Chapter Six

~*~Sorry everyone it has been some time since my update… blame it on my finals. Finally school is over and I have time to write again. Sooo…. This is the last official chapter of Shadow Lover… besides the Epilogue of course. This story has really worked its way into my heart… I think this is the first time I have ever really worked hard enough on an angsty story… I am usually working on happy sex filled stories, but this one needed to be written. The Prologue to Saikai No Chi To Bara is up, and I will be working on Chapter One after this story is fully complete, so after the Epilogue look for Chapter One to Saikai No Chi To Bara. I would like to thank you all for the wonderful reviews… and I would also like to thank you all for sticking with me throughout this story. Some of you don’t want Hattori to get his Just Desserts, we’ll see what happens as I type it… I have no idea how all of this is going to end… I am flirting with two different endings. We’ll see how the reviews of this one turns out… if you want I’ll put up the second ending idea, but it depends on the reviews.. I do hope you enjoy this chapter, and once again thank you all. Quick Hint: Has anyone noticed Hattori has never said Kurama’s name? Hmm… I wonder why… ~*~

Shiorifoxiesmom- This story thank god is not two years old… I have been dealing with finals, and then having a crap load of people in my house for the holidays, and then celebrating Christmas, so today actually (Dec 27th) is the first day I have had any time to actually sit down and write this chapter. I reposted Chapter Five because it had been deleted. Now I said in the beginning of the repost of Chapter Five I would begin working on this story today, and thus I have.

Mhmartini- Thank you so much for understanding, and also thank you for the offer and concern… I passed my Intermediate Algebra Class and you were one of the ones who convinced me to hang in there and not give up. So I owe a lot of thanks to you.

HColleen- Thanks to you as well. You were also one of the ones who kept me from actually saying “Screw this” and dropping the course. You guys gave me hope and I want you to know it really does mean a lot that you guys cared. Thanks so much.

BlueUtopiah- Okay I had a heart attack literally when I read your review. Only because I am such a big fan of your writing and this was really such a wonderful compliment coming from you. I had to comment on it, because it meant so much to me. It is not often I get real explanatory reviews on why people like my stories, and having one from you really is an inspiration and a great boost to keep me writing. Thank you so much. My original plan for Hattori came out how I wanted him to… and as an OC it is hard for me to write one, but I knew he had to be captivating… I wanted everyone to hate him, and yet feel a hell of a lot of compassion for him in the same breath. Its like… you want him to die and suffer for what he’s done to Kurama, but at the same time you’d rather see him not because of how much he’s suffered already. Thank you again, and tell your boyfriend thank you as well. I try to put my creativity in words to the best of my ability and knowing it had come off right really means a lot.

Sukini- I know his behavior is demonic… and that is true… I wanted the words that Hiei said to come off the way they did because that is how Kurama himself is, Hiei was basically saying them to show Kurama that Hattori is nothing like what Kurama likes… and that basically in Kurama’s eyes Hattori would be awful… because of Kurama’s human qualities I find him being quite compassionate toward Humans… and another reason why Hiei said what he said is because of how much he himself has tried to change and understand humans for Kurama alone. You’re not putting too much into the character, you’re reading him just as I planned to have him read… he is one of those characters as I said before… you hate… but in the same breath you feel for them. I have no idea how he will end up, but this chapter will reveal it as I write it. I never plan my chapters… I write them from my heart and pray they come off right.

Tala Ishtar- Thanks Tala… I finally got past them thank god, and I will never again have to take another Math and Science class. I am glad my hard classes are out of the way now so I can focus on my Law Classes (Studying to be a Lawyer) and those come easy to me so I will definitely have more time to write now.

Kurama_is_mine - I am glad you like the story, and here is the update you wanted. As for Hattori… we’ll see what happens.

shiorifoxiesmom- This thank god is not a two year old story. I am literally writing fresh from my head for each chapter. This story is almost completed and then I will be focusing on Saikai No Chi To Bara, and after that… hmm I dunno I haven’t really planned past Saikai No Chi To Bara… because that story is 20 chapters long there is a good chance you’ll see a lot of one shots from me between those chapters. I hope you like this chapter, and that the story is worth it for you and everyone else who reads it. The climax happens here, and then the Epilogue, and then its all over.

ladywolfTerri – Hehehehe everyone has mentioned having Kurama catch Hattori… I was seriously considering it… we’ll see what happens. I will make no promises. I do hope you enjoy the chapter though and thanks for the review.

