Hiei's Harem - Pt. 1 - Establishment

Okay. Here is the hopefully long-awaited (LOL) new installment of my story. So sorry for the delay, but circumstances were out of my control. I'll continue to update my stories as often as I can on this old standby computer I have to use now. Please excuse any small errors that might occur in spelling or whatever for now.

Scene 18 ---------------------------------- The Next Morning


* When the morning meal is nearly over Troiyoku, Silis, and Gamarau stand. Hiei looks up at them.


Troiyoku- We're rested and ready to continue our training, Master.


* Hiei barely notices the word as he shifts his gaze to D'Garo. The youngest of the lower males lowers his eyes, but remains seated.


Hiei- You three go on to the training area. Practice what you learned yesterday until we get there.


* D'Garo looks at Hiei wide-eyed.


D'Garo- I'm not..

Gamaru- 'Garo,..!


* Hiei opens his jagan long enough to send a message to Gamaru.


(#) Hiei- If you intend for me to allow you to continue what you do with him when nobody is watching..


* He knows he has Gamaru's attention by the scowl he throws him.


(#) Hiei- You will stop defying me and do as I told you!


* The force of Hiei's words makes Gamaru stumble backwards a couple feet. The boy narrows his eyes at Hiei but decides to cave to his authority. Sarista glances silently between her son and Hiei. When Gamaru leaves with his brother and Silis Hiei shakes his head and recloses his jagan. He looks at Sarista.


Hiei- D---, that boy is as stubborn as you are.


* Sarista, seated at the table beside him, smirks with a shrug.


Sarista- He is my son.

Hiei- Hn.


* Hiei hands her his empty bowl then stands and goes over to face D'Garo who was eating under a nearby tree. Without any warning the Koorime gives him a firm cuff upside his head hard enough to knock him back against the tree. Hiei feels the clash of Sarista and D'Tara's energies behind him but keeps his eyes on the startled boy. Hiei lifts his hand again but holds the blow when D'Garo cowers and throws his arms up to cover his head.


D'Tara- No..!


* Hiei's sharp ears detect the whisking sound behind him. He turns just as the Kitsune demoness uses a vine to yank D'Tara backward onto her rear. The Hyena hybrid struggles against her restraints until Hiei blinks over in front of her. In quick succession Hiei removes his katana from it's enchanted sheath, Lily retracts her vine so D'Tara can defend herself if she'll need to, and Sarista holds her hands up to keep the rest of the females at bay. Before Hiei can do much else, though, D'Garo reacts by leaping over to place himself between his mother and Hiei. Hiei stands his ground and allows the boy to land a fist against his jaw. The strike is hard enough to send the apparition skidding backward a few feet. Hiei stays put and quietly contemplates the energy he now feels radiating off of D'Garo a moment. Then he raises a hand to wiggle his jaw a little.


Hiei- Hn.. Not bad.. You're a decent B Class at least.


* Hiei flares out only a portion of his own energy as he calmly moves back up to face D'Garo. The boy begins to tremble, but stays planted between Hiei and his mother. D'Tara regains her composure and reaches up to grab D'Garo's arm.


D'Tara- 'Garo, don't..

D'Garo- I won't let him hurt you!

Hiei- Boy, I could kill you without lifting my blade.

D'Tara- Run, 'Garo!

Hiei- No! Stay and listen to me! If none of you trust me my presence here is worthless!


* D'Garo hesitantly lowers his energy. Hiei looks back up at him after throwing an intense gaze toward the other females.


Hiei- You don't want to fight, but yet you were willing to risk your life to protect your mother.

D'Garo- I-I had no choice.. but to just stand aside and watch my Father abuse her.. I'll be d---ed if I allow you to..

Hiei- I wouldn't have harmed her.. I did it only to test your reaction.


* D'Garo's knees wobble, then give out and he collapses to sit beside his mother.


Hiei- Your name..?

D'Garo- D'Garo, sir.

Hiei- D'Garo, you wish to be strong enough to protect your mother.

D'Garo- I..

Hiei- Just answer yes or no.


* D'Garo looks back up at Hiei.


D'Garo- Yes.

Hiei- That is what I will train you to do..

D'Garo- B-but I.. I can't kill..

