Scene 18 -------------------- The Next Morning
* Dagon is fixing breakfast when Hiei comes in grumbling. Dagon glances toward him smiling.
Dagon- Good morning, sir.
Hiei- It’s just another day.. Don’t be so d--- cheery.. Coffee.. Lots of sugar.
* Dagon hurries the requested items over to the table as Hiei sits.
Dagon- Cream, sir?
Hiei- No.
* Dagon watches him shovel the sugar into his black coffee.
Dagon- Are you like this every morning?
Hiei- Hn. Deal with it.
* Dagon winks with a chuckle.
Dagon- I’d love to.
* Hiei looks up at Dagon who hurries back to the stove. With his head clearer this morning, the Koorime catches on to what the Crow is doing.
Dagon- Did you hibernate well?
Hiei- Have you ever hibernated?
* Dagon shrugs as he returns to the table with two platefuls of scrambled eggs and rice noodles.
Dagon- I have a few times.. When I was younger.. Then I discovered a better way to relax.
* Dagon places one of the plates down in front of Hiei then sits down across from him with his own.
Dagon- Besides, it’s been a while since I’ve expended that much energy.
Hiei- Why does that not surprise me?
* Dagon grins at him.
Dagon- I’m a lover, not a warrior.
* Hiei tilts his head.
Hiei- Are you like this every morning?
Dagon- Morning, noon, and night.
* Hiei shakes his head and starts to push his food around on his plate. Dagon eats a few moments as he watches him. He allows himself to carefully read the Koorime’s distracted thoughts.
Dagon- You could just.. release them.
* Hiei looks up at Dagon blankly, then scowls and shakes his head.
Hiei- No. I couldn’t.. They’re pregnant. Besides that, they’re carrying Yusuke and Kurama’s babies.. It’s a possibility that I could get ahold of Koenma and have him take the three carrying Yusuke’s brats to him.. But the ones that are pregnant to Kurama must be kept hidden..
Dagon- Because the Youko would kill them?
Hiei- No. That Fox isn’t the same cold, heartless b------ he used to be.. But he has a small pack of his own now.. Three mates..
Dagon- Ahh.. And if they found out that he’s sired babies outside of their pack..
Hiei- I’m not as familiar with them.. I really have no idea how they’d react to finding out Kurama was.. unfaithful to them.. The least it would do would put an unnecessary strain on things.. I have no way of knowing how the Youko is even recovering from being held captive in this place.
Dagon- Then leave them all here. Nobody will ever know they’re in that room except for Shironji and us.
* Hiei considers the Crow’s words. For some reason, though, they don’t sit well with him. Slowly he realizes the reason why. His instincts have already accepted the fact that he’s claimed these females in battle. Almost the same way as when he defeated Gamock. He can't leave them caged up. The jaganshi finally growls a curse and stands.
Hiei- I need to go talk to her.
Dagon- Yes. That’s exactly what you..
Hiei- Shut up, bird.
* Dagon hops up and leads Hiei out of the house.
