Chapter 8 Frozen Tears
Jin was woken from his pleasant sleep by the sound of Touya retched for the tenth time that morning, followed by a long string of curses. Several minutes elapsed and then Touya stumbled out, his face incredibly pale.
“For the last time, will you please go to the doctor?” Jin asked.
“I don’t need to see a doctor,” Touya answered crisply, sitting on the couch.
“You’ve been throwin’ up all week. If that’s not a sign of sickness, then I don’t know what is.” Touya remained stubbornly silent. “Touya, please. I just don’t want Kurama to be comin’ after my ass. Besides…” Jin sighed softly. “You’re my friend. My brother. You know I care for yeh, right?”
“Yeah,” Touya nodded.
“I’m just worried about yeh.”
“I know.” There was a long silence. “All right. I’ll go and see a doctor.”
“Good.”
The next morning, the two of them went to the infirmary to see the doctor. Although he was a regular human, he had a vast amount of knowledge about demons and more importantly, demons’ healthcare. He did the first part of the examination with Jin present and then sent him outside to wait while he did the more private part of the examination.
“Well, I think I’ve found what’s wrong with you,” the doctor said after a long period of silence had elapsed.
“What?” Touya asked. “What is it?”
“Touya…I’m not sure how to tell you this. You’re pregnant.” As soon as the words left the doctor’s mouth, Touya felt a wave of dread wash over him.
Oh no. It can’t be true. He thought. Oh please no. Don’t let it be true. He didn’t hear what the doctor was telling him. He felt sick to his stomach. Again.
“Nooo!” he wailed. He turned around and sprinted from the room, barely getting the door open in time. Jin, who was waiting outside, simply watched as Touya sprinted past, nearly a blur.
“Touya?” he asked. Touya was gone. The doctor came out, sighing softly and rubbing his forehead. “Now what be all this that you’ve gone and made Touya upset about?”
The doctor sighed softly again. “It appears as though your friend is pregnant.”
“What?!” Jin fell out of the air and hit the ground with a loud crash. “Pregnant? But how? He’s a guy right?”
“Yes, that’s right, but certain types of male demons, such as Ice Demons have the ability to bear children. It’s actually quite common for male Ice Demons to take a male partner.”
“Oh. But pregnant?! Are you sure?!”
“Yes, I’m a hundred percent sure. I ran all the standard tests and he is carrying a child.”
“Oh dear lord,” Jin breathed. “I’m really gunna kill that bastard Risho.” The doctor stared at him, confused. Jin lowered his voice. “Don’t tell anyone ‘bout this, all right?” The doctor silently nodded. “Touya was raped.”
The doctor’s eyes widened. “Oh dear.”
“I’d bedder go off and try to find poor Touya and make sure he’s okay.” And with that, Jin raced off, praying that he found his friend before he decided to do something stupid.

Touya’s feet barely made any sound on the shortened grass as he ran away. He ran until he felt like his chest would be torn in half.
No no no no no no no!! he thought as he ran. It can’t be true. It just can’t be! But in his heart, he knew that he was carrying Risho’s child. He wished he were dead. Only when he could take no more steps did he stop and fell to his knees.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!” he screamed. It was a scream that could be heard for miles around, a scream that made the birds in the forest take flight.
Chu, Rinku, Shishiwakamaru, and Suzuka just happened to be walking in the forest when they heard a long loud scream.
“Did ya guys hear that?” Chu asked, cupping one of his huge hands to his ear.
“Whatever it was, it didn’t sound good,” Suzuka murmured. Without ever coming to a verbal agreement, the four demons sprinted off through the woods to find the source of whatever had caused that noise.
Jin heard the scream and it made his demon heartbeat quicken. “I’m coming Touya! Just hold on!” he murmured aloud. He set off to find his friend.

