Scene 12 --------- Demon World
* Hiei’s pack watched him summon and send the Ninjini through the portal just before it closed. Then the Koorime had moved into the natural alcove. He’s been there for the past couple hours, but none of them has disturbed him. When Hiei finally emerges he stands still a moment looking them all over.
Hiei- I suppose you all hate me for doing..
Sarista- No.
* The answer surprises Hiei.
Lily- Stop shielding yourself and you’ll understand how we feel.
* Hiei looks toward the black Kitsune. When he obeys and drops his mental barrier their feelings of empathy and concern flood into him through the bond nearly staggering him.
Hiei- I..
* Sarista sighs then takes the bold initiative to move up to him. Hiei regains his stoic demeanor as she pulls him into her embrace.
Sarista- We all felt how hard it was for you to do that.
Hiei- Hn.. When I return to Alaric.. I'll take my position formally.
Sarista- I’ll go with you.
Hiei- No. You’ll stay here until I return.
Sarista- Hiei,..
Sylk- It’s not your place to be at his side.
* Everyone, but Hiei, looks toward Sylk and Eboni when they step away from the trees.
Hiei- You’re not going, either.
* Sylk crosses her arms.
Hiei- you’re too close to delivering, Sylk. When I make my position known it won’t take long for the other two Lords to hone in on me.. I have no way of knowing what their reactions will be.
Sylk- It’s my duty to be at your side no matter what the sacrifice..
* Hiei turns to glare up at Sylk. He realizes that her feral instincts are in full control, but he still holds his resolve.
Hiei- Shut up!
* Sylk hisses and her tail lashes angrily behind her but she obeys. Hiei goes over to face her.
Hiei- I understand your.. reason, but I can’t allow it.. You may not value what you’re carrying.. But I do.
* He lifts a hand to touch her swollen middle.
Hiei- I know its Sire would also.
Sylk- Its.. Their Sire has no idea they even exist! I don’t understand you! You’re a demon Alpha.. How can you..?!
Hiei- Because I’m not subject to the same nature you are, Sylk. I’m an Elemental.. Besides that, I’ve achieved a level where I’m able to control my instincts.. mostly.. You’ve felt a small portion of my power earlier, you know my potential.
Sylk- Well forgive me for being such a mindless pion.
* Hiei can’t help but smirk at her fiery nature.
Hiei- How in the h--- did I end up sandwiched between two such h---cats as you and her..
* He tilts his head toward Sarista.
Hiei- Is beyond me.
Sarista- You defeated Gamock.
Sylk- And Matsua.
* Hiei sighs and rubs his forehead a moment, then looks back up at Sylk.
Hiei- It’s also your duty to obey me. Is it not?
Sylk- Unfortunately.. For now.
* Hiei hesitates at the implications of her last two words. Sarista feels the twinge of sadness stab through Hiei a moment before he cuts himself off once more.
Hiei- Then you’ll stay here where you’ll all be safe.. That is my foremost priority above all else.
* Sarista raises her eyes to meet Sylk’s when Hiei blurs away.
Sarista- Mistress, you are the most.. stubborn.. selfish..
Sylk- Mind your tongue!
Sarista- You can beat me senseless if you want, but you need to get it through your thick head that Hiei isn’t like all the other..
Sylk- No. He’s certainly not.
* She moves up closer to Sarista. The Fire demoness lowers her eyes away from meeting her superior’s.
Sylk- He is not Tsetsuya!
* Sylk then continues on past Sarista to move toward the cave.
Sarista- If you leave Hiei.. you’ll be alone again, Sylk.
* Sylk pauses at the mouth of the cave, then disappears into it. Sarista looks at Eboni. The younger demoness sighs, then goes along to join her mother.
