Chapter 2: The Courting Begins
*****
Hiei had just finished his solitary lunch of a large bowl of soup in the ramen restaurant run by one of the gang’s family, so he would get free lunches whenever he wanted. Taking a deep breath from his full belly, Hiei felt arms travel over his shoulders and soft hands work their way into his open jacket.
“Looks like I found you this time, ne?” a familiar soft, alto voice whispered into his ear.
Hiei nearly fell out of his chair as he tried to turn too fast to face the stranger with bright mischievous green eyes, he looked down the half opened blue plaid button up to the skin tight jeans that hung to every curve of his long slim legs, “Who are you? Wh-what are you doing here? Are you stalking me or something?”
“I told you, my name’s Kurama, and I’m just your ordinary, everyday teenager,” the red head gave a brilliant smile, “and I’m not stalking you,” his hands grasped at the hardened muscles of the shorter boy’s perfectly shaped chest, “I’m… desperately seeking your attention.”
“Why?” his red eyes narrowed, to deadly slits.
“Why?” Kurama pondered aloud, slipping his arms around Hiei’s neck, making the other boy turn to face him their lips barely an inch apart, and was about to answer when he stopped to take a look at their surroundings. The customers had decided that their meals all came with a free show. “Hm, it might be a little too crowded for us to discuss that in here.”
Before Hiei could even question what the crazy red head was talking about and what was going on, Kurama had taken up his wrist and was dragging him out the door, and into a nearby alley.
Basically throwing the shorter boy to the brick wall, Kurama pinned Hiei’s body with his own, licking his lips hungrily, “Now, as I was trying to say, earlier… I take what I want.”
“And what is it that you want exactly,” Hiei growled, his body tensing, ready for a fight to keep his leadership of his gang.
“I,” he brought his face closer and closer with every word, “Want. You.”
“Huh?” Hiei was too stunned to stop the strange boy from kissing him, softly and slowly.
Kurama lips were so soft and warm, Hiei completely lost himself in the sweetness of the taller boy’s taste. He didn’t even notice the tongue Kurama had somehow slithered into his mouth until their tongues were entangled and sparring one another. They didn’t pull away until their lungs were about ready to burst for air.
“Mmm,” Kurama licked his lips, “I see that you had the chicken ramen for lunch today.”
Hiei just stared wide eyed as a dark blush came over his cheeks, making Kurama giggle.
“You’re so adorable.”
“Nobody calls me adorable and lives,” Hiei threatened.
“Oh, yeah?” the taller boy leaned in even closer, making their noses touch and rub together, sweetly. “We’ll see about that,” he was about to lean in even closer their lips about to touch when…
CRASH. Kurama turned to see what had made the racket and saw a small white almost silver looking kitten hidden amongst the trash come stumbling out, obviously hungry and looking for food, with a seconds worth of thought Kurama turned back to finish what he and Hiei had started, but apparently the shorter boy had made a break for it when he got the chance. Feeling alone and unsatisfied, Kurama turned around to see the kitten still sitting in front of the trash can, a piece of rubbish stuck on its ear. Giggling, the red head swept down to pick the creature up and clean it off a bit. With a quick look around he decided that the poor thing was an orphan and took it home with him.
Meanwhile, Hiei watched from around the corner as Kurama played with the tiny creature. What a kind soul, entered Hiei’s thoughts, but ran off as Kurama picked up the poor creature and turned to leave.
*****
What was that about? Hiei couldn’t get the burning hot passionate kiss out of his mind. The thought of their tongues slithering over one another dancing together sent an unsettling feeling to the pit of his stomach, not necessarily bad, but it was just not what he had ever expected to feel.
Once in the sanctuary of his empty apartment, he threw himself on the couch lighting another cigarette as he flipped on the TV in hopes of forgetting all about the haunting kiss.
I’m not gay…am I? I mean I’ve never had any interest in guys before…but I guess I’ve never had any real interest in girls either. I don’t want to have to deal with relationships. I don’t like people and they don’t like me. Not even my gang likes me, they fear me, they respect me, but none of them like me... I don’t trust anyone. I don’t let anyone get near me… So, how had that boy gotten past my defenses so easily? He’s so pretty and so sweet… Why does he want me?
Hiei watched, nonchalantly as the stream of smoke escaped his lips, swirling into nonsense patterns that his mind automatically wandered to comparing the whirls of smoke to the way Kurama's hair blew in the wind and the way his hips swung back and forth whenever he walked. Taking another drag on the cigarette, Hiei’s eyes slid closed as his hand trailed over his chest down to his pants where he finds that he is now sporting a large bulge in front of his pants.