Disclaimer: I do not own any part of Yu Yu Hakusho, the characters, or the idea of Yu Yu Hakusho. I do; however, own this story, the plot, as well as the characters Hattori, Suki, and Rose.

The sight of his home was more exhilarating than anything he had seen in a long time. His appato, where he knew Hattori was waiting for him, and yet Kurama could go no further as his legs finally collapsed from under him, pain washing through him as he sunk to the ground. His body was even more heated than it had been when he had been caged like an animal, kept from his mate by those he trusted.

“Hattori…” Kurama whispered his mate’s name as his eyes stung, he was all cried out, his throat was raw and scratched, and he looked a mess he was sure, and yet all he could think about was his mate and being in his arms.

Hattori’s head jerked up out of a dead sleep, the girl Suki was passed out from exertion, her body covered in a thick sheen of sweat, the effects of sleeping with him already kicking in. He had felt his rose, his beautiful redhead. He had returned. Sitting up quickly he picked the human girl up and dumped her in the second bedroom unceremoniously. He could care less about her; she would be dead without his mark eventually anyway. Only one person mattered the most to him… his mate… his beautiful Rose.

Moving through the house quickly, after shutting the bedroom door he hurried outside where he found his mate collapsed on the ground. He looked just as she had when she died in his arms, he had been too late, and he was almost too late now. Picking up his beautiful redhead he held close to him showering kisses all over him.

“Beautiful redhead…”

“Hattori… need… you…”

“I know love… I know.” Hattori said nothing else, but used every ounce of speed he possessed to hurry to his love’s bedroom. Once inside he kissed him deeply, shredding clothing off of him as he moved toward the bed, the same bed he had taken the human in the day before.

Kurama was in a frenzy of need, and as Hattori removed his clothing, he returned the favor various materials landing around them in shredded tatters of silk, cotton, and buttons. None of it mattered, just feeling him did. When they fell onto the bed and their full naked bodies came in contact Kurama cried out his pleasure. He was burning up, but the touch of his mate lessened the hunger burning through him like wildfires seeking a way out.

Hattori kissed him deeply, while fumbling in the bedside dresser for the bottle of lube left there. Finally he grabbed it and sat up off his red head a moment causing his love to cry out in denial. Lightly caressing him he calmed him a moment, before opening the tube and lubing himself up quickly, they had no time for foreplay, he needed him now, and he could feel the eyes of another, and knew the battle would be soon.

“Hattori…”

“Shhh…” He positioned himself even as his mate wrapped his legs around him, and thrust quickly filling his mate in one single thrust enjoying the scream that resounded around him and the nails suddenly biting into his back. He growled lowly before pulling out slowly and beginning to thrust deeply into him, aiming at that pleasure spot constantly.

From the time he entered him Kurama saw stars, the pain in his body lessened, and he felt complete again. He couldn’t stop the sounds of pleasure, the screams and moans falling from his lips each time that spot inside of him was hit. He wasn’t going to last long, as tears fell from his eyes he forced himself to sit up and kiss Hattori deeply even as his body began to clench in the beginnings of a quick and powerful orgasm.

Hattori knew what was coming and could feel the intake of air from his mate as his own breath was swallowed by his love, and deepened the kiss taking in his love’s scream as his love climaxed. The tightening of his mate’s insides around his length was vice like, and enough to undo him as his body shattered he broke the kiss and let out a cry that would outdo even his love.

“ROSE!!!!”

They rode the crescendo together; the overwhelming powerful emotions running through both of them were amazing, and yet very different. Hattori felt the connection of his true love, Kurama on the other hand was thinking solely Hattori, and had failed to notice the name that his love had called out. As they collapsed to the bed, both were covered in sweat, and breathing harshly, despite the flowing of afterglow surrounding the both of them.

“We have company…” Hattori whispered once he caught his breath and looked up kissing his love softly and caressing that beautiful red hair he had so adored.

“Do we have to get up?” Kurama felt as if he couldn’t move, his body felt so heavy, and yet inside he felt great turmoil… as if some part of him was not satisfied.

“Yes… unfortunately… we have no choice in…” Hattori looked up his words being cut off as a force of powerful ki shot through the bedroom.

