Chapter 1
Disclaimer: I own the Unlikely series. But the characters are not mine, except for the OCs. Hiei and Kuwabara's kids, Yusuke and Keiko's kids...and Koenma and Aiekichi's kids.
A/N: Takes place in the Unlikely Lovers Universe, right after the epilogue in “Unlikely Lovers become Unlikely Fathers”. I decided that before I let the twins, Yuki and Yaiba, loose on their own adventure that I’d do something with Kurama first. He needs someone spunky like Ryoko to love. ^^
Other characters will be making appearances in this fic…gotta have Kuwabara and Hiei’s kids running around in here somewhere…they’re about 5 now.
Ne, enjoy. And let me know if something is spelled wrong…it’s going on 2:30 am so there’s bound to be mistakes.

It was nice out, the sun was shining with only a few white puffy clouds to add to the scenery. Many people were out and about enjoying the afternoon running errands or just whatever happened to be interesting.
Ryoko laughed at Sasami’s enthusiasm as they explored the market, coming to the city today had most definitely been a good idea. It was nice to get out of the house and do things on their own. Washu was always busy with her experiments, though she did make time for Ryoko, trying to work on some sort of bond with her daughter. Aeka was back on Jurai, having left Sasami behind because the younger princess had refused to leave earth. Mihoshi was on duty and Tenchi had his studies…So it was just the three of them, Ryoko, Sasami and Ryo-ohki, and they were having a ball.
“Ryoko! Look at those carrots! We can get some for Ryo-ohki right?” Sasami asked.
“Nya!” Ryo-ohki’s eyes were huge and sparkling at the sight of the mouth-watering carrots.
Ryoko laughed and nodded, moving to pay the owner of the vegetable stand. “We’ll take some of those carrots.”
After making their purchase the trio moved on to look at other things while they relaxed.
“Ryoko…why are you so different now?” Sasami asked suddenly.
“Huh? What’dya mean Sasami?”
“Well…when Aeka was here you two were always fighting over Tenchi and weren’t very nice. But with my big sister back on Jurai you seem different…”
Ryoko grinned. “You’re wondering why I’m not chasing Tenchi now is that it?” Sasami nodded and Ryoko laughed a little, though it sounded strained. “Tenchi doesn’t love me, it’s that simple Sasami…besides, he and Mom are happy together.”
“But what about Aeka?”
Ryoko shrugged. “I’m not sure, I guess there’s just something about your sister that rubs me the wrong way. With her gone I just feel better…it’s hard to explain…” The ex-pirate looked thoughtful now, trying to figure out just what had changed about her. “I guess, I finally grew up.” She laughed again. “That sounds funny coming out of someone as old as me doesn’t it?” Gold eyes winked at the girl. “Don’t worry about it kid. Let’s just enjoy our day in the city, ok?”
Sasami smiled and nodded. “Okay!”

Kurama smiled at his little brother as they walked about the market, the boy’s eyes were wide and shining with excitement, his purchases held tightly in his arms.
“Thanks for taking me to the market today Suichi-san.”
Kurama waved his younger brother’s words of appreciation off. “No need to thank me. I’m enjoying our day out as well.” They continued on for a while browsing through the different stands set up when the younger Suichi spoke again.
“Oni-san…I was wondering…why do some of your friends call you Kurama?”
If the redhead was shocked he hid it well, putting a smile on his face and answered the child truthfully. “It’s simply a nickname.”
“Oh, okay…how did it get started?”
Curious today isn’t he…Kurama looked thoughtful and was very convincing when he said, “I’ve been called that for so long…I’m not quite sure how it got started.”
The boy looked satisfied with his answer and Kurama let out a small sigh of relief, his eyes closing for the briefest moment. When he opened them again he had to blink a few times to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
A woman stood not to far away from the stand they were at. And to say he was impressed was an understatement. She was tall, dressed in jeans and a simple black t-shirt. But she was slender and shapely silver hair spiking and falling over her shoulders. And narrow golden eyes, that were staring back at him.

Ryoko stiffened…someone was watching her. Quickly she looked over at Sasami and Ryo-ohki making sure they were alright. Satisfied she scanned the area, half-afraid that some vengeful victim of her pirating days had tracked her down, though that was rather doubtful. What she found was the last thing she expected.
The eyes that met hers were a vibrant green, that nearly seared her in their appreciative gaze. The face surrounding those living orbs was handsome, almost pretty to look at. And the shining blood-red hair gave the impression of flames giving light to something beautiful. Ryoko gasped at the man, totally taken in by his stare. And even more surprising…he was starting to walk towards her.
Sasami looked up then, and mistook Ryoko’s dazed expression for one of exhaustion.
“Ryoko? Do you want to go home now? I think Ryo-ohki wants to eat her carrots soon.”
Shaking herself and breaking the gaze with the redhaired man she smiled shakily at Sasmi. “Sure…lets find a place where I can teleport us back without being seen.”
They walked briskly away from the market, Ryoko aware all the while that the man was watching her. Finally they rounded a corner into an alley and Ryoko did as she said she would, transporting them back to the Masaki household.

Kurama blinked…just because they weren’t in sight anymore did mean that they’re aura’s should just disappear like that…who were they? And what was it about that woman that had him so intrigued after just looking at her?
He shook his head, filing away those thought for later and turned his mind back to watching his brother…though if truth be told, the woman with golden eyes was not easily forgotten.

LK: And there’s chap 1. ^^;
Yusuke: And what about those other fics? Wasn’t there one with Cherry Sauce that you were supposed to write?
LK: *sweat-drops* But the plot bunny for that fic died.
Yusuke: *rolls eyes* sure…
Kuwabara: Don’t you have homework?
LK: *blinks innocently* Homework? What’s that?
Hisoka: *holds up Algebra book* Oh neko-chan.
LK: *pouts* stupid muses.
