Scene 3
Scene 3 ---------- Inside Alaric
* General Kirin quietly enters Mukuro’s personal chambers. He stops and waits for the two fortress healers to finish seeing to his bed-ridden Lord. Over the past couple weeks the mechanics that make up more than half of Mukuro’s body have slowly begun to shut down. With as little as the healers know about her bio-engineering, the most they can do is try to keep her comfortable. Mukuro turns her uncovered face toward Kirin, showing him that her robotic eye is dark and inoperative. Just talking has become a chore for her.
Mukuro- Are.. we.. there?
* Kirin bows respectfully.
Kirin- We’ve stopped just inside the Barren Lands as you requested, M’Lord.
* Mukuro nods jerkily.
Mukuro- He.. will.. come.
* Mukuro studies the General with her real eye. She notices how he sadly avoids looking at her. She realizes how easy it would be for him to finish her off now and take her position by force if he were so inclined.
Mukuro- Kirin,.. I will.. reward.. your.. faith-fulness.
* Kirin’s wide eyes dart toward her.
Kirin- I require no reward.
Mukuro- You.. could.. destroy me.. now.. and null-ify the..
Kirin- Save your strength, M’Lord. You’ll need it for when he comes.
Healer #1- What if the selfish little b------ doesn’t come?
* Mukuro slowly moves her head to glare at the older healer.
Mukuro- General,.. when Hiei.. comes.. this one.. dies.
* The elderly demon yelps and tries to escape the room, but Kirin grabs him up easily. The General bows to Mukuro again, then leaves, carrying the lanky demon by the scruff of his neck. Mukuro turns her good eye toward the one healer that’s left. The younger demon quickly bows.
Healer #2- Well of course he’ll come! I have no doubts whatsoever, M’Lord!
* As he speaks, the healer sidles toward the door then takes off. Mukuro nods with great effort.
Mukuro- He will.. come..
* She feels that her lungs aren’t functioning as they should and closes her eyes.
Mukuro- But I.. won’t.. see him.
* She allows herself to slip off into hibernation.
