Chapter Four

~Hello once again everyone! I would like to personally thank everyone who reviewed the last chapter. I wasn’t sure if everyone would like it, but I am very happy that everyone loved it. That chapter was written in about an hour and a half after the first scene was completed (where Koenma watches the news and receives the folder on Hattori.) I noticed that many of you felt the chapter was extremely sad, and if was meant to be. Also, a lot of you felt bad for Kurama and Hiei, the emotion I know was heartbreaking, and its only going to get worse… you’ll get a taste of it in this chapter… then the one following which will be out probably by Friday since I know already what’s going to happen. Now please read and review I would love to hear what everyone this of this chapter.~

Special Note: There is a little something I need help with at the end of this chapter. Please read through it and let me know what you think I should do. It would be greatly appreciated!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters within this story with the exception being Hattori. Him I do own and the plot also comes from my twisted and sick imagination.

Kurama sighed as he walked down the street toward his home. School had been better though all the females surrounding him had gotten on his nerves more so than usual. They noted that he was feeling better, and that he seemed happier. They handed him all kinds of gifts, each hoping that he would give them the time of day, not knowing that he was just too kind to tell them he was not interested.

The school was still in an uproar about what had happened to the three students who had died. Kurama had heard about it just that day, having had no idea really what to make of it. It was terrible what had happened and Kurama felt very bad for them. He found it weird though that it had happened in the week that he too had been going through similar problems, but refused to focus on it. Besides… Hattori loved him, and he was his, he would never betray him.

The very thought of his mate made him smile, and he knew he probably looked like a man heavily in love. His life was happier now, he was no longer alone, and he was pleased with how things were going. He was doing better in school already, and the thought of going home and seeing Hattori later on tonight made him quicken his step, in hopes that if he hurried the night would go by faster.

Opening his front door he made his way into his apartment and took off his coat hanging it up on the coat hanger, before making his way deeper into his darkened appato. He was tired. His day had been too long; it was already night by now, as he had stayed after school to get some studying done. As he looked around he felt his heart flutter knowing Hattori would come back to him soon. He was looking forward to seeing his mate.

As he made his way through the living room Kurama froze suddenly as he heard something that sounded like someone moving. He tilted his head and listened again, but heard nothing, though the pounding of his heart wouldn’t cease.

“Hattori?”

He waited for the response thinking his mate had returned, but heard nothing. Figuring it was just his imagination he started making his way toward his kitchen when he heard a voice finally answer him from the shadows covering his living room.

“I’m sorry…”

“W-who…”

Kurama couldn’t even finish his sentence before he found his mouth covered by what felt like a cloth and someone behind him. He immediately started to struggle, but forgot not to breathe, and as his vision slowly went black he heard the voice whisper softly to him again as he lost consciousness.

“I’m so sorry…”

Hiei sped through the night upon rooftops being careful due to the precious person he held in his arms. He hated what he had to do, but he refused to let Yusuke, and the oaf, be the ones to kidnap his fox. As much as he trusted Yusuke, he didn’t trust the oaf to be quiet enough, and he hadn’t wanted to risk Kurama getting hurt. Looking down into Kurama’s face he sighed remembering the fear he had felt radiating off of Kurama as he covered his mouth with the cloth. It still hurt, and though he had been running for a while now he feared he would never forget how that had felt, the image would forever haunt him he was sure.

Once he was far enough from the human inhabited areas he stopped and sat down with Kurama in his arms. He didn’t want to risk waiting too long to get him to Koenma so he only rested a moment before taking off for the spirit realm. He knew once he got close enough Botan would meet him as planned. He ran with all the speed he had, as he was still unsure how long the concoction he had been told to use would keep Kurama out. As he neared Genkai’s temple he stopped and it was only a second before Botan appeared.

“You did it!”

“Hn.”

Botan knew Hiei probably wasn’t in the talking mood right now so she wasted no time in helping him and Kurama onto her oar and sped off to the Spirit realm and Koenma. Once they arrived they rushed into the area where they usually held prisoners until their court date. She could see the pain on Hiei’s face, though the fire demon was greatly concealing his emotions, she could still see how horrible he felt, and she found herself feeling extremely bad for him. She knew how much he loved Kurama.

“Hiei good you’re back. Put Kurama in this cell, have you removed the seeds from his hair?”

“I’m not stupid.” Hiei left it at that as he laid Kurama down on the bed within the cell. He knew it wasn’t going to be pretty when Kurama woke. He found himself not really wanting to be around when he did, the pain of facing him so soon would be too much. Reaching out he caressed Kurama’s cheek before turning and flittering out of the room before any of them could ask him to help with anything. He didn’t want to face what he had done.

“Do you think it was right Koenma that Hiei went?”

“We didn’t have a choice Botan… he wouldn’t let anyone else go.” Koenma worked his pacifier in silence. He just hoped they all had the strength to deal with the horrors they were about to put Kurama through.

“Are you sure the cell will hold him shrimp? What if he turns into Youko Kurama?”

