Chapter 14
Last chapter was short… this one’s not any longer.
Chapter Fourteen
“You called for a car?” Yusuke asked. He crossed his hands over his chest and stared at his friend, tapping his foot impatiently.
“Of course,” said Kurama. “I can’t drive.” He pulled on a jacket and handed another one to Yusuke.
“This isn’t mine,” Yusuke said, eyeing the soft brown suede jacket Kurama had handed him.
“Don’t be silly. I bought this for you when we went shopping.”
Yusuke rolled his eyes. “I don’t see why you made me put on this fancy outfit.”
“I hardly call jeans and a sweater ‘fancy’, Yusuke.”
Yusuke shook his head. “Designer jeans. I hope no one sees me.”
“Would that be so terrible?”
Yusuke sighed and hung his head. He’d managed to put off Kurama’s “apology date” for a day. He was glad for it because after his day at school, he needed something to take his mind off of how royally fucked up his life was.
Keiko was still avoiding him and Kuwabara kept asking if he was okay. To make matters worse, the teachers kept accusing him of cheating because his grades had gone up and some of the lower-level thugs were trying to pick fights with him. It took all he had not to blast the punks into oblivion and he’d been dragged out of the classroom by Hiei during lunch to listen to a lecture on self control.
Yusuke hadn’t even noticed that his demonic aura had been spiking all day but he managed to get a better hold on it from then on.
“Yusuke?” said Kurama.
Yusuke looked up. “Yeah?”
“The car is here.”
Yusuke followed Kurama outside, thanking the heavens that he hadn’t called for a limo this time. “Where are we going?” Yusuke asked as he slid into the back seat behind Kurama.
“It’s a surprise.”
Yusuke nodded and stared at his feet. He hadn’t had a whole lot of time to think about the previous day but something was still nagging at him about it. He had a feeling he should wait until they got to where ever they were going before saying anything to Kurama.
When the car stopped, Yusuke looked around confusedly. For one thing, he didn’t recognize the neighborhood they were in, for another, it looked like they were in an upper-class shopping district. “Kurama...?” said Yusuke.
Kurama thanked the driver and got out of the car. Yusuke reluctantly followed. “What are we doing here?” Yusuke asked.
“I told you, it’s a surprise,” Kurama replied.
Yusuke groaned, suddenly getting the impression that he was not going to like this surprise. When they walked into a cell phone store, Yusuke actually grabbed Kurama by the arm. “Wait…”
Kurama looked back at Yusuke and smiled.
“I never said you could spend a lot of money on me.”
Kurama just shook his head.
“You’re not going to spend a lot of money on me, are you?”
Kurama chuckled. “I thought Hiei advised you to allow my little indulgences.”
Yusuke sighed and followed Kurama over to the phones. “Which one would you like?” Kurama asked.
“You’re not serious are you?”
Kurama nodded.
“Listen, man… I don’t need a cell phone.”
Kurama waved to a salesman. “Pardon me,” he said. “Can you tell me which of these phones is the most expensive?”
“That’s not funny, Shuuichi,” Yusuke growled.
Kurama raised his eyebrows at Yusuke’s use of his human name. “Pick one, then.”
“I don’t need a cell phone.”
Kurama sighed. “Let me explain something to you. I enjoy spending money on those I care about. It makes me happy to buy people things. I want to spoil you. Would you allow me my silly indulgences, purely for the purpose of making me happy?”
“I’ll take that one,” Yusuke said, pointing to a moderately expensive phone.
“Thank you,” said Kurama. He made the necessary arrangements with the salesman and Yusuke left the store, resolving to complain less when Kurama wanted to buy him things.
“Can we go get some tea or coffee or something before you call the driver?” Yusuke asked.
“Yes, of course,” said Kurama. He led Yusuke toward a small coffee shop across the street. The bell above the door rang merrily as they walked in and Yusuke was impressed by the warm atmosphere of the place. He took a seat while Kurama walked up to the cashier to order their teas. Yusuke drummed his fingertips on the tabletop and watched the various shoppers walk by. It was amusing to see all the rich people bustling about. It made him laugh inwardly over how ridiculous the whole shopping thing was.
He smiled as Kurama came to the table with their tea. “Thanks,” he said. “For the phone and the tea…”
“Don’t mention it.” Kurama sat across from Yusuke and took a sip of his tea.
Yusuke looked down at the mug and realized that Kurama had already added the milk and sugar. He smirked when he realized that Kurama and Shiori both memorized how he took his tea.
“Was there something you wanted to discuss with me?” Kurama asked.
Yusuke nodded. “Uh… Hiei said… he told me he loved me.”
“Of course he did,” said Kurama. He smiled and took another sip of tea.
“What do you mean ‘of course?’ Did you know he loved me?”
Kurama paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts. “I’m not surprised that he does. Koorime are the type of demon that fall in love. As for his patriarchal demonic line, I can only guess that his father’s type of demon does too.”
“Wait a minute! You told me you didn’t know if Koorime fell in love.”
