Scene 23 --------------- Another Territory
* A rather large demon, of some kind of reptilian heritage, enters his large counsel room. He continues cleaning out one of his earholes as he moves nonchalantly to his large chair at the head of the large oval, stone table. The action gives the clear message of his indifference to the other three demons that were waiting on him to show up. The reptilian plops down with a heavy, bored sigh.
Ooshama- Alright. So what the h--- is this all about, ya maggots?
Hitaru(Mumbled)- So much for having your thumb on the pulse of this region.
* Ooshama half glances toward the Coyote demon then removes his finger from his earhole and sniffs it.
Ooshama- What now, Hitaru?
* Ooshama scowls distastefully at his finger then shrugs and wraps his long, snake-like tongue around it. Two of the three demons roll their eyes at each other.
Hitaru- Matsua is dead.
* Ooshama freezes, then looks directly at Hitaru.
Ooshama- Dead?
Asmaroth- Hai, sir. He was killed recently.
Ooshama- By who?!
Yushigu- There’s a new Alpha in the Barren Lands, Ooshama.. He’s been causing quite a stir.
* Ooshama wipes his hand off on the Bat demon seated to his left as he glares at the Rat demon across from him.
Ooshama- Tell me more!
Hitaru- He killed Gamock first.
* Ooshama grunts.
Ooshama- That old b------ was due to pass soon anyway.. I was just biding my time on him.
Asmaroth- He’s also killed Miyarmaru and Bellato. Wiped out the whole Spider clan in one battle.
Yushigu- It’s even rumored that he has claimed Sylk.
* Ooshama’s eyes flare, then he chuckles.
Ooshama- That’s impossible.. No self-respecting alpha would have anything to do with that bunch of stubborn, rebellious b----es.. I was only biding my time on her to be killed off, too.
Hitaru- Well, while you’ve been sitting here on your a--.. biding your time..
* Ooshama leans to growl at the rogue Coyote that's seated on his right side.
Ooshama- You, mangy mutt, had best bide your tone with me!
* The scarred mark on the Coyote’s bared chest, just above his heart, begins to burn causing the rogue to hunch forward.
Hitaru- F-for-give me,.. Mas-ter.. Please..
* Ooshama looks toward the other two demons. Lower Alpha males that he’s placed the same mark on when he defeated them many years ago.
Ooshama- What else can you tell me?
* Asmaroth and Yushigu look at each other nervously.
Ooshama- Do you wish to join in Hitaru's pain?
Yushigu- We’ve told you all that we know, Master Ooshama.
Asmaroth- He’s a very.. lucky demon so far.. That’s all.. There’s nothing really special about him.
* Hitaru glances toward the Bat and Rat demons. Ooshama leans back in his chair again, rubbing his flabby chin.
Ooshama- You may be right, but I’d better not take anymore chances.. I’ve come too far in my quest to take control of this region.
* The reptilian demon looks at the Rat demon Asmaroth.
Ooshama- You say he’s killed Miyarmaru?
Asmaroth- Hai.
Yushigu- And Matsua, and..
Ooshama- I heard you!
* Ooshama raises a hand to the pendant on his neck.
Ooshama- Come to me, Kuli!
* In a few moments an Owl demon enters through one of the glassless windows and lands on the table in front of Ooshama.
Ooshama- Fly toward Gamock’s Ravine.. A new alpha has taken over there. Find out what you can and report back to me.
* The Owl demon bobs his head.
Ooshama- On your way, stop by Tiyarmaru’s Territory and tell him to come see me.. I have a new proposal that just may sway that b------ finally.
* With that, Ooshama shuffles his way back out of the room. Kuli glances toward the three demons that remain, then leaves the same way he entered. The Bat demon, Yushigu, closes his eyes to concentrate and form an isolation barrier around the oval table.
Hitaru- This is suicide, Bat!
Asmaroth- Do you wish to spend the rest of your pathetic life cowering under that slob?
* The Coyote growls and snaps his jaws angrily as he rubs his sore chest.
Yushigu- This new demon may be our last chance to rid ourselves of Ooshama.
Hitaru- Is this why you two didn’t tell him everything?
Asmaroth- You know as much as we.. Why didn’t you speak up?
Yushigu- Enough! This new alpha is strong enough to take out Ooshama.. All we have to do is go to him, convince him that we’re his allies..
Asmaroth- Hmm, yes.. Then when he takes out this fat slob.. We ambush him.
* Yushigu nods with a deep chuckle.
Yushigu- Then we can battle each other on an even level.. Winner takes all.
Hitaru- You’re still forgetting the other three alphas.
Asmaroth- Tiyarmaru is too stubborn to give in to Ooshama.. Perhaps this meeting will bring the end to that Tiger’s existance.
Yushigu- Hai, hai.. As far as the Wolf Belatto’s son that’s taken over.. He’s young. I can have him eating out of my hand in no time.
Hitaru- Then that still leaves Sylk.
* Asmaroth waves a hand unconcernedly.
Asmaroth- She and her daughter, as well as the rest of that nuisance pack, are all knocked up. They’ll be easy to take out.. Right now, all we’d have to do is threaten her little b---- Eboni like Matsua did and Sylk’ll fold the same way.
* Asmaroth licks his crooked, whiskered muzzle.
Asmaroth- I can’t wait to hump her as I rip open her..
* Yushigu glares at the Rat with a hiss.
Yushigu- You?! Why you?!
* As the two glare and posture at each other Hitaru rolls his eyes.
Hitaru- You two figure it out. I’m out of here for now.
* The Coyote slips through the isolation barrier. He glances back to watch the Rat and Bat continue their silenced arguing. The rogue shakes his head and leaves. In the hallway he shifts into his full Coyote demon form and lopes his way casually out of the large, mostly empty fortress. Once outside the unguarded gate he pauses to look back over his shoulder at the old, dark structure. It still amazes Hitaru as he dwells on the situation a moment. This demon, Ooshama, has no army. His only assets in rising to the status that he has is his slightly-above-A power level and that infernal skill of being able to enslave those he conquers. Hitaru lowers his head, growls his disgust at the memory of his own fall at the slimy, webbed hands of Ooshama, ‘Let them keep their stupid plans.. I have my own.’ Hitaru then slinks away, with a smirk on his lips, into the dark Black Ash tree forest surrounding the fortress.
