Hiei's Harem - Pt. 10 - Initiating

Chugqueen, thanks so much for being the spokesperson for the unheard-from masses, lol. As far as SQ is concerned, it's on hiatus until my computer situation betters. I'm lucky I still have this old standby to be able to upload this story. It's storage capacity isn't enough to work with two stories. (I save the rough drafts in my documents with wordpad) :o( But I'm glad that someone is concerned about my other story, at least. :oD

Scene 10 -------------- The Next Morning


* Hiei is in the alcove beneath the lookout ledge, meticulously cleaning his katana. He is busy concentrating on the task but he's still aware that River is, once again, sneaking toward him. At the table both Celestia and Lily notice and start to stand. Sarista looks up, glances around, then stops them.


Sarista- Relax. He won't hurt her. You should know that by now.


* Celestia and Lily relax but continue to watch curiously. When River reaches the alcove she gets Hiei's full attention when she reaches out and touches the sword curiously. Hiei smirks.


Hiei- Hey, brat. Be careful, now. It's very sharp.


* River looks up at him grinning.


River- Papa.


* The Koorime freezes. The whole camp falls silent and looks toward the alcove. River forgets the katana and squirms her way up onto Hiei's lap.


River- Papa.


* He drops the sword aside and brings both of his arms up to embrace his small daughter. He then looks toward the females at the table.


Hiei- Who put her up to this?


* They all glance at each other then look back at Hiei.


Celestia- To my knowledge that's the first time she's ever talked.

Lily- I know I've never heard her say anything.


* Hiei looks back down at River who is pulling playfully at his cloak. She looks up at him and smiles.


River- Papapapa.

Hiei- Yeah. That's who I am. Don't get carried away with it, kid.


* He lowers his head to snuffle her playfully, in spite of his gruff words, making her giggle. Sarista smiles and looks at the other females.


Sarista- Those two deserve each other.

Celestia- I think he loves to hear her laugh.

Lily- He never did much of that himself.


* Sarista and Celestia sober at Lily's words, then continue their card game. When they feel a pair of familiar auras and a third similar one approaching they look toward the treeline. Hiei looks up also.


Hiei- Lily, come take River.


* The Kitsune hurries over as Hiei stands. River clutches Hiei's cloak whining.


Hiei- Go with Aunt Lily, Girlie. Papa has some business to deal with.


* River seems to sense his seriousness and goes into Lily's arms. As the Kitsune moves away Habataro and Kumataro step into the clearing holding Darieth between them. Hiei stands still as they approach.


Hiei- Cats.

Habataro- Darieth was followed last night by Coutaro.

Kumataro- My daughter didn't seem to learn her lesson the last time.


* Darieth scowls with a hiss, but keeps her face lowered.


Darieth- I'm no longer a cub! I can make my own..

Habataro- Your own decision nearly cost your uncle his life, Girl!


* Troiyoku looks toward them from the hammock.


Darieth- It's not my fault that he followed me!


* Kumataro cuffs the back of her head.


Kumataro- You will not speak to your elder in that manner!


* Hiei crosses his arms.


Hiei- Who was she seeing?

Habataro- The son of a rival alpha not far from here.


* Hiei moves forward and lifts the girl's face.


Hiei- You'll allow me to scan your mind.


* Darieth meets his eyes boldly.


Darieth- Fine. Do so. I have nothing to hide.

Hiei- We shall see.


* Hiei pushes his bandana up and opens his jagan.

Hiei- Focus on my third eye, Girl. Try to resist my probing and you will suffer.


* Darieth falters only a moment, then locks her eyes on the jagan. The purple eye glows brightly for several moments, then fades back to normal and closes. Hiei pulls the ward back down into place. Darieth shakes her head to clear it.


Hiei- Answer me.. This is the one you've chosen?

Darieth- Hai.

Hiei- Are you willing to make sacrifices to continue..?

Darieth- Sacrifices?

Hiei- You are correct. You're no longer a child. If you're sure you're attracted to this Rat demon's son..

Darieth- I am sure. His species matters little to..

Hiei- Then you'll leave your son in your Father's care and leave the village to go be with him. You won't set foot back in the village.


* Darieth's mouth falls open.


Hiei- You've not allowed him to see the boy yet. I believe that you know why your instincts prevented that.


* Darieth slowly closes her mouth.


Hiei- You have two hours to make your decision. If you choose to go to this Rat you'll leave everything you know now behind..

Darieth- But Duango insisted that I continue living with Papa. He knows how much I..

Hiei- If he truly desires for you to be his mate he'll accept your decision happily. But if he's just using you to gain information he'll more than likely be upset.

Darieth- I would never betray my Father or my uncles! When I told Duango's Father who Uncle Coutaro was they let me return him to the village and spared him.

Hiei- As I stated, you have two hours to make your decision. If you stay I'd better not hear of anymore contact between you and the Rat.


* With that Hiei turns to return to the alcove. Darieth yanks loose from her Father and uncle and leaves. Kumataro drops his eyes, but Habataro looks toward Hiei again.


Habataro- Sir,..

Hiei- If she decides to go you'll not interfere. But be sure that she doesn't take the boy with her. Rats are a species that destroys their mates' outside offspring.

Habataro- I know. I told her this.. But it'll be hard for Kuma to let her go.


* Hiei looks up at them and nods.


Hiei- Someday I'll know the same pain, Kuma.

Kumataro- Your decision is right, sir. I'm just hoping that this really is a true mating situation.. That she'll be safe if she decides to leave.


* The brothers turn to leave.


Hiei- Kuma.


* They both look back at him.


Hiei- Perhaps it's time you found yourself a new mate.


* Kumataro rolls his eys, then shakes his head as they continue off. Troiyoku gets to his feet and Hiei looks up as he approaches. When Hiei gives his permission in a slight nod the Fire hybrid hurries off to follow the cats. Hiei retrieves his katana. Sarista comes over to lean against the rock wall that forms one side of the natural alcove.


Sarista- That was very profound, Darling. How did you reach that decision?


* Hiei smirks and sheathes his sword then moves to lean one arm against the rock. The other pulls Sarista down gently to kiss her. Even though she submits to him willingly Hiei feels that her body's still a little sore from her recent birthing. He calmly works back away from her and moves toward the table. Sarista follows.


Hiei- I'm more than just a pretty face.

Celestia- Well, the pretty face sure don't hurt.

Hiei- Hn. Down, Wolf. You're too close to your delivery to be..


* Hiei jerks back around to look in the direction of the village.


Hiei- D---!


* Before any of the pack can question him he blurs away, leaving them with the mental assurance that he'll return as soon as he finds out the problem there. They briefly feel the Koorime's concern for Troiyoku and look at Sarista. The Alpha Female motions them to stay calm, getting ahold of Gamaru's arm when he stands to leave.


Sarista- He'll deal with whatever the problem is. He told us to stay here. We obey.


* Gamaru slowly sits back down.


Sarista- Let's get the evening meal started. That'll keep us busy until Hiei returns.


* Sarista glances back toward the direction Hiei disappeared in, then joins the others in busying herself.
