Chapter Six

Author's Note

Hey guys, Chapter six is up!

Although, I have to admit, I'm thinking of putting this story on hiatus for awhile because I couldn't think of what to write for this chapter.

Ah well, school's starting up again, so I'll be posting once a week again. :D

With that said, enjoy the latest chapter!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The after wedding festivities, devoid of Kurama were loud, raucous and, well, some of the things said at this party were never really decent for human beings of a more ‘delicate’ hearing to hear again. As the drinks flowed, people got drunker and drunker, that by around One AM, the only sober person in the whole mess that was alert was Hiei. Hiei had sat on a cushion in the corner all night. When Hiei was sure that no one would notice, he got to his feet and left to go find his clothes. No one had bothered changing. The guys had taken off their ties and jackets, and then untucked their shirts. Hiei, however, had done none of that. He couldn’t take it off in front of everyone, or they would all see the blood and would ask him where it came from. Hiei just didn’t want to have to answer those questions or let them speculate and come up with lies. After wandering around the temple for awhile, Hiei found his clothes in one of the empty guest rooms. Someone had taken the liberty to fold them and place them neatly on the foot of the bed.

After taking stock of his neat clothing, he wordlessly removed his jacket, tie and shirt, tossing the somewhat bloody shirt onto the bed, and revealing the nasty bruises on his back and the bites on his shoulders. Hiei’s eyes flicked to the right as he sensed a familiar presence. Before he could say anything, a familiar old hag’s voice spoke “That’s a nasty bruise you’ve got there.” Hiei didn’t even turn to face Genkai as he said “It is none of your business.” Genkai walked forward and said “It is when you are in my temple and anger my foolish apprentice.” Hiei ignored Genkai as he worked at pulling his shirt on without acknowledging Genkai. However, the silence between them didn’t last long because the hag was in front of Hiei and saw everything that HIei had been trying to protect.

Genkai was an old woman and had seen a lot of things in her life; nothing could make her wretch or feel even a twinge of sympathy for anyone from a few bruises. However, for the first time in a long time, she felt shocked at Hiei’s condition, and that was just from looking at his front. Naked, she probably would have been angry. Hiei’s front was a mass of red, dark purple, blue, black and a lot of bite marks and that wasn’t the worst of his injuries, but they were the second most severe. Genkai put her hand on Hiei’s chest and wordlessly healed as much as she could. When the bruises were gone as were most of the bite marks she stopped. Genkai offered no explanation and she left the room for Hiei to change. Seeing that his pain was lessened, Hiei put his shirt on with more ease and less pain.

Now was the hard part and the part Hiei was dreading; the pants. He knew it would be painful because of the blood that was caking up in the seat of his pants, but he knew he had to do it anyways. He didn’t want anyone to call him a wimp. Besides, he’d experienced worse pain before. Hiei peeled the pants off, gritting his teeth in pain as he had to pull the suit pants off a little more slowly, drawing out the pain. He had to pull the pants off slowly because the blood had dried in some parts and at others, it was still wet. Hiei resisted the urge to cry out in pain as he finally removed the pants. Leaving them to pool at his feet, he dressed in his old, familiar clothes. Hiei grabbed the bloody pants, and from the suit pocket, he stuffed his tear gem into the pants pocket and left, taking the pants, and the only evidence of his pain with him. Unfortunately, it hurt too much to leap into the trees and go from tree to tree so Hiei grudgingly walked into the forest on foot.

Once Hiei arrived at a suitable clearing, Hiei tossed the pants into the middle of the clearing. He then went after some sticks and tossed it onto the pants. After it was sufficiently covered, Hiei set the bloody pants on fire. Over the fire, Hiei crushed the black tear gem. Hiei then released the dust from the gem and watched it scatter or burn in the fire as smoke and dust. Hiei didn’t need useless things like that anymore. As Hiei stood there, he felt his emotions burn with the flames. The emotions that had kept him going, kept him fighting slowly went up in smoke.

By the time the fire died, Hiei’s anger, rage, emotions in general were gone. Instead, he was cold and empty. Hiei, numb to the pain, settled in a tree to sleep.

------------------

Come morning, Hiei was gone before anyone could find him, or bother looking for him. He made it back to the Makai in record time. Several times he stopped to clean up and wash the blood away before he continued on, intent on getting back to his training. If he trained hard enough, it would be easier to put his goals for the future into action. Hiei wanted to make Kurama pay, and he knew how. He knew how to hit Kurama the hardest, and in places it would hurt. Hiei wasn’t really one to do petty things like this, but then again, Hiei always sought retribution for when he had been wronged, he had just never been this cruel or intricate with his plans. Usually Hiei just killed his enemy, but Kurama was no ordinary enemy. Hiei was going to give Kurama the honor of being a special enemy, the special person towards which Hiei would direct his rage. Although he had given up on his emotions, the desire for revenge and payback never left. He would have his revenge on Kurama.

That single desire for vengeance would make Hiei a formidable opponent.
