Chapter Two
~All right…. So I went on a long hiatus. I can explain… you see I couldn’t decide what to do with this story. I couldn’t figure out if I was going to write it as originally planned or change it. So I took a long break from it… waiting to see what the people wanted. Which only made me lose it further and I hit writers block. Then I had like 50 other stories bombard me, and I am longing right now to write one of them, but I promised to finish this one first, so now I have decided after college has loosened up for me a little bit, to continue this story and just go with the original idea. I won’t say what it is as it will destroy the story for you, but I do hope you like it, and I will have a surprise at the end of this fic for everyone anyway! So Read and Review… and I look forward to all of your opinions on how this story ends up.~
Disclaimers: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or its characters… wish I did though. The series and movies would have been so much better if I did. In other words do not bother trying to sue you won’t get anything. I am just a poor college student.
Shadow Lover: Chapter Two
“Has anyone talked to Kurama?” Yusuke asked staring right at Hiei. It wasn’t like Kurama to be late, nor was it normal for Hiei to arrive before Kurama. He didn’t want to jump to conclusions that something was wrong with Kurama… but for him to be an hour and a half late for a group meeting was just not his style.
“Hn.” Hiei shook his head. He hadn’t heard from Kurama either, and he could understand the detective’s concern. It was out of character for Kurama to be so late.
“I tried to call him, but I didn’t get an answer, went by his house and didn’t get an answer either.. sorry.” Botan said softly shrugging her shoulders. She was concerned about Kurama… they all were, even Hiei in his own way.
“Hn.” Hiei moved away from the wall to go and look for Kurama, when the door to the area of Genkai’s temple where they were meeting slid opened and Kurama walked in. Hiei’s eyes immediately narrowed in surprise and for the first time ever he was caught completely off guard. Kurama… looked… awful! His hair was a mess, he was wearing wrinkled clothing, and he looked like he hadn’t slept in months. What the hell happened to him?
“Kurama where the hell have you… Kurama are you all right?” Yusuke was about to go off on the red head when he actually turned around to look at him. Kurama had black circles under his eyes, they were red and puffy, and he looked like he had been through hell and back.
“I-I am fine… I am sorry I am late I overslept.” Kurama couldn’t bring himself to look at anyone, he felt overly exposed with all of them staring at him like he was some sort of alien. His paranoia immediately kicked in. They know… they know I am forbidden now… more so than Hiei… oh god… Hiei… Kurama looked up at Hiei for a moment, and then looked away seeing the shock on his face.
“Kurama…”
“Look I just didn’t sleep well last night Yusuke… can we just get on with the meeting and will you all stop staring at me like I am a freak sideshow!”
Everyone’s mouths hit the floor as Kurama yelled at them and merely took a step back. Yusuke cleared his throat and looked to everyone else in hopes that they will follow his lead as he made his way to the floor to sit across from Koenma.
Koenma stared at Kurama for another moment before allowing his eyes to slide away and look to everyone else. He could feel the concern for Kurama in the room, it radiated from everyone so thickly it was suffocating. His eyes held Genkai’s for a moment, but seeing her shake her head he knew that she couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Kurama.
“The reason I called this meeting was to tell you that the walls between the Ningenkai and the Makai has been breached, by what we do not know, but we have a feeling that in the next couple of days something will be happening that you all will…”
Kurama found himself tuning out, his thought pattern was shifting, he couldn’t seem to focus, something was going on inside of him and he wasn’t too sure what. His body felt hot, flushed, and he felt like he was burning from the inside out. He raised his head to look up at everyone to see if they felt any different, but everyone was listening to Koenma. A soft sigh fell from his lips before he lowered his head once more, biting his bottom lip. It was all in his head, he knew this, last night had seriously messed with him, and his mental capacity was too focused on the horrors of the previous night, and was playing tricks on him.
What would everyone think of him if he told them what had happened last night? What would they say? What would Hiei say? Would he be disgusted? Would he turn his back on him? He closed his eyes wanting to shut out the thoughts, but ended up one step further in all of this. Vivid flashes of the night before played behind those closed lids. He could feel him inside of him again; feel the fear that had coursed through his veins, and the pleasure all in the same breath.
Hiei watched Kurama in silence. He looked as if something was bothering him, something no one else knew about. He could have easily found out, but Kurama would know, and though no one knew it he cared for the Fox and felt it wouldn’t be fair for him to pry into his business if he didn’t want to tell anyone. It hurt that Kurama wouldn’t look at him, nor did he move to sit near him as he had always done, even when he stood. Something was bothering Kurama, but he couldn’t figure out what without using his jagan, and he wasn’t about to betray the trust of Kurama.
But what was he hiding?
