CHAPTER6______________________________________
Fire spread through the sky, a blue fire. Kurama and Yusuke's mouths dropped open at the site, and both looked towards the apparent source - the volcano.

"Holy shit." Kurama eyed Yusuke, the younger boy obviously shocked by something. "Kurama, look at the mouth of the volcano." He pointed. At the top, it was Hiei - Hiei was there! The smaller demon seemed nonchalant, sitting on a dragon of fire. The body of the dragon wrapped around the volcano, his head at Hiei's hand where it was being petted.

"I guess we should head there." Kurama's voice was almost sarcastic, maybe to cover up worry.

"Right behind ya."

Hiei scanned the area now light up by his flames in the sky. Those weak demons were running; everywhere there were weaklings running. He was nothing like them, those cowards. He had totally control right now, something he had been missing for a long time. He didn't want to give it up again. Never again would he let weaklings penetrate and weaken him too. In midst of all the chaos, he could see two insignificant figures running towards him instead of away.

He stopped petting the dragon, hand still as he shifted his gaze to it. He should be burning, no? No. He had the power to control it. Power meant everything. He couldn't believe that for a while he had almost forgotten that. Maybe he had never forgotten, but simply let other contaminate him. He could still see the filth on his skin that no amount of shed blood could cover. He could fix that. He could control that.

Blood was the only thing that was clean. But no matter how much blood will be shed, Hiei knew nothing could wash away the semen, the sweat, and more importantly the weakness. The weakness that was something he acquired while on this punishment Koenma sentenced him to. The weakness that made him forget who he really was and who he longed to be.

The weakness that made him believe he could be controlled.

++++++

The flames that enveloped the sky turned a crimson red before disappearing altogether. Yusuke and Kurama halted their running.

"Something's not right."

Yusuke wrinkled his brow, keeping his eyes on the fire demon, "What do you mean?"

"Hiei's Jagan, it's closed."

"But he's controlling the dragon."

"Exactly."

"Well, we better go take a look."

Before Kurama could answer, Yusuke already took off in Hiei's direction. What could have happened to Hiei while he was gone?

++++++

They were always underestimating him. They thought he was weak. He didn't want any more of that. No more. He felt a liquid warmth move down his entire arm. The dragon was moving - he could feel it. It felt like raw power; maybe he would thank that fool that gave him this little power boost. He had no father. His eyes shifted to the specks that were clearly becoming people he knew - Yusuke and Kurama. He felt more movement from the dragon - it was heading towards them.

He surprised himself when he didn't stop the dragon, instead watching as it slowly made its way towards the two. Or maybe it wasn't surprising at all, and he that's why he was letting it happen. Because maybe, deep down inside, he wanted to rid of the two that came too close; so close that the walls he spent years building were beginning to crumble and he didn't want that. That was the only icy part of Hiei, his walls; walls that refused to be melted by any desire or compassion.

He was nonchalant when the fighting started. The adrenaline no longer pumped through his veins as he watched rose whips and Rei guns flew through the air. There was only one conclusion that he came to – they were holding back. More youki flowed to his arm into the dragon. No one was going to underestimate him. He felt a presence appear behind him, but paid no attention, it was that demon again.

“Hiei, finish them off.”

No one.

A/N: Notice how I casually avoid writing a fight scene ^^. Hope it wasn't that bad and you liked it - next chapter is the last one.
