Shadow Lover- Epilogue

~*~Sorry everyone it has been some time since my update… Mostly because I went out of town, and ended up having to stay longer than I planned because of the death of a family member, and by the time I got back school had started. Well since my return I have been catching up on reading fics by authors I love here on AFF and so now I finally have the time to start writing this Epilogue, and to get started on the story “Saikai No Chi To Bara.” Now that story will be updated slowly, as for one the chapters will be long, and they will be written as the story reveals itself to me. I know the basics of what is going to happen in that one, but it is going to be a kind of love/drama story. I believe all of the main characters will make an appearance in that one. Not too sure though, but I do know for sure Kuronue is definitely going to be in it, as well as Yusuke, Konema, Botan, Kuwabara, and Yukina. As for this story… this is the final chapter to it… whether or not there will be a sequel… one that tells the life of Kurama and Hiei trying to build a life together after all of this. If I do decide to write the sequel I will have to see if I can balance it with Saikai… if not then I will work on it when I receive ideas, but won’t post it until Saikai is done. For now this is the end of Shadow Lover. Though I just may surprise you guys with a one shot that has to do with a “secret” Kurama is once again keeping from Hiei… and here’s a little hint… it has to do with the first scene of Shadow Lover, but has nothing to do with Hattori… but a lot to do with Kurama. I do hope you enjoy the Epilogue… here’s a warning… Hiei… is definitely OOC in this, meaning extremely out of character… he’s going to be showing a lot of emotions… a whole lot… and as for Kurama… ::Smirks:: Just wait and see. Please review… and thank you all for your reviews of the last chapter and for sticking with me throughout this story. ~*~

It had been the same for the past month. The figure on the bed lay there with eyes unseeing, a hollow empty shell of emerald green pools that had once been so full of life and love, of happiness and intelligence now unseeing, now so empty that if it wasn’t for the slow rise and fall of the clothed chest, one would believe that figure on the bed was dead. Red hair fanned out about the pillow where Kurama lay… he hadn’t moved since his release from the hospital when he had been set free with the doctors shaking their heads. No one had known what was wrong with him. No one had known what was keeping him from speaking, from responding to those who cared about him.

In the mind that was Kurama one would believe he would find peace when his eyes finally shifted closed, that he would find peace in his sleep, the one place no one could hurt him, but that wasn’t the case for the once vibrant man. No… sleep was the place of nightmares, the place where the horrors of his own doings forced him awake and screaming, Yukina and the others rushing in to calm him even as dangerous plants swirled about the bedroom.

Even now his friends tended him, Yukina wiping his damp forehead with a towel, as Yusuke and Kuwabara entered the bedroom, closing the door behind them. Her soft eyes raised and she looked to her friends, seeing the question on their worried faces. She sighed and turned her eyes back to Kurama and lightly caressed his hair. He blinked but nothing more before she shifted and stood moving to a chair in the corner as Yusuke and Kuwabara approached the bed.

“How is he?”

Yukina’s eyes rose to look at Yusuke and her eyes still held that deep sadness that had been within them since Kurama had come home.

“Nothing’s changed. He woke up screaming again last night, the horror in his eyes…” Yukina’s eyes filled with tears and she welcomed the embrace from Kuwabara as he rushed to her side.

“It’s okay Yukina… you’re doing everything you can.”

“I know… it’s just so hard. You were there Kuwabara; you saw the look on his face. When we finally calmed him he just became that empty shell again. He never went back to sleep, not once. It is unhealthy… he’s going to kill himself if he keeps this up. I treasure my gift to heal… but what good is it if I can’t heal one of my friends?”

“Has he been eating?” Yusuke sat in an empty chair his eyes on the bed. He could hardly believe this was Kurama. He looked so lifeless, so empty, as if all he was waiting for was death.

“No… we still have to force liquids into him. Genkai says that if we stop he will die of starvation. He’s already lost twenty pounds, and if he loses anymore…”

“Damn it… I just don’t get it… the mark isn’t even on him anymore… we killed Hattori, and still he’s not better.”