“Seems our visitor is quite impatient, and rude.” Kurama’s eyes narrowed as Hattori moved off of him and got dressed. Sighing he too rose and drew on a robe out of his closet. He could smell another scent in the bedroom, but couldn’t focus on it, as the ki kept shooting through the room, violent and deadly.

Hattori looked at his love a moment before taking his hand and leading him out of the bedroom, and soon out of the appato. Moving into a rather large clearing in the back of the complex his eyes landed on a pair of red orbs. Narrowing his own he tossed his hair out of his face and smirked.

“I wondered how long it would take the Tantei to come for me.”

“Hn. Who said I am here on Tantei business? I am here for revenge and to claim back what is rightfully mine.”

“You can’t have him… he belongs with me… he is my true love. Back down fire Koorime and yield to your better.”

Hiei’s eyes flashed even as he pulled his Katana and launched himself at Hattori. He never was one for words. Just feeling their sexual escapade had sent him into a fury of emotions and pure hatred. Not because of the fact that Hattori had killed humans, hell he could care less… it was the fact that he had taken Kurama that made him hate this demon… and hate him even more for being what he was, and being powerful enough to blind Kurama.

He had been so deep in rage he never saw Kurama move until his sword met that of a rose whip and the resounding chime of the two weapons hitting froze him and his eyes locked on emerald green orbs. He had feared this… and yet he knew there was no way in hell Kurama was going to let him near Hattori.

“You will not touch him Hiei. If you want to kill him you’ll have to go through me first.”

“Love don’t… I couldn’t bare for you to be hurt.” Hattori wondered where in the hell the whip had come from, and yet didn’t give it much thought. He refused to have his mortal love in danger, and fighting this demon!

“Don’t do this…” Hiei’s words fell soft, even as he held those emerald green eyes. It hurt so much to see such anger and hatred in those eyes that had once loved him.

“Then leave us alone.” Kurama’s words fell cold even as he ignored Hattori.

“I can’t do that… you don’t belong with him.” Hiei stepped back even as he held the Katana up and moved into a defensive stance.

“If I must fight you to free you from him… then so be it.”

Kurama moved away from Hattori even as he tried to reach out for him. This was a matter of honor… and the fact that Hiei was his former “friend” meant that he had rights alone to fight him. Narrowing his eyes he launched his attack.

Hiei dodged the rose whip with ease, and realized that Kurama was not fighting with his full youki, which meant that he was still being blocked by the spell put on by him from Hattori. The words of Genkai played in his head a moment, as he had stopped to see the old woman before coming here. Hiei… you will have to fight Kurama… but his ki is going to be played on by that spell… the only way for you to save Kurama is to fight him, and yet somehow play upon Youko, use the demon half of Kurama’s love for you… lose… I know it is hard for you to accept defeat, but let Kurama know he won… and then… it is up to you to know how to pull on Youko's emotions to the point where he will force the take over of the body.

Hiei sent back some strikes toward Kurama using his speed and sending Kurama on the defensive. If he was going to make Kurama believe he lost he would have to fight back, he couldn’t just give up. It was an interesting battle to say the least, both knew the other so well, that by the time one launched an attack the other knew how to defend, though neither demon was fighting with their true power, Hiei masking his so that Hattori would not figure it out, and Kurama unable to use his.

Hattori stood there in shock at his human love. For a mortal he moved well, though he still wondered about that whip. Kuwabara was human and had Ki… so it would make sense that his love could too, the question was… how did he learn to use it? Before he could fully finish his thought he gasped as he saw the whip latch about Hiei’s neck tight as a noose and tightening still, blood beginning to spill down the fire demon’s neck.

“You lose Friend…”

Hiei fell to one knee and allowed his sword to fall from his hand as he reached up for the whip latched around his throat. It hurt a hell of a lot more than he thought it would. Looking up into those cold emerald green eyes he nodded his head in defeat before speaking softly, as he could do no more with how the whip was constricting about his throat.

“I… Kurama… before… you kill me… let me have one request.”

“HIEI!” The sound of Yusuke’s voice froze everyone and for a moment Kurama tightened the hold he had on Hiei causing him to let out a strangled cry.

“Reiii…”

“NO Urameshi wait!” Kuwabara stood in front of Yusuke and the two began an argument on what should be done.

“We have to wait on Botan!”

Yusuke cursed and watched Kurama through narrowed eyes. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Everyone knew Kurama loved Hiei, and to see him with such malice in those eyes, and deadly intent, he knew that Kurama would kill him without second thought.

