Part Eleven
Good evening.
In this chapter, more information about the truth of Kuwabara's strenght will be revealed. This is a vital chapter as well as the next. These two chapters will be the defining point of this story; bring it all into focus and hence deeping the story. Don't think this story is close to being finished; that is far from the truth. I am only getting started.

The three demons walked the city streets with Yusuke in the lead. They have been walking for a half an hour and still they haven’t found any sign of their human comrade.
“Yusuke, are you sure you know where you’re going?” Kurama asks, getting frustrated at how stubborn Yusuke was being.
He had insisted that he knew where Shizuru was talking about and had seemed to go off in a random direction. Kurama was just as worried as Yusuke but he felt it wasn’t the time to be rash and unreasonable.
Yusuke growled.
“Shut up. I know it looks like I don’t know, but I’m telling you I have a feeling Kuwabara’s close… I can’t explain it but…just trust me when I tell you that he’s close…” Yusuke says, not even bothering to turn and face the kitsune.
Kurama sighed.
“I think the detective is affected more by this then he should.”
Kurama takes a glance at Hiei who seems to be deep in thought as he watches Yusuke walk a few feet ahead of them.
“Yes. I think he’s reacting a bit more protective then a best friend would.” Kurama says, throwing in his two cents.
“Hn.”
Suddenly Yusuke stops and looks down a long dark alley that is to his right.
“He’s this way! I know he is!” Yusuke says while running into the darkness.
Hiei and Kurama run after him, not wanting their leader to get into any trouble, especially under the stress he was at that moment.
As they run they notice that the alley seems to be familiar.
Kurama’s eyes widen.
“This is the same place we found Kuwabara two weeks ago!” Kurama says.
“Yeah…” Yusuke says, realizing it himself.
As they drew close to the end of the alleyway, Yusuke’s communicator goes off.
Yusuke growls as he stops running, wanting to put his full attention on the toddler, hoping he had discovered anything about those demons that had Kuwabara under their control.
“What did you find?” Yusuke asks as soon as he answers it.
A distressed Koenma appeared across the mini screen.
Yusuke’s face grew grim and worried.
“What?”
“Yusuke I’m sorry…this is all my fault, I should have never let him out of Limbo, if I just talked to Kuwabara or maybe if I made him see a councilor or …” Koenma started.
“Hold up. What are you talking about?” Yusuke asks.
Kurama and Hiei look over Yusuke’s shoulder, wondering what Koenma had to say.
Koenma sighed.
“Yusuke, please listen to everything I have to say before you say anything.”
“Fine.” Yusuke says, not liking what he was hearing already.
“It’s my fault Kuwabara was taken by those demons.” Koenma says, stopping for a minute to compose him self.
“What do you mean your fault?” growls Yusuke.
Kurama puts his hand on Yusuke’s shoulder.
“Let’s listen to what he has to say first, alright Yusuke?”
Yusuke looks at Kurama and gave a sigh as he nodded.
Koenma sighs and gave a nod towards Kurama in thanks before continuing.
“You see, Kuwabara hadn’t been doing well and I feared that we would have another Chapter Black scenario on our hands. In order to prevent that, I thought a test would be in order to help Kuwabara get past these horrible events in his life and help him find his center…I was wrong…”
“I made a deal with a demon who was an expert in mind control and other sort of spells and talents. The deal was he would get out from limbo ten thousand years early if he would help conduct this test on Kuwabara. The problem was I didn’t realize he would discover how powerful Kuwabara is…”
“Wait, who was this demon and what do you mean you didn’t think he’d find out how powerful Kuwabara was? How powerful is Kuwabara?” Yusuke asks.
“With the Jigen Tou, Kuwabara has the power to not only open a hole between the makai and ningenaki, but could rip a hole in the fabric of even time and space itself…in other words, he is a walking time machine as well as a transportation device to anywhere in all three known worlds as well as unknown dimensions.”
All three demons gasp; never had they imagined nor realized how powerful Kuwabara’s weapon was and how desirable it was too.
“Damn…” Yusuke said in shocked.
Koenma nodded, agreeing with the correct use of word for this entire situation.
“That is why no one knew about that power except for those who worked on the Chapter Black case. If that knowledge got out, then Kuwabara’s life would be in constant danger, as well as Shizuru. It was another reason why I needed to conduct this test…”
“If he is as powerful as you say, why didn’t you use your power to give him some kind of protection while we were gone?” Hiei asks.
Hiei knew if Kuwabara had that power back before he had met Yusuke, he would have captured the human and exploited his power to its fullest. However, he had changed since then and hadn’t any use for that power. There was no doubt in his mind that other demons would do the same as he would have; however they would be even crueler then he would have been towards Kuwabara.
“No one knew, except for you three and you really didn’t know how powerful he really was.” Koenma says.
“To answer your other question, Yusuke…the demon I asked was a demon you know. He was your first real mission after retrieving those three artifacts…Rando…”
Hiei and Kurama both looked stunned. They had heard of Rando and how he was brought down by a rookie from the Underworld. They never knew that rookie was that of one Yusuke Urameshi.