“True Yusuke… but I’ll tell you what bothers me… is that the whole time Kurama has been like this the shrimp hasn’t once come here to check on him. It’s like he doesn’t even give a care about Kurama.”

“That’s not fair Kuwabara… Mukuro called Hiei to her side as soon as Hiei healed. He’s been there since.” Yukina whispered softly. She knew that Kuwabara meant well, but she didn’t want him blaming her brother for this. Hiei loved Kurama.

“I’m sorry Yukina… I just feel that he could have at least made an attempt to come to see him. It’s been a month.”

Before Yusuke could even open his mouth to say a word the curtains fluttered then settled once again. Kuwabara sighed before standing and started toward Kurama’s bedside, when a voice froze him in his place. Looking up everyone looked toward the source of the voice and no one moved, or even thought about speaking.

“Everyone get out.”

“Hiei...” Yukina whispered seeing the look on her brother’s face. She was sure that he had heard Kuwabara, was sure he had heard everything, and yet his eyes was only on Kurama.

“Why you… Shrimp you have no right ordering us around!”

“I will not tell you again.” Hiei’s gaze flickered from Kurama to look at Kuwabara, the emptiness in them only seen and understood by Yusuke and his sister, but there was an underlying glare he gave Kuwabara … one that said death if his orders weren’t followed.

“Yukina take them and leave.”

“Why I should….!” Kuwabara rolled up his sleeve and made a step toward Hiei, but it was Yukina’s hand on his chest that made him stop. Looking to her he frowned slightly.

“Yukina!”

“Kuwabara you can’t! You don’t understand…”

“What’s there to understand? The shrimp comes back and just commands everyone to leave Kurama’s bedside. Where the hell has he been each night Kurama has woken up screaming? Where was he when his fever almost killed him?! What gives him the right to come in and just think he can send us away?”

“Kuwabara… Yukina’s right… you don’t understand. Let’s just go.” Yusuke stood and made his way toward the door.

“Then someone tell me something so that I may understand, because I don’t think it’s right for us to just up and leave Kurama like this.”

“Kuwabara please…” Yukina pleaded. She knew if he said anything else Hiei was going to attack. She could feel the vibes rolling off of him; he felt the need to protect his mate, the need to have everyone else away from him. If they didn’t leave Hiei was going to snap.

“For you Yukina and only for you.” Kuwabara glared at Hiei before allowing Yukina to pull him from the room.

“Yukina…”

Yukina froze and turned around to face her brother. Unlike everyone else she could feel his pain, could feel his sorrow at finding Kurama like this. Bowing at the waist she spoke softly.

“Yes Hiei?”

“No matter what happens… no matter what you hear… do not let them come up here. If they enter this bedroom I will not be held accountable for what I do… not even to the one you want as your mate.”

“I understand…” She turned to leave, but it was Hiei’s voice that stopped her yet again.

“Yukina… you have my blessing. I don’t like him, but I do not know many people who would attempt to stand up to me… especially a ningen. I also believe you deserve your happiness… even if in the end I do not get mine.”

“Arigatou oniisan.” Yukina bowed before turning and shutting the door behind her. Making her way downstairs where she found Yusuke sitting on the couch and Kuwabara pacing she sighed and lowered herself into a chair. To be truthful she was glad for the break. She was exhausted.

“Will you calm down stupid? You have no idea what almost happened in there do you?”

“Shut up Urameshi! Don’t patronize me! I know damn well what just happened. Hiei as usual is being a selfish bastard.”

“You really are an idiot!” Yusuke jumped up and glared at Kuwabara getting in his face.

“For your information you dumbass, Hiei has staked his claim on Kurama. He had every right in the world to order us out of that room!”

“What the hell are you talking about Urameshi and who the hell do you think you are calling dumbass?!”

“You! God how stupid can you be? You’d think after being around demons, and knowing I am half demon, hell even after falling in love with one you’d have the common sense to brush up on your demon lore! Even I hate doing research, but once I knew what I was, at least I was smart enough to do some research! Hiei has claimed Kurama as his mate! That is why Hiei damn near died at Kurama’s hands. He doesn’t want to live without him! God how stupid can you be?! Hiei commanded us to leave because he wants to be alone with the man he wants as his MATE!”