“So I did… At the time, I couldn’t remember.”
Yusuke frowned. “Why not?”
Kurama shrugged. “It’s nothing to worry about.”
Kurama and Yusuke finished their tea in silence and took the car in equal silence back home. Shiori greeted them at the door as she was on her way out. She was going on a date with Kazuya and said not to wait up for her.
Yusuke was almost relieved that she wouldn’t be there. As much as he adored Shiori, he had some things he needed to sort out with Hiei and he’d prefer if she wasn’t there when it happened. As he expected, Yusuke found Hiei in Kurama’s bedroom, lounging on the bed. He gave Yusuke an impassive look and tilted his head to Kurama in greeting.
“Hey, Kurama?” said Yusuke. “I know this is your room and all but can I talk to Hiei alone for a bit?”
Hiei quirked his eyebrow at that but Kurama nodded. “I was thinking of going for a walk anyway. I’ll bring take-out home for dinner.”
Yusuke waited until Kurama had left the house before sinking onto the bed beside Hiei. Hiei stared at Yusuke, not wanting to prod him for an explanation. There was something wrong with the Toushin’s posture and Hiei had a feeling something heavy was weighing on his lover’s mind.
“Hiei, I…” Yusuke started. “I wanted to ask you something.”
Hiei waited.
Like talking to a brick wall. “What did you mean yesterday when you said you loved me?”
Hiei stared at Yusuke for a moment. “I didn’t say I loved you.”
“Yes you did.”
“No, I didn’t.”
Yusuke stared at Hiei, stunned. “What are you talking about?”
“I said ‘I love you.’ There’s a difference.”
“How?”
Hiei leaned close to Yusuke and scrutinized his expression. “Surely you’re not dense enough to be unable to tell the difference between past and present tense.”
“Are you making a joke?”
Hiei laughed and sat back. “Maybe. And it means exactly what it sounds like.”
“So… You’re in love with me then?”
Hiei reached up and brushed a lock of hair away from Yusuke’s face. “What do you think? You’re the detective.”
Yusuke’s mouth suddenly went dry. I think it’s pretty obvious. He brushed his nose against Hiei’s but kept his mouth a breath away. When Hiei moved forward to kiss Yusuke, Yusuke moved slightly backward. Yusuke kept his lips away just far enough so Hiei wouldn’t be kissing him until he had to fall on his back. Hiei leaned over Yusuke and kissed him, smiling when he realized that Yusuke’s plan had been to get Hiei on top of him. “You’re pretty clever,” he whispered, placing delicate kisses on Yusuke’s lips, down his jaw and on his neck. He darted his tongue from between his lips and tasted Yusuke’s neck. Yusuke hissed and bucked against Hiei, feeling a bolt of pleasure thrumming against his veins.
Yusuke sat up and took control of the kiss. He parted his lips and ran his tongue over Hiei’s mouth, delighted when Hiei allowed him entrance. He probed clumsily for a moment before he found a rhythm that worked.
Yusuke worked his hands underneath Hiei’s shirt and smoothed his rough palms over Hiei’s toned chest and stomach. Hiei let out a slight whimper when Yusuke brushed his fingers against the space just above Hiei’s left hip. Yusuke ran his fingers over the spot, a little more intently this time and was pleased when Hiei let out a little yelp. Right there, huh? He pulled Hiei’s shirt off the petite demon and guided Hiei onto his back.
“You’re a quick study,” Hiei complimented as Yusuke kissed a trail down his chest. Yusuke veered right when he reached Hiei’s stomach and bit down on the spot he’d found before. “Fuck!” Hiei shouted. The sound of Hiei swearing almost made Yusuke giggle. He bit down harder, eliciting an even louder oath and delighted in the sensation of Hiei writhing in pleasure.
Hiei clutched Yusuke’s hair, tugging gently to pull him back to his lips. “Take me,” Hiei groaned. He kissed Yusuke. “Show me how fast you learn.”
Yusuke shuddered at the desperate tone of Hiei’s request. He froze for a moment, feeling suddenly anxious. Hiei touched Yusuke’s cheek. “You’ll do fine,” he muttered.
It felt as if a thousand butterflies had exploded in Yusuke’s stomach. He was still shaking when he went down on Hiei but the sound of Hiei groaning and panting with pleasure encouraged him. Knowing how much Hiei was enjoying this helped him gain confidence. I wonder what he’d do if I… Yusuke ran his tongue down Hiei’s shaft, inhaling the scent that clung to his lover’s balls as he travelled further and ran his tongue over Hiei’s ass.
“Gods!” Hiei shouted.
Yusuke took that as a good sign and continued licking around Hiei’s entrance in slow, teasing circles. Once Yusuke decided that Hiei’s ass was lubricated enough, he inserted a finger slowly, marveling at how tight Hiei was. He added another finger. “I’m not made of glass!” Hiei snapped.