Hiei- Protecting doesn't always require killing. Would you have killed me if I had come at your mother again?


* D'Garo lowers his eyes.


D'Garo- I.. I would have become the beast Father always said I was.


* Hiei looks at D'Tara.


Hiei- Explain, Woman.

D'Tara- Gamock was always warning my son that if he'd ever lose his temper he would turn into a beast like his older brother did.. Garrick was five years older than 'Garo. He took Gamock's abusive ways until he could no longer stand them..

Hiei- Hn. Everyone has a breaking point.

D'Tara- Garrick came into the cave that day and found Gamock punching me.. 'Garo was crying in a corner.. Gamock was punching me because I interfered with him.. doing something to 'Garo..S-something I f-felt he was.. too young for..

Hiei- The others told me yesterday about why these four were kept here.


* D'Garo's eyes widen and then he blushes quite visibly.


Hiei- Was it the boy's first heat?

D'Tara- No.. It was approaching, b-but Gamock was.. drunk..

Hiei- Was this Garrick a bearer, also?

D'Tara- It's a Hyena trait.

Hiei- Hn. Continue.

D'Tara- Garrick lost his temper.. He went into a rage and.. attacked Gamock.

D'Garo- Father h-had to.. kill him.. to stop him..


*D'Garo closes his eyes and swallows. Hiei opens his jagan again so he can scan the boy's memories of the horrifying images racing through his mind. When he's seen enough Hiei growls and knows what he must do. he pushes the ward up off of his jagan to reveal it.


Hiei- Mother, close your eyes.


* D'Tara starts to shield her son.


Hiei- Trust me.. I'm going to help him.


* D'Tara glances up at Sarista. When the Alpha Female nods D'Tara moves back and closes her eyes. D'Garo glances around nervously as if searching for an escape route.


Hiei- D'Garo, relax and look up at me.


* When he timidly obeys the sight of Hiei's glowing third eye jolts him backward.


D'Garo- No! Please don't..!

Hiei- I said relax. I'm going to do this. It will be less painful for you if you listen to me, boy.. Now, look up at me and focus on my jagan.

D'Tara- Obey your Alpha, 'Garo.

Sarista- let him help you.

Staci- He used it on me and it didn't hurt a bit.. He just goes in and looks through your memories.


* With their encouragement D'Garo finally takes a deep breath and obeys. When he looks up at the jagan and concentrates he feels as if he's being drawn into it and stiffens.


(#)Hiei- Relax, D'Garo.. Completely relax..


* once he knows that D'Garo is completely in his control Hiei closes his true eyes and begins. In a matter of moments he manages to help the boy lock away all the memories of that terrible day in such a manner that 'Garo will remember them, but they'll no longer be as painful and hindering. When Hiei is satisfied he opens his eyes.


(#)Hiei- Now we will move on. You will train and grow stronger so you'll be able to protect your mother and the rest of them.. but you will always trust me and give me the respect my position deserves.


* Hiei carefully withdraws his jagan, closes it, and pulls the ward back down over it. D'Garo blinks then promptly collapses forward on his hands.


Hiei- Now, you wish to be strong enough to protect your mother and the others?


* D'Garo shakes his head to clear it then raises up onto his knees to look at Hiei firmly.


D'Garo- Yes, sir.


* D'Tara, surprised at his firm, unwavering answer, opens her eyes to look at her son.


Hiei- Then go join your brothers.. Iwill follow shortly.


* D'Garo nods, stands to leave, then hesitates to look back down at Hiei.


D'Garo- Thank you. I understand what you've done.. Perhaps now the nightmares will stop.


* Hiei nods.


Hiei- If they don't come see me again.


* D'Garo nods and leaps away. Hiei watches him until he disappears into the woods on the next bound. He then looks back at the females. D'Tara has tears brimming her deep black eyes.


D'Tara- I-I've never.. heard him speak with such.. confidence..


* Hiei's eyes widen when D'Tara suddenly embraces him sobbing her gratitude. After a moment Hiei closes his eyes and decides to do this one's marking so quickly that she barely recognizes it was done until Hiei begins to work loose from her.


Hiei- Release me, woman!


* As soon as she does Hiei blinks away. D'Tara raises a hand to her neck stunned, then blushes when her 'sisters' all laugh at her reaction.