“Oh…”

“Both of you please calm down… Kuwabara… Hiei has never cared about anything… except for me. He is my brother, and I know him better than anyone. He’s in love with Kurama… and by you being so close to Kurama right then with him being so sick Hiei felt threatened. I am not surprised if he doesn’t want anyone near him, though I have a feeling that right now Hiei is going to try to force Kurama out of his shock.”

Yusuke looked up at that, while Kuwabara just sat there silent trying to take everything he just learned in. Yusuke rolled his eyes at him, before looking back to Yukina.

“What do you mean?”

“I think Hiei feels that he knows why Kurama is the way he is… and if I know my brother right things are not about to get pretty up there. Hiei is probably feeling a lot of things right now… fear, love, and anger mostly. The anger stemming from the fact that he almost gave his life up for Kurama to get away from Hattori… only to return and find him worse, and now he feels he has no choice. He’s going to break Kurama the only way he knows how to. In other words… he’s going to force Kurama to feel or say something.”

“Will he hurt him?” Kuwabara asked not really trusting a pissed off Hiei alone with Kurama.

“No… I don’t think so.”

“Hm…” Yusuke said nothing but looked toward the ceiling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hiei didn’t dare move; he just allowed his eyes to stare at his fox. This was not what he expected to find upon his return. Mukuro had called him to her as soon as he was released. He had gone to her, and she had spent the past month training him and forcing information out of him. She had heard what he had done, and she wanted to know if the rumors of him wanting Kurama were true. He had given her the truth, knowing to lie would be futile, she would find out eventually anyway. She had accepted it, and even offered a place for Kurama to be at his side in her palace, much to Hiei’s shock. When he had questioned her about it she shrugged saying that she figured if she accepted Kurama then there would be no mutiny with her second in command. Hiei knew there was more to the story than she was letting off. He believed she knew his feelings for the fox even before he did, but he didn’t question her about it.
At his return he had leapt into Kurama’s tree and was shocked at what everyone was saying about Kurama’s condition. What hurt more though were the words from Kuwabara. It wasn’t as if anyone had sent him notice about Kurama’s condition. How was he supposed to know it was worse than it had been before he left? At the mentioning of the nightmares though, he knew in his heart that it was what Kurama had said to him that had him in shock. He knew truthfully that guilt was killing Kurama and self pity. Nothing more, nothing less.
Narrowing his eyes he moved away from the wall and walked toward the bed. He felt like weeping, he felt like screaming, and still another part of him felt like beating the living hell out of Kurama for being so goddamn selfish. Taking a slow deep breath he lowered himself into the chair at Kurama’s bedside, cringing at the lifeless eyes that didn’t even look at him, though he was in his line of sight. It was as if Kurama was seeing right through him.
“Is this what you want fox? Is this it Suuichi? This is the thanks I get for saving you? This is the thanks I get for loving you? You selfish bastard… even in your human form you are no different from that cocky Youko. Goddamn it Suuichi say something! I deserve at least that much!”
Nothing. Those eyes still stared at him unseeing. It was as if even Hiei couldn’t reach into the depths of hell that Suuichi had locked his mind into.
“What of Youko? What of what he wants? What of your heart and what it wants? Damn you for this. It’s not fair damn it! I released you from him, I collapsed into unconsciousness and didn’t even get to see the bastard die at Youko’s hands for you and now you lay there a lifeless shell of the being I fell in love with!” Tears well in his eyes and when he received no answer, his anger knew no bounds, his heart was breaking, and for once Hiei feared defeat.
“I won’t lose you damn it! Not now! Not after I laid my life before you! I heard your words, and yes they hurt damn it coming from you, but not as much as this hurts! You think those words could really destroy me? It was nothing I hadn’t heard before! Destroy what I feel for you?! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK ME THAT WEAK?! ANSWER ME YOU BASTARD!”
