Scene 21 ------------ The Main Gate
* When Hiei arrives he finds Dagon being confronted by a small group of demons.
Hiei- What’s the problem?
Dagon- Here he is.
1st Young Demon- Hai, Father. That’s him.
2nd Young Demon- That’s the one that killed Matsua.
* Hiei recognizes the speakers as two of the demons that left yesterday. He sets his gaze, though, on the taller, winged demon that looks to be a cross between a Pteranadon and a bat.
Hiei- Hn. I’m the one.. I take it you have a problem with this?
* The older male steps forward to look Hiei over. The Koorime’s gaze doesn’t flinch from the imposing, purple-skinned demon.
Pterayu- My name is Pterayu.
Hiei- Of course it is.
* Pterayu now relaxes to give a few hearty squawks that must be his rendition of laughter. Hiei crosses his arms.
Pterayu- In killing Matsua, you have set my two sons free.
* The reptillian bird motions toward the younger males.
Pterayu- I had made several attempts to free them myself.. What you see before you is what’s left of the large flock I once ruled.
* Hiei spares a glance around at the half dozen similarly-winged demons.
Hiei- Why are you here now? Your sons are free..
Pterayu- I came to thank you.. To pledge my life to..
Hiei- Woah!
* Hiei raises a hand when the male starts to sink to his knees.
Hiei- I’ll accept only your thanks.. Now take your sons and go in peace.
* Pterayu straightens back up and looks at Dagon with clear befuddlement. Hiei turns to go back into the complex.
Pterayu- He’s refusing my..?
Dagon- Don’t feel so bad, Cousin.. He’s rejected me, too.. He’s just not feeling too ambitious right now.
* Hiei stops and turns to look back at them.
Hiei- Cousin?
Dagon- Hai.. Ptera’s Mother was my Father’s sister.
Hiei- Big surprise.
Pterayu- It’s an insult to refuse one’s offer of gratitude.
Hiei- Oh h---.. Fine, pledge your loyalty to me if you wish.. But I’m not marking anyone today.
* Hiei turns and continues on his way. Dagon grins with a nod as he looks back at his cousin.
Dagon- That’s normal for him, I’m learning.. Why not come in and have lunch, Ptera? It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other. We can catch up on stuff.
Pterayu- Sounds like fun, Cuz.
* Hiei pauses near the entrance of the brood building to watch the group move toward Dagon’s new house. He then shakes his head as he turns to go inside. Shironji poofs in front of him.
Shironji- More new allies?
Hiei- It’s almost as if I have no control over this, Shironji.
* Shironji settles onto Hiei’s shoulder as the Koorime continues into the building.
Shironji- Well, some demons are born to greatness. While others have it thrust upon them.
* Hiei glances a scowl toward the tailed demon on his shoulder.
Hiei- Aren’t you supposed to be watching that Panther b----?
Shironji- She wore herself out trying to get past my barrier.. She’s currently out cold again.
Hiei- D---.
* He flicks Shironji off of his shoulder.
Hiei- Go back to my ravine and check on my pack.. But don’t reveal yourself to any of them.. You can inform Habataro and his brothers of this new mess.
Shironji- Yes, sir.
* Shironji disappears and Hiei gives another annoyed curse as he continues toward the special holding room.
