Kagome's Mistake
First impressions

As Kagome's feet touched the firm earth of the other side of the well she knew, though she didn't know how she did she just knew something was different. Whether it was that she had been gone for two weeks on a forced family vacation and was now returning to the warring states era and just needed to re adjust or whether something was off she couldn't tell. But one thing was sure. She couldn't sense anything or rather anyone there to greet her. That in itself was creeping her out. Normally she'd arrive to the happy chorus of “Kagome! You're back!” from her kit Shippo. But there was only the hollow sound of the wind and the creaking of the tree branches.

Slowly Kagome steeled herself and made the climb out of the old well. Nothing looked different. The forest was quiet. The trees silent sentinels to the secrets of the well. Kagome was starting to get anxious. Straining her human ears she tried to catch the sound of voices, any voices. There was nothing. With a heavy sigh Kagome began the familiar trek to Edo and Kaede's hut.

As she crested the hill over looking the village a soft gasp escaped her lips. The village was in shambles. Wood scattered around like it had been blown apart. Panic seeping through her she began to run. “Inuyasha!!” she screamed as she let her feet carry her towards the wreckage.

Said hanyou looked up from the pile of wood he'd been studying while getting the lecture of his life. Miroku and Sango were not amused. Yes it had been in defense of the village that he'd unleashed his backlash wave but in doing so he'd destroyed half of the village. The damage had been fortunately only material. No one had died though many were injured.

“After this many years I can not understand what possessed you to use the backlash wave on such a simple opponent.” Miroku chided for the fifth time. Inuyasha's ears flattened and then perked twitching. “Kagome?” Abruptly he dashed away. Miroku sighed and surveyed the damage. It would most likely take months to rebuild. And they just didn't have that kind of time.

As Kagome got closer to the damage she could see the unmistakable signature of what had caused the devastation and was suddenly less than thrilled to see the inu hanyou responsible. “Kagome I know what you are thinking but you gotta hear me out!” he called as he ran towards her. Kagome slowed and stopped crossing her arms a crossed her breasts. Her eyes narrowed and she waited. “Alright tell me.” she said firmly.

Inuyasha paused not certain if he should continue towards her or make a run for it. He knew that tone. After three years he knew that tone well, it was the one she used before he was about to form a hanyou shaped crater at least four feet deep. His ears flattened to the top of his head and he licked his lips nervously. “It was an accident?” he offered.

Kagome frowned her very prominent body language speaking volumes of her displeasure. He swallowed “Look, I was trying to protect the village from a demon who was hell bent on destroying everything. If anything I should be thanked for my trouble.”

Kagome looked at him in disbelief. “You want a thank you for that?” she demanded feeling the slow throb of a headache. She waved her arm at the damage. He winced and nodded slowly “Its not as bad as it looks.” he offered again looking at the ground. “Inuyasha! How could you? This is going to take FOREVER to clean up.” He ducked his head. “They've rebuilt before.” he stated.

Kagome felt her eyes bug out. “I know you did not just say that THEY are going to fix all of this.” Inuyasha raised his head and dared a look at the small but formidable Kagome her hair was being tossed by the rising streams of her holy power and he could feel the ripples of it as it snapped and crackled around her. Oh yeah this was going to hurt.

Still he couldn't help the defiant side of him from speaking. “Yeah that's what I said wench.” No sooner had the last word left his mouth then he was slammed to the hard ground with a command of 'SIT BOY' It was while face planted in the dirt he began to consider gagging and binding his defiant side and burying it somewhere in the deepest reaches of his mind. It would most definably be less painful to do so. Unfortunately Kagome must have been in a very bad mood for she began to pound him repeatedly in to the dirt yelling sit. Finally she turned on her heel and stalked passed him to see if there was something she could do to help at the village.

Seeing the priestess headed their direction Miroku and Sango went to greet her with Keade on their heels. Kagome muttered angrily under her breath as she walked. Glancing up she sighed and shoved her anger to the back of her mind. “Hey guys!” she greeted once they were within hearing distance. “How was the vacation?” Sango asked taking on of the bags from her. “Well it could have gone worse.” she laughed. Looking around she realized a familiar kitsune was not present.