Hiei slapped him even before he could think of what he was doing. Still no reaction came. Those eyes were still empty, as if Suuichi could feel nothing. Growling Hiei yanked Suuichi from that bed holding him up by his shirt. The fury rolling through him sent his youki spiking through the house, everyone could feel it.
“Yukina…” Yusuke looked up worried as he heard all the yelling and felt Hiei’s youki spike. This was dangerous business… and even he felt unsure at that moment.
“We cannot go up there… no matter what we hear… Hiei will kill you both. I made a promise to keep you down here.”
“YUKINA! He’s going to kill him!”
“No he won’t… Suuichi has a choice to make, and this is demon business between them and we cannot interfere. It would only get us killed.” Yusuke whispered clenching his fists. He felt just as Kuwabara did a little, he wanted to run up there and stop Hiei, but he knew he would die before he stepped twice into the room.
“Not you too Urameshi!” Kuwabara plopped down on the couch clenching his fists and mumbling under his breath.
Yukina looked up at the ceiling tears in her eyes, her hand over her heart. She just hoped her brother knew what he was doing.
Please be careful Hiei.
“Goddamn you! You have no right to hurt over those words! You have no right damn it! If I am not lying beside you broken because of it why do you care?! ANSWER ME?!” Hiei shook the hell out of him before flinging him away from him and to the floor in disgust. He had never felt so worthless, never felt so utterly used and unwanted as he did right now. Not even as an infant when he was snatched from his mother’s arms compared to this.
“You bastard… I hate you. I hate you for making me weak enough to give you my heart… for claiming something you now throw back in my face.” Moving over to him Hiei picked Suuichi up and laid him back on the bed, but in a sitting up position. Moving on the bed he straddled him and removed the headband covering his jagan. Keeping the eye closed a moment he steeled himself for what he was about to do. His heart was pounding, his soul was aching thinking he was crazy, but he had no choice now. Being angry wasn’t working… and the only thing he had left to do was to walk away.
Opening his eye he worked slowly to force himself into Suuichi’s mind right where he was sure he was hiding. He could see the scene that day where he had been locked in that damn cell screaming those evil things at him playing over and over again like those things called movies that you could rewind and buy on something Yukina called DVD. Shaking his head and steeling his resolve he began.
“Suuichi… I take it back damn you… I take it back… the gift I gave you. I want my heart back.” His voice broke for a moment, and his body outside his mind shook hard. He couldn’t believe he was saying this.
“You don’t want it… if you did you wouldn’t be making me do this. You wouldn’t be making me turn my back on you. I loved you and I wish I could prove I love you still… but do I have to walk on water? Day after day I must face a world of strangers here where I don’t belong. I’m not that strong. It was nice to know that there was someone I could always turn to. Who would always care. You were always there. When there’s no getting over that rainbow… when my smallest dreams won’t come true… I can take all the madness the world has to give… but I won’t last a day without you.
Hiei’s fist clenched until he drew blood as he focused his words. He was terrified that this would definitely be the last thing he ever got to say to his fox. A single tear rolled down his cheek, and for the first time since he was an infant he cried. The reddish black gem fell between the couple to land on Hiei’s lap, and still he didn’t move, and neither did Suuichi.
“So I’m taking back the heart I gave Suuichi… I won’t tie you to me. As your silence remains longer… I feel as if I heard your voiceless cry… and my heart is breaking. I will never understand why I am so powerless and stupid… I couldn’t even protect the hand I surely held. I don’t ask you to forgive me some day for walking away. If you are fighting alone now, that’s the definite sign for me. I must go… but if you love me… Suuichi… if you love me… you’ll allow me to be the moth to the flame for a change… and say something to make me want to stay.”
Hiei forced his jagan closed as he withdrew slowly from Suuichi’s mind so not to damage him. He opened his eyes slowly refusing to look at Suuichi and forced the tears threatening to spill from his eyes away. He wouldn’t cry again. He couldn’t. He took a slow breath before looking down into his lap and picking up his tear gem. Swallowing the painful lump in his throat he spoke, his voice a mere whisper.