So he couldn’t probe Kurama’s thoughts for the answer to that question, which meant he’d have to wait… or did it? It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out something was wrong with the fox. Heh, even the oaf could have figured it out. He just didn’t understand Kurama; most of the time he couldn’t get him to shut up, but when the fox appeared to need someone the most he locked his words away in a façade of anger. Baka kitsune.
“Until I have more information for you on this new threat I would advise you all to be careful, and to keep a close eye out for anything unusual… you may go.”
That was all he needed to hear. Kurama stood quickly and practically fled the room in a run, all the way toward the steps of the temples as if the gods were after him themselves, only to draw to a sharp stop when his gaze landed on a single figure standing in his path in front of the stairs to Genkai’s temple.
“H-Hiei…”
“Fox.” Hiei stood there in silence his blood red eyes locked on his fox’s. Wait… when did he become my fox? Hn… does it really matter right now? He studied Kurama’s face in silence narrowing his eyes slightly. He didn’t need his jagan to see the need to flee written clearly in Kurama’s face and eyes. His frown turned deeper.
“You seem in a hurry…”
“I…” Kurama paused hoping that Hiei hadn’t noticed the flinch at his words of him being in a hurry. He could feel the pounding need coursing through his body, and if Hiei had his jagan he would have sensed it, if he didn’t already. Kurama stood there trying to ease into his normal calm countenance; to keep his heart from fluttering deeply at the fact that he was worried that Hiei… knew.
Hiei frowned seeing the conflicting emotions warring on the kitsune’s face for a moment before Kurama was able to ease himself into his usual calm demeanor. He would have sigh if it had not been out of character for him to do so. After so long a friendship he thought Kurama would feel they could share anything with each other. After all… he had shared the fact that he was Yukina’s brother with him.
“If you need to talk Fox…” Hiei letting nothing show on his face left the offer hanging between them before he flittered away allowing Kurama his means of escape… for now.
Kurama watched him go, frozen in his spot for a moment staring at the spot where Hiei had once been. He was shocked… to say the least… that Hiei had been so quick to come to him and offer himself as a listener. Dare he take him up on the offer? As quickly as that thought came to mind it was quickly crushed under the sharp pain of hunger that laced through him yet again. No. He couldn’t go to Hiei with this… especially Hiei… firming his revelation he took off running again, he needed to get as far away from the others as possible, and out of the open where he couldn’t be spotted by the fire demon.
Up in one of Genkai’s trees Hiei watched the fox take off running after sensing a heavy laced pain flow through him. Hiei frowned. Something was seriously wrong with Kurama… and he wasn’t sure what it was, but he had a feeling that eventually Kurama wouldn’t have a choice but to come to someone with it… he just hoped it was himself Kurama chose… as he did not think he would be able to dampen the rising tide of jealousy he knew would be the reaction to such a thing.
Be careful fox…

Dark had long since fallen, all in the Ningenkai had long since retired to their beds. The night itself was lovely, in a dark mysterious way. The moon was full, clouds danced over her round surface caressing her as if a lover long missed, fog rolled in thick waves down the streets, the air was thick, the smell of rain floating in through the cracks that windows tended to leave in homes. It was a night that would have been written in some cheesy vampire romance novel, and perhaps it was the perfect setting for the one tossing in the bed.
The shadow figure of a lone person in the room stared at the figure fighting the bonds that held him to bed before him. A lovely sight to his eyes, red hair fanned out on those black sheets like blood, the pale body coated in a thick sheen of sweat. He knew what was happening to the poor thing, and he had come to alleviate him of the hunger threatening to consume him. It had been hell to get the bonds on the pretty red head, but in the end it had been worth it. The beautiful one had been nude, not a shock, his body had been too hot for his clothing, as he knew it would have been. The pretty red head needed him.
Moving away from the wall the figure shifted through the shadows and made his way to the bed where he sat beside the redhead’s violently shaking form. He reached out and caressed the cheek of the one he longed for. Leaning down he brushed his lips against that of the redhead’s and slowly began the process of drawing him awake.
“Pretty red head… awaken… awaken my love.”
Kurama’s eyes slowly drew open, they felt hot, feverish, much like his own body had when he had collapsed on the bed earlier this evening after doing all he could to release the hunger that threatened to burn him up in flames. The first thing he noticed was that his throat was parched, as if he had been without water in the middle of some desert for days. He felt so tired, and yet he could still feel the hunger throbbing wildly inside of him.
“Here my love… drink this…”
Kurama startled as the voice washed over him, the voice of his rapist, and yet as the glass touched his lips and the first droplets of water washed over them he couldn’t help but to drink like a dying man. He whimpered softly when the glass was emptied, and felt the rising panic that threatened to cut off his breathing.
“Shhh… calm yourself pretty red head… I didn’t hurt you the last time I was here… nor shall I now… I am merely here to help you.”