“Hey where's Shippo?” she asked. Sango looked at Miroku and paused. “Kagome, do you remember what I told you about Kitsune maturation?” she asked. Kagome blinked. “You mean he grew?” she asked. Sango nodded. “You won't hardly recognize him.” she said. Miroku grinned. “He's taller than Inuyasha.” Kagome giggled in pleasant surprise.

“Well where is he?” she asked. The grin faded. “Another Kitsune came looking for the jewel and Shippo left with him. They were not going to chat.” Sango said worriedly. “He wouldn't let anyone go with him either.” Kagome blinked “When did he leave?” she asked. “About the time you would have come through the well. They headed towards the forest.” Sango said. Kagome didn't think as she tore the pack from her back and thrust the other bags at Miroku. Turning she sprinted as fast as she could force herself to run towards the place that she could sense Shippo.

The battle did not look good from any point of view. Shippo had been beaten and he knew it. But his pride would not let him quit as he faced the silver Kitsune in front of him. The Kitsune had come for his surrogate mother and he would fight to the death if need be. His tricks he'd used as a kit had been all but useless and he had nothing left.

The silver Kitsune narrowed his golden eyes as he summoned his plant roots to finish the fight. Just as he sent the attack and it should have connected a streak of ebony shot in front of the Kitsune on his knees with a cry of “Shippo!” Too late to stop it the silver Kitsune looked in surprise at the woman now pierced by his plant. He had not intended to kill the other Kitsune and so the roots would not have killed a youkai but a human...

With a strangled scream Kagome felt the near blinding pain of four knife like stabs through both arms and legs. Pinning her where she stood. Shippo blinked “Kaa chan ?!” he whispered looking in horror at the young woman.

The silver Kitsune recovered from his surprise and blinked. As a rule he did not hurt women when it could be avoided. Hearing the youth call this onna 'Mother' he felt the first stirrings of something that could only be guilt. But he was more than confused. He could smell that beyond the scent of her blood she was innocent. It was not possible that she was the boy's mother. And from the feeling of a light prickle on his skin he would deduce that she was a priestess.

Slowly he pulled the roots back and the onna fell into Shippo's arms. “I'm so glad you are alright.” she whispered. Her vision was getting fuzzy with the loss of blood. With a sigh the silver Kitsune walked over and began tearing strips from his tunic. Shippo watched him warily. “What are you doing?” he demanded.

The silver kitsune looked up. “I had not intended for any onna's to get involved. If the blood isn't staunched she will bleed to death.” he stated. Kagome blinked trying to clear her vision. “Who are you?” she asked softly turning her endless cobalt eyes to him.

The Kitsune didn't pause. “Yoko Kurama.” he said softly taken a back by the look in her eyes. She felt no animosity only forgiveness. It was not a look he was used to especially by humans. And so he was unsure of what to say. Lowering his head he continued to wrap her wounds. “You didn't have to.” she said quietly.

Yoko shook his head. “I am not in the practice of leaving onnas to die from injuries I inadvertently caused. I know you can not be the boy's Kaa chan so why?” He asked. Kagome smiled “I took him in because he was an orphan. His family was killed by the thunder brothers. I couldn't leave him alone. He may not be mine by blood but he is mine by love. He was just little then.” she said looking up at the full grown kitsune who held her head in his lap staring down at her with worried emerald eyes.

Yoko looked at the little onna in puzzled wonder. “But you are a priestess, youkai are your enemies so why?” Kagome sighed wincing in pain “Priestess, human, youkai, hanyou it doesn't matter. What matters is who you are. It doesn't matter how you were born, love is universal. I think if people could see passed all of the prejudices that we could all live in peace”

Yoko felt like he'd been hit between the eyes with a rock. To say he was stunned was a major understatement. He'd never heard anyone let alone a miko speak like that of his kind. Youkai had always been either feared or hated. But here was this fragile human miko telling him she didn't care what he was but who he was.

