Chapter 3 - Rewritten
Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Yu Yu Hakusho or any of it's characters.
(Author's Note: I decided to rewrite this chapter because of a very good point brought up by one of my readers concerning the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" crossover, so I took it out and changed things up a bit. The next chapter will have a few very minor references to other anime, but only because I know they have strong fighters in their teams)
CHAPTER 3
Once again, Yusuke sat alone in his room, and once again, he was sad. This time, however, it was because of his love life’s sudden downward spiral. He’d gotten the best sex of his life, and then it had been taken away from him just as quickly as it had been given. He fingered the black gems around his neck, and slipped out a few tears of his own.
“Hey there, lover,” Kurama said, hugging him from behind. “You’re thinking about him again, aren’t you?”
“I know I really shouldn’t,” he said, touching Kurama’s cheek. “I guess I just can’t forget him. I know you’ll always be here for me, but I almost think it would’ve been better if he hadn’t come to us last night.”
By this time, Hiei was on his way back to Demon World. He had lost Keiko, and he didn’t want to chance ruining things with Makuro now too. She knew that he had interests in others, and had always been understanding. He couldn’t fuck this up like he had with Keiko! Arriving at the home that the two of them had established, Hiei walked into the house and called out to her.
“Hiei!” Makuro cried. “You’re back!”
“Yes, my dear,” he said, smiling. “Makuro, I’m back to stay, if you’ll have me.”
“Of course,” she said.

Meanwhile, Keiko sat in her family’s living room, reading. She still couldn’t believe that Botan had kissed her. It had been a total shock, but now that she thought about it, she shouldn’t have pulled away so quickly, or jumped down the blue-haired apparition’s throat for being bisexual.
“Keiko, the phone’s for you,” Pa said. “It’s Yusuke.”
“Tell him to go to hell,” Keiko said. “He cheated on me and I really don’t want anything to do with him.”
“You heard, I suppose,” he said.
“Yes, Sir, and I’m sorry,” Yusuke said. “I just wanted to apologize for what I did to her.”
“I’ll tell her that,” Pa said. “Goodbye, Yusuke.” Just as he hung up the phone, a knock was heard on the door. “I’ll get it.”
“Hello, Mr. Ukimoura,” said Botan. “Is Keiko home?”
“Yes, she’s here,” he said. “Keiko!”
“Coming!” Keiko said. “Hey, Botan!”
“Can we talk?” Botan said, and Keiko nodded. “Can we go for a bit of a walk?”
“Sure,” she said. “We’ll see you later, Dad.” They walked in silence for a few minutes, but at the same moment, they said each other’s name. “You go ahead, Botan.”
“All right,” Botan said. “I just... Well, I just came to apologize to you for being so sudden in coming on to you.”
“That’s all right, Botan,” Keiko said, wrapping her arm around the back of Botan’s waist. “I shouldn’t have... I mean... I’m actually not straight. I’m bi.” Botan’s eyes widened slightly. Did this mean she had a chance with the little brunette? “And if you wanted to call me your girlfriend, you could. I wouldn’t mind.”
“Keiko, I don’t know what to say,” Botan said, feeling her grip on her waist tighten. “I was scared when I first told you how I felt, and I just blurted it out.”
“Stop talking and kiss me,” Keiko said. Botan hesitated at first, but then softly kissed her new girlfriend. Breaking the kiss, Keiko looked into Botan’s eyes. “I was the one who needed bravery.”
"Well, if you don't mind me sayin' so, Lassy, what ya just did took a whole lot of guts," said a voice from above them.
"Jin!" Keiko said. "What are you doing here?"
"And why are you in human clothes?" Botan asked.
"One, I'm looking for Yusuke," Jin said. "And two, I needed to fit in in the human world while I was lookin' for 'im, or so I'd think."
"Why are you looking for Yusuke?" Keiko said.
"So full of questions, this one!" he chuckled. "I have some news, both good and bad. Which do you want first?”
