Scene 16
Scene 16 --------------- Spirit World
* When Botan sniffles Koenma shuts off the monitor. He’d meant to only check in on Hiei to see when he planned on returning to Alaric. Botan wipes her cheek and turns to look at him.
Botan- Will that poor guy ever find any happiness, sir?
Koenma- That ‘poor guy’ is about to become one of the three Lords of Demon World.
Botan- Is that such a bad thing? I mean, he’s not anything like he used to be..
Koenma- Are you kidding me?! Didn’t you just hear him, Botan? He wants that innocent child to be stillborn.
Botan- I heard his words.. But I could almost.. feel.. the reason why he said that.. Are you telling me that you didn’t?
* The Toddler sighs and leans back in his large chair.
Koenma- Yes, Botan.. I felt it.
* She crosses her arms.
Botan- You’re being so harsh because he’s refused your help.
* Koenma looks up at her again scowling at her boldness.
Koenma- I thought we were friends.. He won’t let me help him.. He practically allowed one of his females to make a meal out of me!
Botan- Oh, sir. Grow up.
* Koenma nearly swallows his pacifier.
Botan- you know, as well as I do, that for all his bravado and abilities Hiei is actually a very insecure fellow..
Koenma- You wouldn’t say that to his face.
Botan- This is his chance to actually prove himself among his own kind once and for all.. Mukuro wasn’t stupid to put her trust in him.
* Koenma relaxes and considers her words.
Botan- He wants this accomplishment for himself.
Koenma- Perhaps.. The real question is.. How he’ll handle this new level of power when he gets in the vicinity of the other two? Somehow he’s learned what’ll trigger the complete activation of her orb..
Botan- You’re scared.
* Koenma looks back up at the blue-haired ferry girl.
Botan- You’re terrified that he’ll come here and..
Koenma- Isn’t it past your bedtime?!
* Botan scowls.
Botan- You know I don’t need to sleep.
Koenma- Then go do your job! I have more important things to do!
* Koenma takes up his stamper and starts shuffling through the last few remaining papers on his desk. Botan shakes her head then leaves. As soon as she’s gone Koenma glances up at the wall of clocks that depict all the different timezones in the three worlds. He then floats over to George’s station, programs a portal to open, and shifts into his Teen form as he moves through it.