WHAT THE HELL!!! Hiei stamped out the cigarette and took a very long, very cold shower.
*****
The weekend had taken too long to pass, Hiei taking more cold showers than he had ever had to. After school Hisashi showed up at the brick wall in a somber mood, not his usual loud idiotic self at all.
Kagami laughed the second he saw the big idiot, “So, what do you think of your pretty ‘girlfriend’ now?”
“Shut up,” both Hisashi and Hiei responded.
“What’s wrong with you, Hiei?”
“Nothing,” he growled, which always shut everyone up.
“Hey, look there’s the pretty ‘girl’ in the guy’s uniform,” Kagami pointed out, “and he’s coming this way.”
Hisashi paled, and Kagami laughed his nonexistent ass of.
Hiei looked up, nearly dropping his cigarette when he saw that set of bright green eyes were boring into him. He felt his cheeks start to burn bright red.
“Hey, love,” he bent over right in front of Hiei, and passed a hand through the black spikes of hair as he pulled the cigarette from Hiei’s hand and stomping out on the ground.
“Hn,” Hiei looked away, but a soft hand made him look into that all too alluring beauty. When Kurama gave him a sweet smile, Hiei nearly melted. “Get lost,” Hiei demanded.
“Huh? Hiei what’s going on?” one of the boys on either side of Hiei asked cautiously.
When the two didn’t get the hint, “I said,” he turned to Kagami then to Hisashi, “get…lost.”
“OHH!” the two boys got the idea, “Eww,” and they walked off not daring to say another word in hopes of keeping their lives.
“Mmm,” Kurama leaned in closer, “I knew you’d see things my way,” and closed the gap between their lips.
“Hmph,” Hiei rolled his eyes as Kurama played with his lips, nipping at them in hopes of gaining entrance, but failed. When Kurama pulled away, “What do you think you’re doing?”
Kurama giggled, pressing their noses together again, “I’m taking what I want. Mmm, and I really want you.” He put a hand on the wall next to Hiei’s head, and leaned in closer again while his other hand was placed behind Hiei’s neck, and pulled the shorter boy in for a longer kiss that had him trying to force his tongue down Hiei’s throat as much as possible, but Hiei kept his teeth clinched shut. Kurama pouted that Hiei had denied him access when he had already tasted the delicious insides of his cute little mouth.
When they pulled apart Hiei continued to question the red head’s motives, “Why?”
“Because,” he smiled at him, “you’re my prince charming, and I’m your gender confused princess.”
“Whatever, I’m starving. I’m going to go get something to eat you’re free to join me if you want.”
“Ooh, our first date?”
“Call it what you want, but I ain’t paying for you.”
Kurama just giggled, and grabbed on to Hiei’s hand.
When they got to one of Hiei’s favorite restaurants, the owner of the place who had known Hiei for a long time was happy to see Hiei with a girl, “So Hiei, is this your girlfriend?” he seated the couple.
“Yes,” Kurama answered for him, “this is our first date.”
“Oh, that’s so charming, I remember my first date with my wife, I took her out to the amusement park and won her a bunch of stuffed animals. Oh yes, we had so much fun, and I knew that she would be my wife one day.”
“Oh that’s so sweet,” Kurama giggled like a school girl, grabbing on to the other boy’s strong arm with one hand while the other played with his long hair, “I hope Hiei feels the same way about me.”
Hiei turned bright pink.
“Oh, I’m sure he does. Since this is your first date, and you make such a cute couple, I’ll let you two eat for free, okay?” he smiled at the boys, giving them their menus, and letting them be alone for a minute before coming to take their order.
It turned out that Kurama was a great conversationalist when he wasn’t trying to get into Hiei’s pants. Kurama asked about Hiei’s life, but, of course, Hiei didn’t answer, so Kurama went on to tell Hiei about what he wanted from school, how he wanted to study biology and help with medical science and plants. Apparently, Kurama wasn’t any better off than himself. He lived alone, because his parents were killed in a building bombing, and he went on to talk about the kind of music he liked the books he was currently reading… Hiei learned that deep down, Kurama, the sexiest creature he had ever met, was a complete nerd.
After they had eaten, Kurama looked at his watch, and jumped up, “Oh, um, sorry, Love. I’m late for work, I have to go,” he leaned over the table and kissed Hiei quickly before rushing out the door leaving a dazed spiky haired boy in a booth with a bag of leftovers and warm wet lips.
*****
The week passed quickly, Kurama giving Hiei a quick kiss after he got out of school before running off to work always trying to get Hiei to relax his jaw and let him in. On Friday, Hiei realized that Kurama had gone in different directions every day when he was going to work.