“I feel it only right to give it to the one it was created for. Know Suuichi that you are the first person I have cried for in a very long time. I love you fox… but if I leave here… I will never return to the ningenkai… I don’t belong here… the only reason I stayed, the only reason I learned about humans was for you so that I could be with you, but if you are giving up then I will not stay here to watch it. Remember please… I will always love you, and I will never take another.” Hiei took Suuichi’s hand in his own and placed the gem in it and closed the hand as he leaned forward and kissed him, closing his own eyes tight to keep from weeping.
“Goodbye fox.”
Hiei got off the bed and sped toward the window fighting the desire to just run back to him and cling and beg for him to come back. To say something, anything, he wanted a chance, he had never loved anyone besides his sister, never gave a damn about anyone, and the one person he ever wanted was dying in that bed.
Though Hiei had never opened his eyes to look at his face Suuichi had tears rolling down his face. Through his pain, through the horrors of his mind, his gaze shifted and followed Hiei’s run for the window. Clutching the tear gem a sob tore from his lips in the form of a whispered plea.
“Please… oh Hiei… don’t go.”
Hiei froze and didn’t move. He had been about to leap from the window when Suuichi’s whisper, barely audible, reached his ears. His entire form shook and he couldn’t move. He found himself suddenly standing in the bedroom, staring at the window, wondering if his ears had deceived him.
“Fox I…” Hiei turned to face him and saw that Suuichi was weeping, but though weeping his body was glowing. Hiei scanned him for a moment and realized that Kurama had regained his youki… he was regaining his ability to be whole again, not just the separation between him and Youko.
“Please… I… I didn’t know… I could… hear the words I said… playing in my head like a mantra… oh inari… Hiei I…”
“No…” Hiei moved with speed placing his hand against Kurama’s lips shaking his head, straddling his hips. It didn’t matter, what happened happened…they couldn’t change that no matter how much they wanted to. The words were said, and Hiei had forgiven them moment they were said, but finding Kurama like this had not been something he had been prepared for, but the pain was fresh, and though his plan worked it had taken a toll on him, on his normal stoic feelings, on the walls he had so carefully built around himself. He was laid open and bared for the world to see right now and he hated it.
”Hiei…”
“Don’t. Please don’t. I don’t want to talk about this right now. It doesn’t matter. Fox… I want you as my mate… I love you, but if you feel… if you feel…”
“Hiei stop… please… I love you that is why what happened to me hurt so much… I thought…”
“It doesn’t matter… please… just don’t leave me… don’t succumb to guilt and leave me here. I… I don’t have anyone else.”
Kurama broke; his sobs were harsh as he wrapped his arms around Hiei as he wept. The words were just too much. He couldn’t handle this, not the thought of all of it. All that had happened to him, almost losing Hiei due to his own guilt and self pity… it was too much.
“Kurama please don’t cry…” Hiei leaned back slowly out of the embrace and covered Kurama’s lips with his own, in a chaste, but loving kiss.
As Hiei’s lips met his own Kurama’s body shivered with his tears and with the flooding of emotions running rampant through him. He didn’t know when the kiss changed, all he knew was that he could taste him, that he was real, this wasn’t some dream concocted by his mind to torture him further.
Hiei trembled as he pulled Kurama closer to him, deepening the kiss. Separating his thoughts for a moment he linked with Kuwabara for a moment. There was something that needed to be said.
Oaf… I know we haven’t always gotten along… but I want you to know you have my blessing to ask my Sister to be your mate. I know you love her, and it’s time you stop being a coward and do something about your feelings and hers. She loves you and she deserves her happiness… but you hurt her… and I’ll kill you.
Kuwabara visably went pale, despite the blush that was currently tainting his cheeks. He had no idea how the hell Hiei knew he wanted to ask for Yukina’s hand, but he wasn’t about to question him either. He felt that now wasn’t the time to question him no way.