Yusuke knelt up shakily to his knees and unbuttoned his pants. His hands had begun to quiver as he slid off his jeans. Hiei was growling impatiently when Yusuke finally pushed the tip of his erection into Hiei’s entrance. He froze, almost overcome by how tight and hot Hiei’s body felt. He dropped his chin to his chest and took a long, shaky breath before pushing in again. He steeled himself, biting down hard on his lower-lip as a distraction and pushed completely into Hiei’s body.
To his surprise, his eyes filled with tears and he was nearly knocked over by an overwhelming emotion pressing against his chest. The most wonderful sensations spread throughout Yusuke’s entire body and tears fell onto Hiei’s chest as Yusuke began thrusting.
Hiei didn’t notice the tears. All he could feel was Yusuke moving against him, stroking his need and thrusting right there most of the time. Hiei didn’t bother trying to hold back. He knew that Yusuke still needed more practice. He was stunned, therefore, when Yusuke lasted a full ten minutes before his thrusts became frantic.
“Yusuke!” Hiei moaned. He arched his back and came, his essence spilling over Yusuke’s hand.
Yusuke shuddered, collapsing on top of Hiei, tears flowing freely now. “You’re… crying?” said Hiei.
Yusuke shook his head and pressed his face to Hiei’s neck. “N-no, I’m n-not.”
Hiei was concerned now. For Yusuke to cry after sex was utterly frightening. “Don’t lie. Why are you crying?”
Yusuke shrugged. “I just f-felt too much at once. I think I’m in love with you, Hiei.”
Hiei smiled and stroked Yusuke’s hair. “Yes. I think so too.”

“He’s asleep,” Hiei told Kurama. He’d met Kurama in the living room and helped bring in the boxes of take-out.
Kurama hummed thoughtfully. “Is he alright?”
Hiei hesitated. “I think so.”
“You think so?”
Hiei sat on the couch and opened his box of food. “I know that Toushin are emotional, but he cried, Kurama.”
Kurama sat beside Hiei and picked at his vegetable stir-fry. “Why?”
Hiei shrugged. “He said he felt too much at once and that he thinks he’s in love with me.”
Kurama nodded and stared down at his food. “Yes, I thought so.”
“He’s clearly in love with you, too, Kurama.”

Hiei pressed his palm to Kurama’s forehead.
“I’m not ill,” Kurama said. He leaned against Hiei. “I’ve just been feeling out of sorts.” Hiei rested his head on Kurama’s shoulder.
“You know I love you as well,” said Hiei. It wasn’t a question.
Kurama sighed. “I wonder what I could have done to be deserving of so much love.”
Hiei stared at Kurama questioningly. “Your voice… it’s different.”
Kurama chuckled. “I’m not sure I agree.” The half smirk and the gold glint to his eyes alerted Hiei that Kurama was losing himself to Youko’s influence. “You, my darling, are quite the eye candy.”
Hiei growled. “I never thought you’d be reduced to using Ningen terms.”
Kurama leaned in and brushed his lips against Hiei’s. This is Youko, Hiei decided. Nonetheless, he accepted the kiss and returned it with enthusiasm. Kurama ran his hands over Hiei’s chest through his shirt and Hiei nibbled on Kurama’s lips. “The boy hardly ever lets me play,” said Kurama. His hair flashed silver for a moment. “How I would dearly love to claim both you and Yusuke-kun.”
Kurama ran his fingers lazily over Hiei’s neck and pierced him with a lust filled gaze.
The sound of footfalls coming down the stairs did not jar either demon from their embrace. In fact, Kurama gave Yusuke a taunting smile before reclaiming Hiei’s lips in a bruising kiss. Yusuke let out a low possessive growl before climbing behind Hiei on the couch and biting down hard on Hiei’s neck. Hiei yelped, surprised by the sudden assault from both sides but nevertheless enjoying it. Yusuke gripped Hiei’s hair and tugged his head sideways to give himself a better angle to bite.
“I would recognize that smirk anywhere, Youko Kurama,” Yusuke snarled. He grabbed Hiei’s hips and pulled him into his lap, taking care to grid his erection over that tantalizing ass.
Kurama leaned in. “I wasn’t aware you were so intimately acquainted with my expressions,” he said, ghosting a kiss over Hiei’s jaw. For his part, Hiei didn’t involve himself in the conversation, he merely grabbed onto Kurama’s back and pulled him into a deeper kiss.
“You’ve met my ancestor, Raizen.”
Yusuke seemed to be in a daze but those words snapped him out of it. He was shocked to see Hiei in his lap, panting, skin flushed and sporting an impressive new bruise. “What did I j-just?” said Yusuke.
“Raizen?” said Kurama. He suddenly seemed to regain control over himself. “Who-...” The memory came back to him sluggishly and he quickly covered his mouth to hide a gasp of surprise. “Of course…” he muttered. “I’d heard about his hunger strike; his reason for it.”
“The King of Tourin is your ancestor?” said Hiei. “How could you possibly know that?”
“I… don’t know…” said Yusuke.
This is late. I have no good excuse for it. Hopefully, you won’t begrudge me a review?