“Ku…. Kurama…”

Kurama’s eyes landed back on Hiei and for a moment he seemed extremely frustrated, but in those eyes there was something else…uncertainty. Inside of him something raged, as if killing Hiei would be wrong. His brows furrowed in confusion and he bit his lip staring at the fire Koorime surrounded by his former friends and his mate.

“What is it?”

“A kiss… that’s all…”

Kurama looked shocked a moment, and turned to look at Hattori who was currently staring at his beautiful redhead with eyes that held shock, love, and admiration. Hattori knew what those eyes was asking him, and since the fire Koorime was going to die anyway, why not grant him his last wish… afterall… it would be the last time he would see his love anyway. He shrugged his shoulders and looked on with indifference, though inside the idea of that demon touching his mate was enough to make him want to leap on him himself.

“Fine.” Kurama looked back at Hiei before leaning down slowly, inside of him he felt something stir in anticipation of their lips touching and looked confused a moment, before his lips met that of Hiei’s.

Hiei allowed his eyes to drift closed as their lips touched and moved his hand to cover that of the false mating mark and for a moment his ki rose considerably, shooting through Kurama’s body, shocking Hattori into silence, even as his beautiful redhead flinched as if in pain.

Hattori moved forward to make an attack, but fog began to roll into the area and he froze for only a split second before he shot forward only to stop dead in his tracks as a blue haired woman appeared and knew he was looking at death.

“Oh no you don’t… I have something you need to see.” Botan lowered herself on her oar and allowed her passenger to step off. Koenma had allowed one rule to be broken for the sake of saving Kurama… and it was one that Hattori needed to be faced with.

“Hattori…”

All the color drained out of Hattori’s face as he stared at the soul of the one he loved and lost. It was impossible, there was no way she could be standing here, and she was reincarnated into the form of his beautiful redhead, but how was she standing before him now?

The fog rolled in thick waves cutting off anything that Hattori could have said, and for a moment everyone was distracted, as the entire area was covered in a silvery thick mist that hid everything, even the sight of Kurama and Hiei.

“What in the hell? Kuwabara can you sense anything?”

“Only thing I feel is something strong and powerful coming from where Kurama and Hiei had been, but the fog is so thick I can’t see a thing!”

Hattori stood there confused and in shock as everyone else. What in the hell was going on? What happened to his redhead? Why was Rose’s soul in front of him and not inside his beautiful red head?

The fog slowly began to clear and everyone gasped including Hattori who stood there in complete and utter shock. Where his beautiful redhead once stood was now the famous Youko Kurama… but he was dead too… or so the legend was told.

“Youko…” Hiei looked up weakly to see his love’s true form and reached out and caressed his cheek, a weak smile playing upon his lips, “It worked.”

“Yes my love… it did… rest now.” Youko kissed him softly before catching Hiei as he collapsed into unconsciousness. Lowering him to the ground slowly, that silver tail flicked back and forth before he stood, white gauze like clothing swirling about him as he turned and faced Hattori.

“You have made a deadly Mistake… sorcerer.”

“I…” Hattori was speechless, and just stood there in complete confusion.

“You were dead… everyone in the Makai knew it… how is it that you are alive.”

“Obviously you haven’t paid attention to the dark tournaments… I have been alive and well… and the second soul inside of Suuichi who you mistook for Rose…. Who is now standing before you, but your grave mistake was not that… your mistake was taking the virginity of an innocent human boy who loved only one… and falsely marking him… but what you didn’t know is that I resided within and thus your mark meant nothing to me.”

“Hattori… you belong with me… that boy is not my reincarnation… I will not be reincarnated… demons don’t get reincarnation… Kurama is an exception because he found an unborn human willing to share, an unborn human who would have died without his strength. Youko Kurama… it is an honor to meet you.” The female Youko who was indeed a carbon copy of Suuichi bowed deeply before holding the golden gaze of the one Youko she had admired above all of her race. “I have a request Youko if I may… I know my memory has caused you and yours a lot of pain, but my request is one I believe you will accept.”

“I’m listening.” Cold indifference… that was Youko… and he enjoyed every ounce of it. Silver tail swayed before wrapping about his waist, his long silver hair flowing about him as the others stood behind their friend. They knew he was back now, and that Suuichi was safe and would be back in his right mind.