“I already thought of that Yusuke… Kurama can’t turn into his Youko form as so long as he wears Hattori’s mark… it is already dampening his youki.”

“I just hope you know what you’re doing Koenma… because if you don’t… I believe Hiei may very well kill you.” Yusuke mumbled as they all turned away from the cage and headed back toward Koenma’s office.

“So do I Yusuke… So do I….”

Hattori entered his mate’s apartment intent on surprising him. He had brought him a dozen red roses remembering how Rose had loved the human flower so much. He had missed his beloved since he had left the night before, but with the detectives looking for him he couldn’t stay in one place too long where he could be found. His pretty red head was all his now, that Hiei person no longer in his thoughts.

“Pretty red head?”

Hattori frowned suddenly as he scanned for his beloved’s energy. Human yes, but he always found something lurking in his life force that didn’t seem quite human. He knew it was Rose’s soul he was feeling, at least that is what he believed. He moved through each room of the house in silence looking for his beloved figuring maybe he was just exhausted. Moving into the bedroom he looked for him noticing the bed was empty.

Strange, his beloved red head was always home by now. He set the roses down on the bed and moved into a chair. He had nothing to worry about. His pretty red head belonged to him, he marked him, and he would have to come home eventually. Besides… he could tell that his love had already been home once, maybe he had gone out for something. Humans had to eat so maybe that was it? Hattori passed the time thinking of how shocked his love would be when he returned to see the roses. He found himself all the more tired from his constant running the night before and soon found sleep claiming him.

Hattori dreamed of the night before when he had finally laid his claim on his beloved. The mark he had given him was a magical mark, as he didn’t want to physically bite his love and hurt him. Besides… his mark in magic was more powerful than the usual demon marking of a mate. He could still hear his beloved red head’s moans of pleasure, feel him arching against him, asking for more, weeping his name, that he loved him, before screaming out his pleasure in ultimate release. It had been so beautiful, so right, and he knew he had his beloved mate again. He wouldn’t mess up like last time; he wouldn’t be foolish enough to lose him.

Hattori slowly woke and yawned stretching lazily and searched out for his love’s scent. He still wasn’t home. He looked toward the clock to see what time it was and was shocked to find he had been asleep for more than five hours. Why wasn’t his love home yet? He hadn’t mentioned staying the night anywhere tonight; he had made him promise he would be home tonight? Where was he?!

Now he was beginning to panic. It was almost two in the morning and his love wasn’t home yet. Standing with a low growl of anger falling from his lips he left the apartment to go and find his love. None of this made any sense, if something had happened to his love there would be hell to pay. No one took what belonged to Hattori… no one.

Koenma looked up as Hiei walked into his office. He could see that he was angry, that something had him furious. It had been hours since Kurama had been brought in, so he didn’t understand why Hiei was so upset, at least he wasn’t with Hattori.

“Something wrong Hiei?”

“Kurama hasn’t woken yet.” Hiei’s voice was cold, heartless, and held a small twinge of worry. Hiei had never used such a method to get anyone, so he was unsure of what was going on. He didn’t want anything bad happening to Kurama. His fox had been through enough.

“It is natural Hiei… the gas we put on that cloth is very strong on Youko’s. Kurama probably won’t wake up for a few days, which is a good thing. After all at least that way he won’t feel a lot of the pain that will go through him due to his separation from Hattori.” Koenma tried to sound calm, but the words came out rushed. He didn’t need Hiei freaking out on him right now, and he didn’t need him having second thoughts either. They had to hold Kurama until he was desperate enough that he would lead them right to Hattori. They couldn’t afford to foil this plan.

“What is a few days Koenma? I don’t want to go through with this if it’s going to hurt Kurama.”

“You know he’s going to be in pain due to the separation Hiei… this is our only chance at saving him. We have to capture Hattori, and he’s been avoiding Yusuke and Kuwabara… we need Kurama to lead us to him.”

Hiei frowned deeply before merely leaning on Koenma’s desk. He was getting real sick of Koenma constantly using them in order to make sure he didn’t get on his father’s bad side. In his heart he knew he was right, it didn’t mean he had to like it. He had to make sure Kurama would be okay. He was just worried he supposed, but he wasn’t going to tell Koenma that, no the son of the ruler of the spirit world needed a reminder that he wasn’t going to have Kurama hurt.

“I am only going to warn you one more time Koenma… if something happens to Kurama you’ll pay… I don’t give a damn what happens to me as punishment.”

Hiei didn’t wait for a response from him before he turned and stormed out of his office making his way down the hall where Kurama was being held. Standing in front of the cage he looked in on his fox. He appeared to be sleeping and he looked beautiful in his rest. Hiei sighed softly and motioned for one of the guards to unlock the cage. He made his way within noticing that the cage was immediately locked behind him, and had to fight the rising panic of being caged in. He swallowed his fear, and made his way toward Kurama’s bedside, but looked to the door of the cage and glared letting the guard know he was dismissed for now.