Chu, Rinku, Shishiwakamaru, and Suzuka came to the edge of a clearing and stopped.
“Holy…” Chu breathed. “I can’t believe what I’m seeing.” Touya was hunched over in the center of the clearing, sobbing loudly. Tears streamed down his face and immediately froze, turning into perfect miniaturized crystals at his feet. It was heart-wrenchingly beautiful to watch.
“Shit,” Touya whimpered. The others stared. “Shit shit shit shit shit.”
“Fuck Touya, what happened to you that made you cry like this?” Chu wondered aloud. “It musta been something real bad.”
“What should we do?” Rinku asked.
“Well, I’m not sure,” Chu admitted. “I just wish one of his teammates was here. I’m sure they’d be able to handle Touya better than any of us ever could.” The others silently nodded in agreement. They had just decided with a game of rock-paper-scissors who would go and try to find one of Touya’s teammates when Jin came catapulting towards them in midair.
“Oh thank god you guys found him!” he cried when he saw his teammate on the ground. He landed on the ground and, ignoring the others, stepped up to his teammate. “Touya?” his voice was suddenly gentle. The Ice Demon didn’t respond. Jin knelt down next to him. “The doctor told me ‘bout yer condition.” Touya looked up and stared at him, frozen tears running down his face and cutting his delicate skin.
“Jin…what am I going to do?” he asked weakly.
“We’ll think of somethin’. I promise.”
“How am I going to tell him? How can I face him again?”
“I’d be upset if I were you. I’m gunna punch his lights out the next time I see him.” Suddenly, Jin realized that they were talking about two different people. “OH! I see who you mean. Well, it’s not gonna be easy, but you’ve gotta tell him.”
“Uh, excuse me, but can you blokes tell us what’s going on here?” Chu asked. “Like what the hell happened to Touya?”
Jin looked over at Touya. “Should I tell them?”
“Might as well. They’re involved now.”
“Right.” Jin looked back at Chu, Rinku, Shishiwakamaru, and Suzuka.” Here’s the basic story. “Risho raped Touya, but Touya loves Kurama and now Touya’s pregnant but ‘tis Risho’s child he’s carryin’ and not Kurama’s so now he’s wonderin’ just what the hell he’s gunna do and more importantly, how he’s gunna tell Kurama. ‘Cause Kurama knows that Touya was raped but he doesn’t know that Touya is pregnant. He probably doesn’t know that Touya can get pregnant. Hell, I didn’t know that Touya could get pregnant until it happened.”
“Yes, I have heard that there are certain types of male demons who are able to get pregnant,” Suzuka murmured.
“You need to tell him the truth. It might make him hurt a wee bit, but he’s gunna find out sooner or later, right?” Chu said. Touya silently nodded. “I think it’d be best if he heard it straight from you.”
“I guess,” Touya murmured.
“You guess?! How about showing a bit of certainty?” Jin cried.
“All right.”
“So you’ll do it? You’ll tell him?” Touya silently nodded. “Then let’s go!” Jin grabbed Touya by the arm and started dragging him off towards the hotel.
“What…now?” Touya asked.
“Yeah. The sooner the better, right?” Touya silently nodded. “Are you guys comin’ or what?” Jin asked, turning to Chu, Rinku, Suzuka, and Shishiwakamaru, who were standing motionless.
“This really isn’t our business,” Shishiwakamaru said silkily.
“It ‘tis now since yah went and saved Touya from doin’ anythin’ stupid,” Jin snorted.
“I’m comin’ with ya,” Chu said, stepping forward. Rinku was quick to follow his teammate.
“Are yah two pretty boys just gunna slink away with your tails between your legs?” Chu asked.
“As I said before, this is not our business,” Shishiwakamaru answered coldly.
“Bloody cowards,” Chu muttered. Shishiwakamaru glared, his pretty face suddenly becoming wrinkled and ugly. They sulked after Chu and Rinku as they made their way to the hotel. For the entire journey, Touya was murmuring to himself, trying to figure out just how he was going to tell Kurama the truth.

Yuskue was starting to get annoyed with all the interrupting knocks. He ignored the latest one at first, but the pounding only got louder.
“Urameshi! Open the door at once. We gotta speak to ya now! It’s urgent!” a very familiar voice yelled. Yuskue threw open the door.
“What do you want?!” he demanded.
“I told yah, we’ve gotta talk,” Jin said in a serious voice. Yuskue stared. Jin serious?! He wasn’t ready for a serious Jin.
“What’s wrong?” Yuskue asked.
“Is Kurama there?” Jin asked.
“Yeah…”
“We need to talk to him.”
“Okay…”
“Yuskue, please,” a softer, tired-sounding voice said from beside Jin that took Yuskue by surprise. He was even more surprised when Touya brushed past his teammate. Dressed in loose clothes, his eyes swollen and cut, he was a mere shadow of the proud Shinobi he had once been. Yuskue silently let him pass. The Shinobi silently walked to the couch where Kurama sat with the girls.
“Touya!” he gasped, rising and showing his true feelings for Touya for the first time in public. Icy blue eyes clouded with many different emotions raised up to look at Kurama.
“I’m pregnant,” he said, tears streaking down his face. The others stared and cried out in shock and horror.
“Oh my god,” Kurama breathed, weakly sinking onto the couch. Touya fell to all fours.
“Kurama…I’m so sorry,” Touya whispered. He began sobbing softly. Tears froze on his face while others fell to the floor in miniaturized crystals.
“I’m confused. I’m confused about this whole damn thing,” Yuskue muttered. “You can’t be pregnant. You’re a male. Unless you’re a cross dresser.”
Touya managed to glare weakly, though it wasn’t very threatening. “I am one hundred percent male.”
“So then how could you get pregnant? It doesn’t make sense.”
“Actually, Yuskue, it does make sense. You see, there are certain male demons who can get pregnant. They often choose to mate with a male instead of a female. Ice Demons are one such case.”
“Oh. But who…” Yuskue stopped in the middle of his sentence. His eyes narrowed. “Risho.” Touya squeezed his eyes shut, willing himself to not cry any more.
“That bastard is dead,” Hiei growled softly from his usual spot in the window frame. “If there is one thing that I cannot stand, it’s what Risho has done to Touya.” Touya wished he could curl up and die. Kurama rose from his place between Shizuru and Yukina on the couch and walked over to where Touya was huddled on the floor. He was aware that there were several pairs of eyes on him. Ignoring them, he squatted down next to Touya. A warm, gentle hand went on his back. Touya jumped and stared up at Kurama, who was smiling sadly.
“It’s okay,” he murmured. “You didn’t want this to happen. No matter what happens, I won’t leave you. We’ll get through this somehow. I promise.” Touya just sighed softly.

A/N: I’m sorry if Touya acted OOC in this. I think that if you had found out you were pregnant by the man who raped you, you’d be a little upset. The stuff about the Ice Demons is stuff I made up because I don’t know a lot about Ice Demons.
