ll let you know.. And stop with the d--- formalities. Now. I may have a higher position and my level has gone up to Quest.. But I am still Hiei. I would have been satisfied to just rule over this region. But no.. Thanks to that d--- bionic b----..


* He pauses a moment to calm himself down again.


Hiei- Lord Mukuro has passed on, but she never removed me from being her heir.


* When Hiei doesn’t get the surprised reactions he thought he would he quirks an eyebrow.


Hiei- Do you understand what I just..?

Sarista- So you’re now a Supreme Lord over her third of Demon World?

Hiei- Hn.

Lily- We can feel the increase of your energy.. But it’s.. bottled?

Sarista- You’ve received Mukuro’s orb of power.

Hiei- Hn.


* He moves to the table to sit down beside Lily. He tries to ignore how the Kitsune positively preens beside him to keep his concentration. He is interrupted from continuing when River squirms into his lap.


Celestia- But you haven’t.. activated it, yet.

Hiei- No. And, yes, I know what I have to do to activate my complete ascension.


* He watches the Wolf hybrid and Sarista exchange furtive glances.


Hiei- I may be presented with the chance to do so someday.. But for now, my path ends here.. It’s enough for me to be in control of this much.

Sarista- You think the other two won’t react when word gets out?


* Before he can answer he watches Staci stand and leave, unable to stay this close to him any longer. Hiei scowls when he feels the fear that radiates off of her. He glances around at the others, then pushes Lily back away from him as he stands. He places River down on the table. With barely a thought he gives her a quick kiss on her lips. When he straightens up it hits him, what he just did, and he glances back down at River. Not knowing what to say, though, he just turns and heads into the cave. Lily looks up at Sarista.


Lily- What do you think the other Lords will think about him having a human for a mate?

Sarista- I don’t think he’ll give a flying whoop about what they think.


* The rest of the pack agrees.
