Ch. 2 

 

‘Are you ready Hiei?’ “Hn’ Kurama chuckled taking that as a yes and gave Yusuke a nod to get started. They had all been given false id’s and other useful items by Botan prior to leaving spirit world and found it all to easy to walk right through the front doors without to much of a fuss. “I think that might be are head scientist.” Kurama murmered an hour later with a slight tilt of the head toward a short black haired man with glasses and a white coat. “Huh. Whatever gave you that idea.” Yusuke smirked. This was gonna be all to easy. ‘We’ve found the scientist Hiei. How are things going on your end?’ ‘Hn. The monkey’s drawing to much attention.’ It came out as a growl. Kurama had to cover a small smile. ‘But have you found the target?’ ‘Yes. Just waiting for you.’ ‘Alright. We’re ready when you are.’ ‘Hn.’ 

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN WITH OUR SECOND TEAM

 The sound of steel drawing caused all eyes to turn to the odd team. “Uh..I take it that means there ready…” Kuwabara chuckled nervously. Hiei gave a bloodthirsty smirk. “Just get inside and get the target.”  Kuwabara nodded. It would be Hiei’s job to get rid of the guards while Kuwabara grabbed the target. He turned to the door just as it opened and the scietist stuck his head out. “What in the world is….” He was cut off when Kuwabara grabbed him by the neck and knocked him out. He slipped inside and let the door close shut behind himself. Looking around his eyes grew wide. It was like something out of a sci fi movie. There were machines everywhere making little beeping noises and graphs scratching across paper. In the center of it all was a tall cylindrical tube. As Kuwabara drew closer he gasped in shock. Inside wasw a young girl no more than 5 or 6. Long white hair floated about her small delicate face, her small legs were curled up into her chest and her arms were wrapped around them. “It’s just a kid!” Kuwabara grumbled and looked around for a place to put the key. A pounding on the door caught his attention. “Is that you Hiei?” He yelled. “Hn.” Kuwabara opened the door and blinked at the carnage, then again at a spotless Hiei. ‘How does he do all that without getting so much a drop of blood on him?’ Kuwabara wondered to himself. “It’s just a kid man. I can’t find the opening think though.” Kuwabara said as  Hiei pushed past him. Hiei walked to the tube and pointed to a slit in it. “Oh…” Kuwabara said stupidly. Hiei studied the girl while he waited. What he saw disgusted him. She was just a small ningen. What could she possibly know about a Makai crime syndicate that would justify putting her in a situation like this? She wasn’t even properly dressed. Thin strips of white cloth covered her entire body. (Kinda like the chick on fifth element only going all the way down to her ankles on the legs.) Suddenly there was a load boom and the water in the tube began to drain until the girl lay it a fetal position at the bottem of the tank. The glass finally began to lift causing what little was left to rush over the floor around their feet. ‘Hiei we’re fighting our way out now. How are you doing?’ ‘Guards are neutralized. We just got the kid out. We’ll be on our way out in a few moments.’ Hiei replied. “Good. I’ll let you know if we run into any more problems.” “Grab the kid. We need to get going.” Hiei said and turned to leave. “Hey I think she’s waking up!” Kuwabara shouted causing Hiei to growl. “Hey, hey, you ok?” Kuwabara asked gently as the little girls eyes fluttered open. ’big brother?’ Kuwabara jerked. The girls lips hadn’t moved but he was sure it had been him. Hiei’s head whipped toward them and noted Kuwabara’s confused expression and the girls golden eyes. “She’s telepathic.” He stated. ’And clearly not a ningen.’ he thought to himself with narrowed eyes. ’big brother?’ The voice called again. “Uh, sorry but I’m not your big brother.” Kuwabara said uncomfortably. The girl frowned and cocked her head before her eyes shifted to the now groaning scentist on the floor. He turned over and paled at the site before him. “What have you done!?!” He croaked in a terrified whisper. The man began to shake. “You fools! He’ll kill you! He’ll kill us all!” He shrieked crawling away from them. Hiei watched as the little girl got to her feet but stumbled and fell into Kuwabara with a frown. “Woah there little one. Gotta be more careful.” Kuwabara said gently striating the girl out but it didn’t look like she was listening to him. Slowly she bent down till she was crawling on hands and knees toward the scientist who began screaming incoherently and shaking his head. The girl reached him and gently put her hands on his face cocking her head to the side. ‘Where is big brother?’  “I…I…I don’t know!” The man blubbered. The girls eye’s narrowed. ‘Liar!’ Hiei shivered in pleasure at the pure hatred that filled that one simple word before she twisted the mans neck. The loud crack and the man gurgle filled the room. “What the hell!” Kuwabara shouted. The girl sat back and half twisted to look at him…and smiled. ‘Where is big brother?’ She asked again. Kuwabara shifted his feet. “I don’t know.” He mumbled watching her closely. ‘Kurama. What does your target look like?’ ‘Just a kid. Male, white hair, 5 maybe 6 years of age. Quite odd. Why?’ ‘Has he woken?’ ‘No. Why Hiei what’s going on?’ ‘Our targets the same. Young girl, white hair, gold eyes, 5 or 6...and we just watched her snap the scientists neck like a twig.’ Kurama frowned and looked at the boy. ‘Sibilngs?’ ‘ Hn. Most likely.’ ‘Were at the meeting location now. Where are you?’ ‘We’re on our way.’ “The others have already made it back. They might have the girls brother with them. Let’s get going.” Hiei said and made his way to the door. The girl blinked up at him and then at Kuwabara. ‘I’ve upset you…are you afraid of me now?’ She asked. Kuwabara shook his head and Hiei snorted. “No but you shouldn’t have done that.” Kuwabara told the girl before picking her up and carrying her out the door bridal style. ‘He lied. I could smell it.’ “That’s no reason to kill someone though.” Kuwabara frowned at her. Her eyes were starting to flutter down. ‘Oh. Your nice.’ her drowsy voice said before her eyes fluttered closed and her body slumped.

“Wow. Think their twins?” Yusuke asked once they’d all gotten to together. “I would say it’s defiantly a possibility.” Kurama murmured staring at the children now sitting side by side.  Everything from the length of their hair to their clothing was the same. Including the black dog collars wrapped around their necks. “What do you thinks up with the collars?” Yusuke asked curiously. The other’s shook their heads. “More importantly…where’s Botan?” Kurama asked. “Right here.” Chirped a voice behind them as a portal opened and she waved  them in. Once they had passed over the children were taken away to be examined. “Well done you four. Any problems?” Koenma asked. Kurama and Yusuke shook their heads. “The girl can speak telepathically. She’s defiantly not a ningen either.” Hiei said staring Koenma down. “Oh? That’s good to know…” Koenma said shifting uncomfortably. Kurama’s eye’s narrowed. ‘He’s hiding something.’ ‘Hn. That’s what I thought to.’ ‘Sigh. Well there’s no point in pushing. He’s obviously not going to tell us what’s going on and it’s no longer our problem.’ ‘Hn’ “ Well I think you all deserve a long awaited break!” Koenma giggled nervously. Yusuke shrugged. “Works for me. “Hn.” “Is it paid?” Kurama asked in an innocent voice that belied the calculating look in his eyes. Koenma squirmed as all four pairs of eyes leveled on him. “Fine!” He huffed. “HELL YA!” Both Yusuke and Kuwabara yelled with grins. Hiei gave an almost invisible smirk before they all turned to leave.