I… t-thank you.
Hiei broke the link and connected with his Sister. He needed to get them out of the house, he didn’t want anyone around right now, and he felt that Kurama wasn’t ready to see all of them either. He took a slow breath before he allowed his thoughts to transfer to his sister.
He’s fine and he’s with me right now Yukina… please take them away from here. I have given Kuwabara my blessing to ask you to be his mate. If he really makes you happy, then I am happy for you. Do come by tomorrow though and let me know if the baka had the sense to ask you.
Oh Hiei…
I love you Yukina. Please do as I ask.
O-of course. I love you too oniisan.
“I am a little hungry… how about we go and get some lunch.”
“Do you think it wise for us to leave right now Yukina?” Yusuke looked up at her drawn out of his own thoughts by her words.
“I’m sure… Kurama is fine, but I believe he and Hiei need some time alone… and it’s better if Kurama doesn’t come down to a household full of people.”
They all rose together and made their way out of the house, making sure to lock the front door Yukina walked down the steps, but turned and looked toward Kurama’s bedroom.
Be happy you two… you deserve it.
Hiei slowly broke the kiss and drew back, both he and Kurama breathing heavily from lack of air. He wanted him, he wanted him bad, and yet he was afraid to push this further in case he wasn’t ready.
“Hiei… it’s okay… I-I need you… I need you to erase him…”
“Fox are you sure…”
“Yes… y-yes… I’m sure.”
Hiei leaned down and slowly placed his lips against Kurama’s kissing him softly, running his tongue slowly over his lips, he waited for his fox to part them and welcome him inside. As their tongues caressed and explored one another’s mouths Hiei worked on undressing Kurama, before leaning back breaking their kiss in order to remove his own as well, before setting about exploring every inch of his fox’s body. It amazed him to feel how silky and smooth it was, though he could still feel the muscles beneath that skin rippling at the touch of his hands.
“Hiei…” Kurama trembled feeling Hiei’s fingertips brush his nipples. The very slow and agonizing way Hiei was exploring his body was setting his soul on fire. He ached, and was fully erect, and they hadn’t even really started doing much yet, but the feel of his koi’s body naked against his own was near undoing him.
“Patience fox…”
“I’m not sure I can wait… I…oohhh.” Kurama groaned as his body arched into the feel of Hiei’s hand wrapped about his length, stroking, teasing, caressing. The pad of his thumb caressed his tip and Kurama gasped his entire frame shaking. Moving his hand quickly stopping his love as Hiei’s movements sped up he opened lust filled emerald green eyes that now held gold flakes and locked them to ruby orbs equally clouded.
“I’m not going to last if you keep this up… I need you inside me.”
Hiei felt his blood rush straight to his groin and he had to bite back a groan as he took a slow and shuddering breath before capturing Kurama’s lips in a passionate kiss. When the need for air made itself known he pulled back and looked at his lover. It was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. Kurama was lying on his back, his legs spread, lips parted as breath rushed in and out of his mouth, his body flushed, and his cheeks rosy. He looked seductive, wanton, and utterly inhumanly beautiful in that moment. His red hair flowed down his shoulders and back, and the look he was giving him was one of intense emotion. He watched in silence as Kurama reached into his bedside drawer and handed him a tub, taking it he flipped the cap open and poured a generous amount into his hand and began to stroke himself tearing a soft groan from his own lips at the feel of his hand, a blush tainting his cheeks.
Kurama watched enthralled as Hiei prepared himself to enter him. It was beyond his wildest dreams, and yet this was reality. This wasn’t what it was like with Hattori… he was willing this time, he longed for this, and for the fire koorime. When Hiei positioned himself he nodded and held onto him as he pushed inside his previously unprepared body, the lubricant making the entrance easier, and almost painless, though he did let in a sharp gasp at the initial thrust within his body.