He swallowed. “I'm sorry.” he said as he stood and began to leave. He had rarely ever apologized for anything but after hearing her speak he had been unable to keep the words from falling from his lips. He'd also been unable to look at her deep beautiful cobalt eyes. Kagome's power drifted over him and he tensed for a moment until he felt a calm settle over him filled with her forgiveness. Yoko did not stop but vanished in to the trees like an apparition.

Shippo sighed nuzzling her head sadly. “I'm sorry I couldn't protect you Kaa chan.” he whispered. Kagome looked up into the familiar eyes of her kit. “Shippo its a mother's job to protect her child. I'm just glad I got here in time.” she gave him a small smile. “Do you think my big strong son could carry his mother back to the village I need time to heal and rest.” Shippo nodded and then groaned. “Inuyasha's going to kill me.”

When Shippo came walking back into the village carrying the small fragile looking Kagome it caused a panic. She'd fallen in to unconsciousness as he'd run. The strips of white silk where already soaked nearly through with crimson. Though it was drying and no longer fresh. Inuyasha had caught the scent and was frantically scanning her for other unseen injuries. Only the already bandaged wounds were there much to his relief. Glaring up in to Shippo's green eyes he demanded “What the hell happened?”

Shippo frowned and continued passed the inu hanyou who nearly sputtered in disbelief. Shippo had ignored HIM? “Relax. I'll talk to you but Kagome's in pain” he said softly. Inuyasha shut his mouth with an audible snap. “Fine. But when you are done don't expect I'm going easy on you.” he grumbled. Stirring uneasily Kagome sighed “oswari”

True to his word Inuyasha gave Shippo a very strongly worded lecture about his protection skills or the lack there of. He knew that Kagome shouldn't have gotten involved even if it WAS a mother's job to protect her kit. But Shippo was not a kit any longer. He could no longer be sheltered by his loving Kagome or the rest of his friends. No it was time for him to stand on two feet and to become strong. He wanted to learn to use his power and there was only one Kitsune who could help him.

When Kagome woke up the next morning she knew Shippo was gone. Vaguely she recalled his copper hair brushing her forehead as he kissed her cheek in silent farewell. She could faintly remember his soft whisper of thanks as he left. Kagome felt the familiar burn in her eyes and the sudden tightening of her throat as she fought back her tears of so many emotions she didn't know which to blame.

Finally she swallowed hard and sat up. Looking around, the walls of the hut seemed to constricting, closing in around her. She struggled to her feet and walked unsteadily to the door. Pausing only to be sure no one would stop her, Kagome left. Walking with deliberate effort to the forest and the only thing that was the same in both worlds, Goshinkobu. The tree had always comforted her heart, making her heartaches less somehow.

Stumbling Kagome caught herself on the rough bark that scratched her soft palms as she slipped a little trying to regain her balance. Her limbs hurt and stung as the newly healed wounds stretched uncomfortably. She would have been bed ridden for weeks had she not been a miko. As it was she had only begun to learn how to heal. It had been accidental the first time it had happened. And truthfully she could not completely remember what had awakened the sleeping ability.

Only that when Shippo had gotten hurt in one of their battles she had wept bitterly and kissed the cut on the kit's arm gently. Her hands had warmed almost to the point of pain and a pale lavender light had surrounded her hands that were shaking while trying to pace the bandage. Shippo had gasped and they had both looked on in awe as the cut healed leaving not even a scar behind. After that she'd healed more rapidly and the power came easily to her untaught hands. Unfortunately her 'instant heal' did not work on herself leaving her to wait until her power sped her healing on its own. Kagome stood and continued towards the tree. Tripping she yelped in pain as she went down heavily to her hands and knees reopening two of the four wounds.

Gritting her teeth she finally lowered her self to the forest floor under the shade of the gods tree. Her light green tank top allowed her easy access to the wound on her arm. Silently she withdrew a blood stained strip of white silk and pressed the material to her bleeding arm.

“Onna, you should be resting in a hut.”

