Hiei's Harem - Pt. 1 - Establishment

Scene 28 -------------- The Main Cave


* Before Hiei even enters the cave he detects a somber mood that makes him uncomfortable at first, then angry. The first thing he sees as he presses through the vine curtain is D'Tara embracing her motionless son. Sarista is now laying, exhausted, over on her bed in the alcove. The other females are gathered together over on the other side of the cave. Troiyoku and Silis are seated beside Gamaru, trying to get him to respond to them. Hiei looks at the larger of the young males until he realizes that he's sunk deeper into shock. Hiei quietly moves first to the alcove to check on Sarista. He speaks to her telepathically so he won't disturb the others just yet.


(#) Hiei- Sarista.


* Too exhausted to move, the Alpha Female just closes her eyes.


(#) Sarista- I.. wasn't strong.. enough.. Used too much.. energy.. before..

(#) Hiei- Rest.


* Hiei turns when another sad voice breaks into his thoughts.


(#) Trinka- My skills weren't any help, either.

(#) Hiei- You both did your best.. The fault isn't yours.


* Hiei starts toward Gamaru.


(#) Sarista- Not.. yours, either,.. Hiei.


* Hiei pauses a moment, then continues over to the other males. Troi and Silis look up at him sadly. They watch Hiei push the ward up off of his opened jagan and lower their eyes again. The Koorime sinks to one knee in front of Gamaru. The young demon doesn't even blink as Hiei guides his face up to look into his jagan.


Hiei- (Quietly) You must release your grief, Gamaru.


* Slowly Gamaru's stupor crumbles until soon he collapses against Troiyoku wailing. The other females all look toward them a bit puzzled at the amount of grief Gamaru is showing. It seems not many were aware of the closeness Gamaru shared with D'Garo.


Hiei- You did the best you could against that many demons, Gamaru.. You and Silis have nothing to be ashamed of.. I should have come to your aid sooner or reacted quicker..

Silis- Master, 'Garo fell not long after we intercepted that larger spider.. That demon stabbed him through with one of his fangs. It was going for Gamaru, but 'Garo got in the way.

Gamaru- He saved my life! But I couldn't..


* Hiei reaches over and makes Gamaru look at him again.


Hiei- Sleep now.. When you wake your grief will not be as great..


* Gamaru starts to struggle.


Gamaru- No! Don't make me forget him!!

Hiei- No, you won't forget, but you will not grieve yourself to death, Gamaru.. I won't allow it.. Sleep.. now!


* Hiei's jagan flares brighter until Gamaru finally collapses into unconsciousness. Hiei closes the jagan then moves next to stand beside D'Tara and her son. D'Tara raises her eyes to look up at Hiei and he sees the barely restrained rage in them.


Hiei- Go on.. Speak your mind.


* D'Tara's jaw clenches.


Hiei- Say it!


* Sarista forces herself to sit up, but knows that she won't have the strength to intervene much further.


Sarista- 'Tara,..

Hiei- Shut up.. She needs her own release..

Lily- If she's encouraged much more she'll attack you, M'Lord!

Celestia- You have no idea what you're asking for?!


* Hiei looks at them, but D'Tara gets his attention back when she lays D'Garo down. Even in her angered grief the other females' words get through to her. She stands to her feet, trembling, then turns away to start for the entrance.


Hiei- D'Tara,..

D'Tara- (Strained) I'm.. leaving..

Hiei- What?

D'Tara- I need.. to..

Hiei- To what? Go off and die somewhere?!


* Hiei starts to move around D'Garo to head her off until she glares at him over her shoulder.


D'Tara- You.. have two choices!

Celestia- 'Tara,..

D'Tara- You either.. let me go.. away.. Or be forced to kill me.. to keep me from.. killing you!

Sarista- D'Tara, stop! You're too angry.. to know what you're.. saying!


* Hiei levels his eyes up at the large Hyena female.


Hiei- So, you think you can kill me? Has your anger deluded you that much, Woman?


* Sarista looks toward Hiei nervously. Before she can say anything else, though, D'Tara roars her rage. When the Hyena demoness suddenly charges at Hiei he blinks out of her way. Her failure to catch him only serves to stoke her anger. She turns and sets her wild eyes on him again. When she charges at him this time Hiei takes off out of the cave. Lily yelps when D'Tara slashes her way through the vines in pursuit of him. Lily and the others, except for Sarista and the boys, hurry to the entrance to watch in fear. Hiei is easily darting around to avoid each charge from the anger-crazed female. As the Koorime had figured, D'Tara's energy burns away quickly. Soon enough she collapses to her knees, then forward onto her hands sobbing. Cautiously, Hiei moves closer to her. Her anger has given way to overwhelming sorrow now. When she senses him come over to her she looks up at him.


D'Tara- Please.. j-just.. kill me.. 'Garo was the.. only thing I had.. left..

Hiei- Your grief is understandable, D'Tara.

D'Tara- B-but I.. attacked..

Hiei- Will it make you feel better if I allowed you to hit me?


* In disbelief D'Tara slowly raises up on her knees studying him. Hiei ignores the startled gasps that emit from the cave as he keeps the Hyena's eyes.


D'Tara- Yes.. Then you will have no choice but to kill me.

Hiei- I'm not going to kill you.. I can't bring your son back to you, but I can promise that this will never happen again.. So hit me if you must.


* After a couple tense moments, D'Tara just lowers her eyes then crumples into a heap sobbing again. When Hiei realizes that she's not going to react any further he bends to lay his hand on her head.


Hiei- D'Tara.

D'Tara- No! I can't..!

Hiei- Look up at me.


* She feels compelled to obey and looks up into his jagan. The eye flares briefly and D'Tara slumps to the ground out cold. Celestia growls and starts forward. Hiei closes the jagan and looks up at the Wolf hybrid.


Hiei- She'll rest now.. Come take her back into the cave, Celestia.. Tell Troyo and Silis to bring her son's body out here.


* Hiei rubs his temples as his orders are obeyed. All the females, but Sarista and D'Tara, follow the boys back out of the cave. They watch sadly as Hiei uses his black flames to incinerate the deceased boy. After a couple moments of silence Hiei looks toward the pack.


Hiei- Fox, come with me.


* Lily looks at him surprised.


Hiei- D--- me to h--- for not doing this sooner.


* Lily glances at the others puzzled, then follows Hiei off.