Hiei froze and stroked Kurama’s hair kissing the tears away from his face. He hadn’t wanted to hurt him, but they were both so impatient. His own eyes held tears from the way it felt to be inside of his fox, to feel his insides wrapped so securely about him, clenching him, wrapping him in a heat even he couldn’t compare to anything else he had felt before, and he knew about the lick of flames, and they couldn’t compare to the heat of his fox. When Kurama shifted his hips Hiei groaned before slowly pulling out and pushing back in listening to the gasps of pleasure that fell from Hiei’s lips. Their movements started off slow, passionate, their kisses, touches, and combined bodies taking them on a higher plane. As their desperation grew so did their speed, gasping Hiei sat up pulling Kurama with him, both of them wrapping their arms around each other, as they moved with inhuman speed.
Their eyes locked and held, their hands soon clasped together as Kurama shifted before tossing his head back and crying out in pleasure as Hiei struck a particular spot inside of his body. Hiei held Kurama close, their breathing harsh and pleasure filled, their moans and cries filling Kurama’s home, as they clung to one another. Hiei made sure to strike that spot constantly, a single hand wrapping about that of Kurama’s length and stroking in time with their movements.
“Hiei… Hiei… oh inari… so close…. I’m so close…”
Hiei’s body spasmed as Kurama began to pulse wildly around him. He was on the edge himself and he knew they weren’t going to last long. He groaned, his own moans mixing with that of his lover’s before Kurama tensed.
“HIEI!”
“Yes love yes…”
“HIEI! HIEI! HIEI!” Kurama screamed his pleasure as his orgasm overcame him, and he heard Hiei growl his name as his seed covered both their stomachs, and Hiei filled him. He gasped then cried out and orgasmed again as he felt Hiei’s fangs sink in the juncture between his throat and shoulder. Emerald eyes flashed gold before his change overcame him and Youko wrapped his tail around the both of them as his own fangs sank into that of his love. Their youki’s clashed, fought, then intermingled in a beautiful array of silver and black, creating a silver rose wrapping about a black dragon then fading as the two beings collapsed to the bed in exhaustion Kurama going back to his human form, and Hiei clinging to him, both licking the wound they had created on one the other.
As afterglow claimed them their breathing slowed, and Hiei went to move off of Kurama only to be held in place.
“Ne… sleep inside me please. I- I feel whole with you like this.”
“Hn.” Hiei smirked before raising his head and kissing his mate deeply before laying his head on his chest.
“I love you Hiei…”
“I love you too Kurama.”
Silence claimed the bedroom, and Kurama stroked Hiei’s back slowly, listening to the content purrs coming from his lover. He was just being lulled to sleep when Hiei’s voice broke the silence.
“Fox?”
“Yes Koi?”
“W-Will…you…”
“Yes Koi?”
“Will you marry me?”
Kurama had been about to reply with a simple ‘mmmhmm’ when he realized the extent of what Hiei had just asked him. His eyes flew open and he looked at his lover who was now holding his gaze, a soft blush tainting his cheeks.
“You mean… you want to go through the Ningen ceremony?”
“We don’t have to do it immediately, but yes… you’re Ningen and I know it would mean a lot to you if we do it the ningen way as well.”
“I… oh Hiei… Yes love yes.”
Hiei grinned and kissed Kurama deeply and passionately, before laying his head back upon his chest and allowing the heartbeat of his love to lull him to sleep. Kurama on the other hand stayed awake a few moments longer caressing Hiei’s back, tears rolling down the sides of his face into his hair, a soft whisper falling from his lips before he allowed sleep to claim him.
"Thank you love… for healing me… Aishiteru Hiei…”
~There you have it you guys. The Epilogue to Shadow Lover. I hope it was everything you hoped for and so much more, and I also hope you loved it as much as I loved writing it, though I must admit I cried writing most of it. I would love to see your reviews and I look forward to them. I might do a sequel with the wedding and everything happening… and include the “Secret” one shot I was telling you about that would happen before the wedding. We’ll see. For now I’m going to focus on Saikai. The prologue is up, and I’m going to get started on Chapter 1 in hopes of getting it out sometime this weekend.)… but Shadow Lover is finished for now, and I would like to thank everyone who reviewed and stuck around to see this story to its finish. Your kind words really do mean a lot to me and it is for you that I continue to write.~