Kurama could feel the tears welling in his eyes and he forced his gaze away. Even the shadows seemed to beckon to this man who held him in his thrall against his will. He still couldn’t make out who he was, what he was, all he knew was that he had the power to take his strength from him, and the power to make him feel things he swore he would only feel with Hiei.
“ W-who…”
“Shhh… it doesn’t matter… you’re shaking so violently…” The male whispered against his lips before leaning down and kissing him softly allowing his tongue to trail that of the pretty one’s lips before leaning back up.
“W-why are y-you doing t-this?”
“Because I love you.”
“W-why me?”
“Do you really want to ask all these questions right now Pretty red head? Don’t you want the hunger to go away?”
Kurama’s eyes widened and he stared at the shadow before him. How had he known about the hunger coursing through him? What the hell did he do to him?
“What have you done to me?”
“Shhh… it’ll all be over soon… just let me love you.”
Kurama immediately began to fight his bonds again, but as those lips fell upon his neck he froze and whimpered, feeling some of the hunger inside of him abating just a little. He closed his eyes against the tears threatening to run down his cheeks, even as lips and tongue teased his neck, teeth nipped, and lowered. He gasped when he felt that same tongue run against his nipple, hardening it as breath soon fell across causing his length to harden almost immediately. He shouldn’t be feeling this… he should be fighting… he should be… oh god…
“Ahh…” The breathless cry fell from his lips as the man’s mouth closed over his length in a single delicious glide, even as his hips arched and his stomach rose to his throat. He felt ill, and yet the pleasure coursing through him was enough to keep the nausea down. He whimpered and though his hands fought his bonds, his body responded with hunger, his hips rising up again, only to be held down by hands as a tongue wrapped around his tip only to go back down again quickly, up and down, up and down, the mouth went, drawing tighter when it moved up then lessening when it moved down. That wicked tongue flickered back and forth across his tip, even as Kurama began to shake this time not from the hunger still thundering in his ears, but from the force of release that was so very close.
“NO!” Kurama screamed his denial even as his body quaked with release.
The figure drink deeply of all the pretty red head had to give, before slowly drawing up and looking at the one shaking beneath him, a pleased smirk on his face that couldn’t be seen thanks to shadows playing over his features, but that smirk soon turned into a deep scowl as he realized the pretty red head was weeping… in sorrow…
By Inari what have I become? Kurama couldn’t stop the sobs that tore from his throat in desperation and utter sadness. His body had betrayed his heart for a second time. He could never face anyone again after this, not only had he become forbidden in his own right, but he had betrayed everything he had learned to stand for, even his love for Hiei. That thought alone was enough to break him down again and he began to sob more forcefully than before, gasping for air, which was being cut off as he wept for his own broken heart.
The figure watched his pretty red head in shock. He hadn’t expected this at all, but he couldn’t understand why he was so broken all of a sudden. He reached out and caressed his cheek again, then attempted to sooth him the only way he knew how. He began caressing him all over again, his tongue slow, soothing, and in a way the very caress of a lover.
It didn’t help.
It only made Kurama sobs become enough that it sounded as if his entire body was going to break in half. Moving up the figure took the red head’s lips in a deep kiss, his tongue sweeping inside for a taste. He explored him until Kurama broke the kiss with a strangled sob.
“H-Hiei…”
The name fell from his lips with a whisper and if Kurama had been able to see his face he would have noticed his rapist’s eyes go hard with anger. Leaping up into a upright position he struck Kurama forcefully causing the kitsune’s face to whip to the opposite side he struck. The anger he felt right now was all consuming. He didn’t understand it. He had been loving, kind, passionate, and the damn red head still wasn’t satisfied!
“How dare you call that bastard’s name out when I am with you?! I have done nothing but love you and this is the thanks I get?!”
“Y-you d-do not understand w-what l-love is… love is given freely… h-hearts freely… you do not r-rape t-the one y-you love…” Kurama couldn’t stop his voice from shaking with his sobs. He felt so dirty, abused, unclean… oh god… unclean…
“Fine… that is the way you want it?! I will show you exactly what will happen to you without me… go to him… go to your fucking Hiei… see if he can stop the hunger threatening to consume you… and when you realize he can’t you’ll come crawling back to me… I will not come to you again pretty red head… until you call for me.”
With that the figure moved off the bed and in the span of a few seconds was gone, the bonds that had held Kurama were gone as well and the fox curled up and began to weep brokenly, the sounds sounded like he was dying, or had lost someone dear to him, and in a way he had. Hiei… He was tainted… he could never go to Hiei now. What had his rapist meant when he said see if Hiei could stop the hunger threatening to consume him? Oh god… what had this man done to him?
“Unclean… unclean….”
