Scene 19 ------------ Two Days Later


* Hiei is relaxing on the bank of the waterfall’s catchpool. Although he is in a half meditative state he feels the presence approaching him. The bond tells him who it is and he finds himself a little surprised.


Hiei- Eboni.


* When she doesn’t respond he half turns to look toward the young female. She glances around nervously, her black rounded Panther ears twitching.


Hiei- Are you alone?


* She looks back at Hiei. The Koorime sighs and draws a knee up to prop his unwarded arm on it.


Hiei- I think we are.. Unless your Mother is d--- good at masking herself.


* Now Eboni gives a mirthful hiss.


Eboni- If my Mother were here you would know it.. She never.. sneaks around.

Hiei- Ahh. So this is a trait that you learned on your own?


* Eboni lowers her eyes. Hiei calmly begins to read her with his jagan behind the ward briefly.


Eboni- Mother is asleep in the cave.. I’m here on my own.

Hiei- Why?


Now she raises a hand to rub one of her ears nervously. The jaganshi senses her need. Before she can even answer he stands and moves calmly to settle down behind her.


Hiei- It’s okay, Eboni.. I already know.


* He leans to nuzzle one of her ears and the young demoness cautiously leans more into his embrace. He begins to feed some of his energy into her.


Hiei- Why are you scared of me now? Is it because of the baby? It’ll be your first.

Eboni(Quietly)- They.


* She closes her eyes and swallows.


Hiei- Twins?

Eboni- Hai.


* Hiei scrunches his brow.


Hiei- I.. had suspected.. But I was hoping..

Eboni- It’s a.. Panther trait, I guess.. M-Mother says.. you’ll be pleased.

Hiei- I’ll be pleased that you come out healthy.. All three of you.


* She bows her head away so he can’t see her eyes.


Eboni(Quietly)- I hope they’re.. stillborn.


* Hiei stiffens at the familiar words that he, himself, uttered not too long ago.


Hiei- Now why the h--- would you..?

Eboni- Because it would be a better fate for them!


* Hiei seethes a moment until he feels the demoness trembling and puzzlement takes over since he’d closed his jagan.


Hiei- Eboni, I don’t understand.. I know that you’re young..

Eboni- Hai. I’ll give you many more of your own.


* He scowls as understanding begins to dawn on him.


Hiei- Little Girl, tell me plainly why you want your babies to die.


* Eboni sobs quietly. Hiei reaches up to embrace her tighter. He decides to open the jagan again to read her thoughts when she refuses to answer. After a few moments he gives a quiet growl.


Hiei- Why would she tell you that I’m going to eat them?!


* Eboni’s eyes widen as she looks over her shoulder at him.


Hiei- Hn. I can read your thoughts with my third eye.. Now, I want you to relax and tell me. Why do you and your Mother think this way?


* He feels her body go almost completely limp against him.


Eboni- Because.. they’re not.. yours.. We’re defiled mates.


* Hiei closes all three of his eyes. Eboni regains her senses. She squawks and attempts to squirm away, but Hiei keeps his hold on her. He raises a hand to cover her mouth.


Hiei- Shh. Calm down, Eboni.. It’s..


* The next thing he knows he is rolling and tumbling backwards, head over heels, until he plops into the pool. When he stands up soaked he finds Sylk comforting Eboni. As he moves back up out of the cold water he rubs his sore cheek. Although Sylk’s clawmarks are deep they’re already healing up so he gives them no further attention. The feral demoness sets her eyes hard on Hiei. He recognizes the look.


Hiei- If you were in your right mind, b----, I’d make your ears ring.


* Sylk’s tail lashes as she expects to be reprimanded by her Alpha. It throws her off balance when Hiei just starts to leave back toward the Main Cave.


Sylk- Punish me now!


* Hiei stops, hesitantly looks toward her, then shakes his head.


Hiei- Maybe someday when your mind clears you’ll get it through your thick skull. I’m not like other alphas.


* When Sylk suddenly yowls and collapses to a knee she throws her arm around her middle. When she cries out again Hiei notices the ground becoming damp around her knees.


Hiei- Ahh s---!


* He sends for Sarista and Trinka telepathically as he hurries to help Eboni lay Sylk down. The agonized demoness lashes out, but Hiei easily dodges her clawed hand. In a blink Sarista and Trinka appear. When they see Sylk writhing they understand immediately.


Hiei- Do everything you can to bring her and the babies through this!

Sarista- Alright. Back off now so she’ll calm down.


* Hiei releases Sylk and blinks back a couple feet.


Hiei- I was just..

Sarista- We’ll discuss it later, Babe.


* Sarista casts a winking glance toward Hiei. The Koorime sighs and moves away as the rest of the females arrive to help Sarista and Trinka. One female hangs back and Hiei lookstoward her. When he recognizes Garnetia he goes over to her.


Hiei- Garni?

Garnetia- I came to tell you about Tachi.

Hiei- Don’t tell me.. Her, too?

Garnetia- She’s already delivered one.. The Lynxs’ healer and mates are with her.


* Hiei turns running a hand through his uplifted hair. He nearly blanches when he watches Eboni pitch forward and cry out. Trinka quickly motions for help.


Hiei- Oh d---. Her, too?


* Hiei looks back at Garnetia.


Hiei- How is the Tiger doing?

Garnetia- As well as can be expected, but it’s going to be a long night.. We understand that Sylk is your first priority.

Hiei- I’ll be down to check on Tachi as soon as I can.


* Garnetia tilts her head up to study Hiei a moment.


Garnetia- You truly are the oddest guy I’ve ever met.


* Troiyoku comes over as Garnetia leaves.


Troiyoku- Sure is noisy.

Hiei- Both Sylk and Eboni are delivering.. And my Tigress Tachimaru is birthing down in the village, also.

Troiyoku- Wow. All three? I bet you’re going..


* Hiei looks up at Troi. The boy nods then carefully moves to embrace Hiei from behind.


Troiyoku- Relax, sir.. Everything will be what it’ll be.


* Hiei sighs deeply and allows himself to relax in Troiyoku’s arms.