He waited until the guard was gone before he lowered himself at Kurama’s bedside. He felt as worse as he did when he had kidnapped Kurama more than six hours ago. He couldn’t believe this was happening, that he had such bad luck. He had loved Kurama since he had finally started letting the fox get close to him. No… that was a lie. He loved Kurama the first time he laid eyes on him, but had chosen to ignore it believing that there was no way in hell anyone could love a forbidden one like him.

It wasn’t until his sister had told him that Kurama loved him in return that he began to believe there could be something between them. Yukina didn’t lie, and she was able to read people with ease. It still made him smile when he thought of how she told him she knew he was her brother when he had finally come clean to her. She said she could tell with how he always protected her, and got angry when she was upset. ‘It is how a brother is supposed to act’ she had said. It was then she had mentioned that he protected Kurama as well, though he hid it well. He had been so shocked to know that his feelings had been so open, but she had said no one else knew how he felt but her.

She had started helping him learn ningen ways then. He had been frustrated at first; there was so much to know. He had worked with his black market dealings to get the necessary papers he would need to be accepted in the ningen world, knowing there was no way Kurama would leave his ningen mother. He had been willing to give up everything to be with his fox, and now he felt as if he had already lost him.

“How did we come to this Kurama?” The whisper fell from his lips before he could stop it. He felt the need to speak, the need to share his feelings with the being laying so still in the bed, with the exception of the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he breathed.

“I feel as if I’m being punished for not coming to you sooner… I hate this… I hate what we have to do to you, and I can’t help but hope you’ll be strong enough to get through it. You’re strong fox, I have faith in you; I just hope that at the end of all this you can forgive me for this crime against you. You don’t deserve this…we don’t deserve this.”

Hiei reached out and held Kurama’s hand in his own. This hurt so damn much. They didn’t deserve this pain, and the mere thought of the horrors Kurama had been put through by Hattori merely made him all the more depressed and angry. The sight of Kurama looking so broken, sobbing, and claiming how he was forbidden, unworthy of him, and unclean, made him sick to his stomach. His beautiful fox should never have to feel so worthless.

“You’re not worthless Kurama… you’re beautiful, perfect, smart, kind, all the things that make you so beautiful, also makes you very deadly. You are not to be underestimated, and yet you are by all who only see your beauty… I see more than that… its why you don’t belong with Hattori… he doesn’t love you like I do. He loves you because he believes you are someone else… I love you for you… and yet here you are caged like an animal and bearing his mark…”

Hiei frowned at the last of his words as he bit them out. He was jealous… fiercely so. He wasn’t sure he could follow Koenma’s rules to bring Hattori to him alive. He wanted to kill him for what he had done to Kurama… for the slight against himself for daring to mark what Hiei believed belonged to him. His fox belonged with him and him alone, not some unworthy Youko searching for a mate that he killed, and using his sex and power to get what he wanted.

This Hattori was beneath him and beneath Kurama. He didn’t deserve his fox’s love. He was a monster who preys on weak humans. Even he hated humans, but not enough to kill them so horribly because of his own carnal needs. Hiei felt bile rise to his throat as he remembered the accounts of what had happened to those three humans at Kurama’s high school.

“I will not let him have you… I will not let him destroy you Kurama, not like he did those humans… I love you and I refuse to lose you to such a disgusting excuse for a demon…”

Hiei stood then knowing he had to go as he could feel the guard returning. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss against Kurama’s lips, and caressed the hair he had so admired for so long.

“I failed you once… I won’t fail you again.” The whisper fell across his fox’s lips before Hiei stood and with his speed made his way to the gate just as the guard moved in front of it. Hiei nodded his head that he was done and allowed him to unlock the gate and let him out. He took one last look at Kurama before heading down the hall and toward where the others were gathered.

Special Note From Lady Aqualyne: All right you guys here is the deal. There are two chapters left to this story. The next one is where Kurama wakes up, and the last one I believe will be the final one and I plan on writing an Epilogue to it which will finally end the story so that makes three chapters. I will be putting out those probably quickly maybe a week between one another because this story is going to flow fast now since I got past this chapter finally. Now here is the deal and the reason for this special note… I need your help… I have two story ideas for two different stories I want to write after this one… the first I mentioned in the last chapter, which is going to be called “Saikai No Chi To Bara” The Reunion of Blood and Roses. That story is an Alternate Universe story with vampires and is going to be, as planned thus far, twenty chapters long and is a Kurama & Hiei pairing of course. The second story I have an idea for is more of a sadomasochistic cross over. Its also an Alternate Universe story with Kurama & Hiei being the main couple, but the crossover is with Inuyasha and the couple from that fic in the story is Inuyasha and Sessy and the two couples meet in a BDSM club. There will be two chapters to that story… the first one only with Kurama and Hiei the second chapter will introduce Inuyasha and Sessy. So what I need your help with is which one would you guys like to read first?? Please let me know in your reviews so that I can take a count of which one is most popular and get started on it by the end of the fifth chapter to this story. I thank you all for reading!!!