“Rando…? Name sounds familiar…” Yusuke says, scratching the back of his head.
Both Kurama and Hiei sweat dropped at this.
“Well it should! You fought him in Genkai’s Tournament!” Koenma shouted, getting a bit frustrated at how air head Yusuke could be even in the most serious situations.
Realization clicked in Yusuke’s brain.
“Wait a minute…I remember him! He’s the guy that fought Kuwabara and broke every single bone in his body!! YOU LET THAT BASTARD NEAR KUWABARA?!” Yusuke shouted, now pissed at how stupid Koenma was.
Kurama and Hiei both looked dumbfounded at the demi-god.
“Is that true Koenma?” Kurama asks.
“Yes; however I didn’t think it would have been a problem since Rando thought he was killed, especially how badly he had attacked him…Kuwabara shouldn’t have really been able to survived being crushed as he was…I figured Rando would not realize it was the same Kuwabara he had fought in Genkai’s tournament…”
“How did you figure that?! Didn’t you think he would have remembered him once he saw him?!” Yusuke shouted.
Koenma looked at Yusuke, ashamed.
“No, but I realized a little too late…I just called him to call it off and he won’t. He broke our arrangement and told me if I try to send him back to limbo he will have his gang give Kuwabara a traumatic death…”
Yusuke’s eyes flashed red at that.
“Over my dead body they will!” growls Yusuke.
“Listen to me Yusuke, there’s more to this then you realize. You know what a mate is, right?” Koenma asks.
Yusuke narrows his eyes at Koenma.
“Yeah, it’s like a wife or a partner.”
“Sort of.” Kurama says.
“It’s actually a bond to another demon. Once bounded there is no way to break it unless one dies. When two are bounded the one you are bounded to attacks can not harm the other; however that doesn’t mean it won’t hurt, it won’t kill them nor leave scars.”
Koenma nodded.
“However, it is only allowed between demons; it is forbidden for a demon to mate with a human, especially if the demon is the same sex as the one they are matting. If a demon mates with a human, the human not only lives as long as a demon, but becomes a half demon, being just as strong as their mate.” Koenma says.
“Why is it forbidden?” Yusuke asks.
“It is forbidden for two reasons. One is humans are not meant to live as long as demons and the draw back to the mating is when the demon dies, the human only has a week to live before they themselves die. They would have to mate another demon in order to stay alive, however it is different if the human dies before the demon; the demon finishes their life, not really connected to their human mate. The human is more so connected to the demon and must do what the demon tells them to do because of this.”
“Why are you telling us that?” Yusuke asks, starting to worry even more.
Koenma sighs.
“Rando wants to mate Kuwabara, and it’s not because he loves him; but because of his weapon.”
All three demon’s eyes widened at that.
“Why?!” Yuskue shouted, getting more pissed by the second.
“Rando is the type of demon whose soul purpose in life is to gain power. He learned as many techniques as he did by working with those who mastered them and after learning what he needed from them; killed them. However, with Kuwabara it’s different. His technique isn’t something one can be taught.”
“Kuwabara was a gift that is rare and comes only once a century. Only those with the purest of souls can control it; that is why it is rare to have and that is why Rando wants it. Even though those who wield the sword have pure hearts; their destinies are still not planed out. They are hard to predict and could go either towards the darkness or stay within the light.”
Koenma sighs.
“Almost every single human who’s had this power ended up being swallowed up by the darkness within their hearts.”
“Wait…I thought you said only humans with the purest of souls can wield it…how can they have some darkness in their hearts? Wouldn’t that make them impure?” Yusuke asks.
Koenma shook his head.
“You don’t understand what I meant. I mean only one human very century is born with a pure heart. Kuwabara was born without sins, which is rare, since human is born with some sins. Kuwabara had the sword locked away until it was needed. Like those before him; he was the key to either save or destroy the world.”
The three demons stared shocked at the demi-god.
“He will always be in that position until he dies; which was what my father wanted to do once he discovered what he had; I stopped him, convincing him if that happened then I would take full responsibility. That was what this test was. I thought Kuwabara would pass it…but now I’m not too sure…”
“Rando wanting to mate Kuwabara would make Kuwabara have to do what the demon says. What makes me even more frustrated is the fact he doesn’t even like Kuwabara. He can’t learn Kuwabara’s power and it’s impossible to have the power stolen from him Rando decided to take a two for one deal; the weapon to use as he pleases and the wielder of it; Kuwabara.”
“Kuwabara will never do what that bastard says!” growls Yusuke.
“Rando already has Kuwabara at his mercy. He has erased Kuwabara’s memory of his sister; which she already confirmed earlier. He possibly has forgotten you and the others that were more important in his life…there is no doubt he could manipulate him to do whatever he wants.” Koenma says, looking sadly at Yusuke.
Yusuke glares at the demi-god.
“I’m not going to give up on him…I’ll never give up on him. I’m going to get that bastard and then I’m going after you.” Yusuke says, closing his communicator.
He tosses it to the side, having it break as soon as it hits the brick wall of the alleyway.
“Come on guys. Let’s get Kuwabara back.” Yusuke says, entering into the dead end; Kurama and Hiei close behind him.
