Hiei's Harem - Pt. 10 - Initiating

Scene 7 ----------- The Village


* As Hiei makes his way through the village he remains unbothered. Although everyone living here knows and gives him the respect he deserves, he's never felt any desire to bed any of them. Except the three Lynx brothers. All three of which he is now very intimately familiar with. When he reaches their triangle of huts he pauses to watch Kumataro's daughter, Darieth, play with her young cub. The month-old boy senses the familiar presence, toddles over to him, and holds his chubby hands up.


Syndari- Papa!


* The action stuns both of them until they hear chuckling. Kumataro is leaning in the doorway of his hut watching. Darieth blushes and hurries to gather her son up.


Darieth- Oh dear.. No, Syndari.. Master Hiei isn't your papa.


* She looks at Hiei.


Darieth- I honestly have no idea where he..

Kumataro- It's natural for a child to seek out a Father.


* Hiei starts on past Darieth, then pauses a moment to half glance toward her, before continuing on over to look up at Kuma.


Kumataro- Shall I summon Hab and Cou? They're down by the river.

Hiei- Momentarily. We must talk first.


* Kumataro nods and holds the thick curtain aside to grant his Alpha entrance. Hiei turns to look toward Darieth again.


Hiei- Take your cub for a walk.. We'll be discussing things I don't want you to hear, Girl.


* Kumataro tilts his head and wiggles one of his tufted ears as he watches Darieth leave hesitantly. The Lynx then follows Hiei inside.


Kumataro- Mind telling me what..?

Hiei- Who is she seeing?


* Hiei moves to the couch and sits. Kumataro crosses his arms as Hiei looks up at him.


Kumataro- Ex-excuse me?

Hiei- I didn't mumble, Daddy.. She's seeing someone outside the barrier.. I don't recognize the scent.

Kumataro- She.. hasn't told me.

Hiei- Surely you are aware of this.. The scent is all over her.


* Kumataro lowers his eyes, then moves to sit down in one of the arm chairs.


Hiei- You have.

Kumataro- Hai.

Hiei- But you don't feel it necessary to inquire..?

Kumataro- I'm still trying to figure out how to bring it up, sir.. My daughter is old enough to seek out her own mate.. Please, give me time to deal with her?

Hiei- If she's compromising the safety of this village you'll bring her to face me.


* Kumataro recognizes Hiei's authority and looks at him, then slowly nods.


Hiei- Enough about that, then. Summon those brothers of yours.


* Kumataro closes his eyes a moment.


Kumataro- They're already on their way back. They're bringing fish for dinner.

Hiei- This isn't a social visit, cat.


* In a couple minutes Habataro and Coutaro enter, laughing with each other about whatever they were discussing. Habataro calmly takes a seat on the couch beside Hiei. Coutaro takes the basket of fish over to the sink.


Habataro- How's the new family doing, Master?

Hiei- Well. As I told Kuma, this isn't a social visit.. Forget the d--- fish, Cou. They'll keep till we're done here.


* Coutaro quickly comes over to take the other armchair. Hab looks seriously at Hiei.


Habataro- Is there a problem, sir?

Hiei- No. I just need to know how many alphas are in this region.


* All three brothers rub their chins thoughtfully. Coutaro moves to Kumataro's desk, finds a notebook and pen, then moves to sit on the floor at the coffeetable. Kumataro moves down beside him. Hiei sits quietly, watching the three brothers make a list as they chat amongst themselves. The Koorime honestly wonders how these three can actually make sense out of their communication when they all chatter at the same time as they do. When they are done and satisfied with the list they've compiled they all look at Hiei again.


Habataro- These are all that we know of.

Kumataro- The main ones you'll need to be concerned with.

Coutaro- We've listed them according to their strengths.


* Hiei takes the short list to scan it.


Hiei- This is it?

Kumataro- Like I said, these are the main alphas.. Most of them have been established alphas for many years now.

Hiei- Ten..? Only ten?

Coutaro- That's it.. Of course there are dozens of lesser packs under some of their territories. But they'll fold as soon as their leaders do.

Hiei- Then why the h--- has it been so hard for one to be the Ultimate?


* Habataro and Kumataro look at each other. Then Habataro shrugs.


Habataro- For the most part, they're all basically about the same level.. Many scuffles have broke out among us all, but they usually just end in stalemates.


* Hiei stands and tosses the notebook on the table.


Hiei- If this is true..

Coutaro- We've never felt any of them would be difficult for you to handle.

Habataro- Sir, trust me. All you would have to do is some kind of demonstration to prove your power.

Hiei- Demonstration?


* He looks back down at the list again as he leans on the table. He recognizes the top name now that he reads the list more closely.


Hiei- You mean like taking out this freak at the top?

Kumataro- Matsua.

Hiei- Hn. His name makes my blood boil.

Habataro- He's actually come the closest in the past few years.


* Hiei looks at Hab.


Hiei- How close?

Habataro- The only ones he hasn't been able to buy out were myself, Ooshama here..


* He taps the second name on the list.


Habataro- And this one.


* He moves his finger down to the third name.


Hiei- Sylk.. What the h--- type of demon is he? Some kind of worm?

Coutaro- Actually, he.. is a she.


* Hiei scowls at Coutaro.


Hiei- Are you telling me that this.. alpha.. is a b----?

Kumataro- Hers is the only pack in this region that's all females.


* Hiei straightens up.


Hiei- Are they Koorimes?

Habataro- No. They're a few different species.. They're what's left of a pack that was attacked by a rival pack about eight years ago. The attack took out most of their older males.

Kumataro- When Sylk rose up to take her mate's position all of the younger males that survived left to become rogues after she chased them out.

Coutaro- She's got a nasty attitude, that one. Especially toward males.


* Hiei sits back down on the couch. It's now his turn to rub his chin in thought.


Hiei- How far away from here is her pack?

Kumataro- Not far, actually.

Habataro- Perhaps a couple days' journey.

Hiei- Hn.

Coutaro- If you're going to make a move on her first, you're almost out of time.


* Hiei looks at Coutaro blankly.


Coutaro- Spring is nearly over.

Hiei- I'm not interested in claiming any more females, Idiot. I have enough to deal with now.

Habataro- If you're going to be the Ultimate you'll have to face her eventually.


* Hiei looks at Habataro scowling.


Hiei- If she agrees to align herself with me I'll just turn her pack over to you three to deal with.


* Hiei smirks as he stands to leave. The three brothers just blink at each other in disbelief. When Hiei leaves the hut he isn't too surprised to find Darieth crouched beside the doorway. She raises up to her full height quickly.


Darieth- Uh.. M-my son needs a change of clothes.. I was j-just..

Hiei- Hn.


* Hiei remembers Kumataro's request and just walks off. Darieth swallows and hurries around the corner of the hut to where her cub is playing in a patch of mud. She gathers him up and decides to head toward the river to clean him off.
