Chapter 8
Sorry, sorry, sorry for the long gap. I actually started getting reviews to tell me to hurry up. I guess that’s a sign I need to get my butt in gear, huh?
I could’ve posted this a while ago but the chapter seemed too short and it felt like something was being left out. But I managed to make it a little longer and hopefully it’s ready for posting now. If not, oh well.
She-wolf, the question you asked in you last review about my Kuwa/Hiei story, I have no title for it yet. I have some ideas, one I’m thinking about is “Peace from a Picture” or something like that. I’m not going to start posting it until it’s finished or very close to being finished.
Okay, onward Ho!
Chapter 8
So after Yusuke had finished with his tongue-lashing to Kuwabara and had returned to Dawn upstairs, and Hiei had given him a quick nod meaning he was glad he’d finally woken up and left, Kurama sat back next to his boyfriend, hand in his until he fell back to sleep.
Kuwabara woke up the next day in time for lunch. But this one was a little different for him, seeing as he was being fed through a tube. Already he was strongly disliking his stay at the hospital.
He watched Kurama eat his food that Hiei had brought him with envious eyes. Kurama saw Kazuma watching him eat and smiled gently at him. He put it aside and kissed his eyes. “Don’t worry, love. Two more days and they’ll be able to take that tube out. Then you’ll be able to eat all the bacon cheeseburgers you want.”
Kuwabara stared at him silently. Kurama bit his lip and looked down, avoiding his gaze.
“Um…Kazuma…there’s something I need…to tell you. About Shizuru.”
He seemed to take the news fairly well.
Seemed to anyway.
He stared at Kurama in the same blank stare he had before. He looked at him for a very long time, then moved his gaze to the ceiling.
Kurama took his hand in an effort to comfort him. “Kazuma…-“
But Kuwabara pulled his hand away and turned his head away from him. Kurama knew from past experiences of when Kazuma had been upset, that this meant he wanted to just be left alone.
Kurama sighed and got up. “All right, Kazuma. I’ll leave you to yourself for a while. If you need me I’ll be upstairs visiting Dawn. I’ll be back in about an hour.”
When Kurama entered Dawn’s room Yusuke took one look at his face and knew that he had just told Kuwabara about his sister.
“He took it that well, huh?”
“He just wants to be left alone for a while.”
Hiei scoffed. “Are you sure that ‘s a good idea fox? Leaving him all alone.”
“What do you mean?” Yusuke asked.
“Toshiba is still out there somewhere. No one’s been able to find him.”
“So? You don’t seriously think he’d come after Kuwabara again do you?”
“Why not?”
“Not while Kuwa’s in the hospital! There’s too many people here and he’s gotta know the cops are lookin’ for him.”
“That doesn’t mean he can’t find a way to sneak in and take him when no one’s looking. He’s probably watching him, waiting for the right moment to grab him.”
Yusuke sighed and thought about what Hiei said. ‘Well he probably wouldn’t get very far while Kuwa’s still hooked up to the resperator. But once they take him off it… Maybe we should have some sort of guard outside his room or something.’
Yusuke looked up. “Hey, where’d Kurama go?”
Hiei smirked at him. “Running back to his mate.”
Voila! There, ya'll happy now? Only a couple more chapter left. Whew!
