Chapter Two

Author’s Note

Hi guys!

No one’s reviewed..... I feel like I’ve lost my touch. T-T

I’m working at getting better at writing again! So, stay with me guys while I get better at writing..

So, I have a question guys! I still haven't decided on whether or not I want Hiei and Kurama to end up together in the end or not. :/ I'm still iffy about that. What do you guys think? Should I have them end up together or not?

Kura

P.S. Kura wrote the one-shot of Sasuke in heels.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Days seemed to fly by while Hiei suffered numbly through the pain. In an effort to keep the pain from deepening, Hiei trained harder, working with his army some days, training with Mukuro others. He spent a majority of his time just training. He never took a day off anymore. Training was far more important. Hiei had nothing left besides his name, and the expectation that he would one day be the leader of Mukuro’s territory.

It was through all this that Hiei’s morals and values changed. He’d become cold, calculating, and ruthless. The compassion and little love that he had learned from Kurama had been forgotten. Hiei had vowed to never hear that name spoken in front of him again, nor did he want anything to do with it. Any time Hiei even got a whiff of roses, he sought out the source and destroyed it. He didn’t cut it up with his katana. No, the smell would have still been there all the same. Instead, he burned it with his black flame.

Hiei was known for eliciting fear in most demons lower-class than him, but the fear was gone, instead, it was pure terror. It had become an unspoken rule that if you weren’t Mukuro, and had done something to piss Hiei off enough, you were dead. Hiei’s temper was very, very short. Which left demons with the only option, run. When they saw Hiei coming towards them, they took off in the opposite direction. When a demon couldn’t avoid Hiei, they followed his orders, doing the best that they could to not disappoint him.

Hiei was suffering in pain alone and while he was training to get stronger and stronger, the pain in his body was nothing compared to the pain of his heart. Hiei only hid the pain he felt in his heart with the pain in his body. He was sure Mukuro knew why he was upset, but she had said nothing of it, knowing it was none of her business. As long as her heir didn’t become suicidal, she would let him grieve in peace.

It was a week later that Hiei heard the news from an informant that Kurama had proposed and was getting married. Hiei only knew the terminology because Kurama had sought to teach him more about the ningen culture. Hiei made sure to receive reports every four-five days on the statuses of his former colleagues. They were no longer Hiei’s friends. He had abandoned them when Kurama had abandoned him.

It was that news that brought about a mental break down. Hiei had thrown things, he had burned things, he had tossed things around, Hiei had even broken things when he had found out. By the time Hiei had calmed down, his whole room was shredded to pieces and there wasn’t a single piece of useable furniture. Hiei had taken off after that, leaving behind the empty shell of the room. When Mukuro had seent he damaged room, she had said nothing about the single photograph in the picture frame that lay among charred remains untouched. Mukuro had taken that photo away and ordered servants to clean up Hiei’s apartments.

Hiei hadn’t come back for two days. When he had come back, he was bloody, torn and admitted to Mukuro’s infirmary. Mukuro put Hiei into a healing chamber, letting him recuperate. As he recuperated, Mukuro had sent the undamaged photograph of Hiei, Kurama, Yusuke, Kuwabara, and botan to rest with Hiei’s clothes at the foot of the recuperation chamber.

After that, Hiei’s destructive tantrum was gone. When he’d gotten better, he didn’t try and destroy furniture anymore. He never said where he had been to get those injuries, but clearly it had only served to make him angrier and then calmed him down sort of at the same time.

Hiei had changed and learned from the pain. Now that he knew that like Kurama, his friends were untrustworthy, Hiei had sought to spy on them, not trusting any of them to not be planning to kill him. As irrational and extreme this was, it was understandable.

Hiei had trusted very few people in his life time, and loved even fewer. In fact, the few people Hiei even really, truly trusted could be counted on one hand. Mukuro, Yusuke, Yukina, and at one time, Kurama would have been at the top of the list while Mukuro would have been second, Yusuke third, and Yukina fourth. Yukina was last because Hiei didn’t trust Yukina to actually love him as her brother. Kurama had lost his position of trust with Hiei when he had broken up with Hiei.

The people Hiei had loved required only two fingers at one point. Now, they only required one finger. Yukina. Hiei loved his sister as much as he could, and as much love as his cold, broken heart could offer. Kurama, his lover had always been first in Hiei’s life and heart. Hiei had always thought about his fox, worried for his fox. Hiei had had a demon keep tabs on Kurama when they had been together, wanting to ensure his lover had been okay while Hiei had been training under Mukuro or away on other business in the Makai.

In the end, the demon Hiei had used to keep tabs on his ex-lover had been killed by Hiei for fear of their secret relationship being found out. Hiei had had a new army of small demons spy on Yusuke, Kuwabara and Kurama. He told the demons to be especially wary of Kurama, and Yusuke. Hiei wasn’t too worried about his demons being spotted by the oaf. For Yukina, Hiei used his Jagan to check on her once daily. The time Hiei spent checking on his sister was the time during which he did some of Mukuro’s paper work or while he was listening to status reports on the other territories.

When the four to five day update reports on his colleagues came, Hiei listened and with his Jagan checked on his sister, making sure she was happy. Once that was reassured, he listened to the reports, finding most of them to be inconsequential.

After a month of hearing the same information again and again, Hiei had changed his orders. Whenever the team met together, including Botan, they were to report to him immediately after the meeting and tell him what they were talking about. Hiei gave the demon following Kurama specific instructions. If Kurama ever captured it, it would die without spilling its’ secrets or its’ masters orders. Hiei released the demon, and watched it scurry away.

From behind him, an all too familiar voice spoke “For someone that has said they no longer care about their former team mates, you seem to care a lot about Kurama, Hiei.” Hiei turned to stare at Mukuro, ruby red orbs staring at her with an intensity that made most demons shrink in fear. He spoke, his voice coming out as harsh and cold as hers “He and the detective are the biggest threats to me. I am keeping tabs on my enemies.” Mukuro smirked and said gliding past Hiei “If that is what you truly wish to believe Hiei, then be my guest.”

Hiei watched Mukuro leave with hateful eyes as she called to him “You should know by now that I am immune to your temper tantrums Hiei.” She said nothing more as she shut the door behind her, leaving Hiei alone with his dark thoughts.