“I wish for you to give my love back to me… I know he has committed crimes… and I know the Tantei wish for him to be tried and convicted, but I would rather a chance for us to be together…”

“So… you want me to kill him.”

“I wouldn’t put it that way… more like free him.”

Hattori blinked staring at Rose in shock. She was asking that crazy ass Youko to kill him, and yet… it would make sure they would be together… he had made a grave mistake in taking the redhead thinking it was Rose, and he deserved to pay for his crimes… including the deaths of those Ningens.

“I had plans on killing him anyway… I doubt Koenma will really care.” Youko shrugged indifferently before looking over at Hattori.

Hattori locked eyes on the Youko and fell to his knees. He knew there was no way to get out of this alive, and it was either be killed or be jailed, and he’d rather have a chance with Rose. He looked to Botan, who was death and raised a brow.

“Yes you would end up with her… Koenma has gotten the permission and you will end up with her, we decided that you only did what you did to get to her anyway, and though you committed those crimes, you are going to pay by dying at Youko’s hands. So justice either way will be served.”

Hattori nodded his head and looked up at Youko who was looking at him with so much malice and hatred. He knew this was going to be painful… but quick… but still so very painful.

“I’m sorry Youko Kurama… for all I have done. I am ready to pay the price.”

“Very well… I thought of killing you slowly… with a very strong poison, or feeding you to a Makai plant… but then I realized that there is another way I wish to do this… one that will restore my honor, and show who my heart as well as Suuichi’s truly belongs to…” Kurama paused even as he raised the weapon he had chosen and locked eyes on Hattori’s now wide ones.

“I never knew you could use a Katana!”

Youko smirked hearing Yusuke’s voice. He could use it already, but he still preferred his rose whip, but he was paying tribute to Hiei… and thus wanted to honor him for standing beside him despite what had happened, and the things that had been said. In one swift movement he moved and the sound of that blade cutting through the air resounded, soon followed by a thud and the sound of a head rolling on the ground. He stood there in silence; he knew he didn’t have enough strength to hold onto his form, the change and pushing Suuichi aside had cost a lot.

No one would dare say anything. Rose turned away from the sight of her love falling and missing his head and closed her eyes. She looked up at Botan who nodded her head and moved to pull Hattori’s soul.

Hattori looked up and knew he was dead, he didn’t even bother looking at his body and merely had eyes only for Rose. Moving to her he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him.
“My love… my beautiful love…”

“Hattori…” Rose began to weep but held onto him. They were finally reunited, and she could rest now knowing he was no longer suffering without her, but would spend eternity at her side.

Yusuke and Kuwabara watched Kurama as he kneeled and kissed Hiei before collapsing next to him, turning back into Suuichi. Suuichi sat there dumbfounded even as Kuwabara moved to pick up Hiei so they could take him to Genkai’s. As for Kurama Yusuke lifted him and the three began the trek to Genkai’s while the happy couple was carried off to their final resting place once and for all.

As they walked on Yusuke noticed the far distance look in Kurama’s eyes. He seemed… empty in his human form, utterly broken, and for once Yusuke was unsure about the future.

“Do you think he’ll ever forgive himself?”

“I don’t know Urameshi… but I hope in time he will…and I hope Hiei doesn’t let him do it alone.”

~*~ There you have it you guys… Chapter Six… now the Epilogue is next and probably will be written tomorrow before I leave for my trip to Virginia. Now I want to be honest… I am not fully happy with this chapter… I may just wait on the Epilogue until I get back so I can redo this chapter… let me know what you think… I think it was hard to be extremely descriptive during such a huge confrontation, but in the same breath I didn’t want this to be the most important part of the ending, though Kurama is freed, it is not over yet… he and Hiei still have to face one another and that is the true ending that is important… I don’t know… let me know what you guys think. When I return on Monday from my trip I will start writing on Saikai No Chi To Bara if you think I should not redo this chapter. The next chapter will be a little bit of a tear jerker at first… but in the end I promised a happy ending and everyone will get one… as for the second ending… forget about it… I combined the two. I wanted Hattori to die… simply because that was my plan from the beginning, but part of me wanted him to end back up with Rose… so I combined the two into one good ending. Don’t worry… its not over between Hiei and Kurama… they have a confrontation to have first, and one hell of a lemon scene. I hope you all enjoyed, and thank you for wonderful reviews again, and for hanging in there with me.~*~
