Well, I hope your life gets better soon and you can get back to your writing.
Know what you mean about the dying part, though. I've had relatives die slow deaths, and it SUCKS. Two of cancer, one emphysema, etc...
And to top it off, literally a week before my grandpa Jamie died of cancer, the family dog, Buddy died of worms, and he was part of the family, too. Old Bud was part of the family, mainly because he'd protect us no matter what, but also...how could any animal save a family member's life and NOT be part of the family? He fought a wild buck alone, after trailing people all day, to save my grandpa Leo's life. *shakes head* Yeah, the buck was injured a bit, but Buddy had been active all day and he STILL managed to fight the buck to a standstill.
But that was a nasty double-whammy to get hit by. Two deaths in eight days? *shakes head* Let's just say...when my grandma was all in tears just after grandpa Jamie died, I told her I thought Buddy had probably chosen to die before grandpa Jamie, because he wanted there to be another family member there for support that was known and trusted. Cheered her up, since that was exactly the kind of thing the dog would have done for any of his people, and Grandpa Jamie hadn't had a very happy family life until he joined ours...
So, just think: at least you're not getting the double-whammy. And hey, maybe my family's odd. I've got one uncle diagnosed with AIDS, another with cancer... but my family has this habit. We don't think of anyone as dying until they're actually in a home or hospital death bed.
Positive thinking matters--we haven't lost nearly so many of us as we should have, I think primarily because we're fighters, and we fight to stay with our family.
Try it out, eh? I'll root for you and yours. My kin do pretty well and can afford to spread the luck. :)