“Get the bad news over with first,” Botan said.
“I’ve been sent by the Dark Tournament Committee to get you and your friends and bring you as honored guests to start this year’s tournament.” Jin said. Botan gasped in shock, then nearly fainted. “Calm down, will you? Urameshi’s team doesn’t have to fight in the tournament if they don’t want to, but the Committee would at least like them to appear for the opening ceremonies.”
“If they do agree in the fight in the tournament, won’t they be short a member?” Keiko asked. “Kuwabara doesn’t want to fight anymore now that he and Yukina are settling down with a new baby coming. With him gone, they don’t have enough for a full team.”
“That’s the good news,” Jin said. “Koenma's asking someone else to step in as the new member of the team."
“Who?” Botan asked.
“Keiko here,” he said. “Spirit energy is sometimes given to a person through the blood, including giving it from a man to a woman through sexual fluids.” Jin seemed to be blushing at his own statements. “Since, if my sources are correct, you’ve been with two of the most powerful demons in Demondom, some of their powers have been transferred to you. Don’t tell me you haven’t sensed an increase in her spirit energy in the last little while, Botan.” Botan had to admit that Jin was right, and she nodded. “With the proper training, you could easily be very skilled in fighting with spirit power.”
"Thank you for telling us, Jin," Keiko said. "On thing's for sure -- I'll do my best."
“Good. Now, on to other matters,” he said. “I hear Urameshi’s lost his memory and now only remembers being the Prince of Demons. Is that true?”
“Yes, it is,” she said. “He’s back with Kurama now too.”
“How long has he been like that?” asked the wind master, his ears perking up slightly. “Gay, I mean.”
“They’ve been together for about a month now, since just before the accident, when his mum died” Botan said. “He’s talked about you quite a bit.”
“Has he now?” he said.
“Um, look behind you,” Keiko said, pointing past Jin to a very shocked Yusuke Urameshi, who was walking with Kurama toward them.
“Oh my god!” Yusuke gasped. “Jinshisho! I thought you were dead!”
“I was for a while,” Jin said. “Name’s just plain Jin now, your Majesty.” Yusuke surprised the girls when he threw his arms around the young red-head and hugged him tenderly. Jin smiled, closed his eyes, and returned the embrace. “I’ve missed you, Yusuke.”
“I must say I agree, my dear friend,” he said. “You don’t know how many times I’ve wished you were around. When you died, Kurama and Hiei and I were still just friends.” Kurama chuckled, so Yusuke decided to rephrase the statement. “Well, at least mostly. It wasn’t until a while after you died that he and I were seriously attached to each other.”
“You boys don’t mind if we go for a walk alone, do you?” Jin asked the other demons. Kurama shook his head and just smiled. "Yusuke, if I may be so bold... I’d like to know how you feel about me. I know we’ve been friends since we were kids, but I want to know if we’re more than that now or not.”
“Do you want us to be?” Yusuke asked, smiling.
“Yes, I do,” he said. Yusuke took Jin’s hand and kissed it slowly, softly, sending a shiver up his spine. He got his answer when Yusuke’s lips began to move up his bare arms. “Your Majesty, you’re driving me mad.”
“Already?” he chuckled between kisses. “I haven’t... even started... yet.”
“I take that to mean that we’re more than friends now.”
“You guessed it,” he said. “But that’s not the only reason you came to see me, is it?”
“No, it’s not,” Jin said. “You’ve been asked to defend your title at the Dark Tournament this year. I’m forming a team of my own. Ice Master Touya and Fire Master Kishi are on my team now, as well as a couple other friends of mine. All we need now is an alternate.”
“Sorry, but if I’m defending my title, I can’t,” Yusuke said. “But I might know of someone in my father’s court who’s still around after all these years."
"The only other person I know of that's still around is..." Jin stopped, suddenly realizing who he meant. "You don't mean her, do ya?"
"I think that Makuro would welcome the invitation, even if it meant going up against Hiei again," he said.