Kagome looked around for the speaker with the soft deep voice that made shivers race down her spine. Tentatively she spread her awareness out and gasped as he dropped down from the very tree she was sheltered under.

The patched sunlight shone on his silky looking silver hair and tail. He'd replaced his tunic with another this one too was white. He looked at her with guarded golden eyes. 'why was SHE here?' Her lips thinned as a soft hiss of pain left her lips. Yoko's eyes quickly assessed the cause of her pain. Frowning he crouched down and drew a plant seed from his tunic. Holding it in one palm it sprouted and he used his other fist to crush it to a pulpy mess. “Here, this will numb the pain.” he said in a voice that left her mind reeling.

“What pain?” she asked staring at him with wonder. 'Damn kitsune charm.' he cursed to himself. Then he froze he'd never cursed his charm. He'd loved his innate ability to charm both human and youkai women to his bed. But he needed her to not be spellbound. He needed her to think. She was bleeding again. 'Why?' he mused 'why is she bleeding again?'

Yoko was not a youkai who ever felt regret or guilt for anything. He was widely known as a cold heart-ed killer and a notorious lover. But once his fascination was lost it was lost forever. He never thought twice. Never looked back so what was it about this onna?

'Blue eyes.' he thought as he looked in to those cobalt eyes.

Since he'd seen them. Damn those eyes Those forgiving, accepting eyes, he'd felt regret. It was subtle but there none the less. He'd taken that kit into the woods so no one would interfere. And all because he'd wanted... that damned jewel. He didn't want its power. He wanted because every one else did. He wanted to succeed where countless had failed.

He'd planned to seduce the miko no tama and in the stupor of afterglow take the jewel. Oh yes the prospect of her rumored beauty had excited him drawn him like a moth to a flame. Damn those beautiful wonderful eyes When he'd learned the jewel was shattered he'd been irritated but the prospect of the miko had still drawn him. If he couldn't have the jewel he'd take another treasure. One far more rare and beautiful. Innocence.

Of course he'd heard of her journey and of her pack. But he'd not know of her kit. Perhaps that was why. Seeing her put her self in danger to save him some minor damage had affected him more than he cared to admit. He'd not known her identity then. He'd never had guessed that the beautiful fragile onna he'd struck was the very prize he'd sought.

Her words had left him dazed and unable to leave the forest. He'd found this tree and under it felt peace. So he'd stayed. It was while hiding in its welcoming branches that he'd over heard a monk and hanyou discuss the woman's condition. The hanyou had been crass and uncouth demanding to know when they could resume the search for jewel shards. He'd loudly complained that it was Kagome's responsibility for shattering it again.

That was when he'd learned the name that belonged to those depth-less blue eyes. Kagome a unique name to perfectly go with those damnable, beautiful eyes.

Kagome shook her self and looked away from his searching gaze her eyes filling with tears. “I'm sorry.” she whispered. Her small delicate hand reached out for the crushed plant and silken fingers brushed his palm. He flinched away from her sudden touch startling them both. Yoko frowned at his reaction. He was not in the practice of flinching from anyone least of all a woman.

“Let me.” he offered pushing her hand away. Kagome swallowed shaking her head in protest. “Uh it's ok. I'll heal I just have to wait.” she muttered her voice thick with tears. “Onna, why do you cry?” he asked uncomfortable with her sudden fluctuation of emotion. She lowered her head further. “Shippo left.” Yoko frowned “Shippo? Your kit?” he questioned as his nimble fingers bandaged up her wound. “Yes. He didn't even say goodbye. Not really.” She went silent as he worked.

The silence was abnormally uncomfortable to Yoko who now that she'd stopped speaking realized he rather liked the melody of her vocal tones. “Tell me how you found him.” it was not a request but other than sitting a little straighter she did not refuse.

Kagome took a deep breath and looked up at the tall branches above her, as if collecting her scattered thoughts. “Back when I first started traveling with my friends it was just me and the Inu hanyou. We stopped for lunch in what remained of a battle field.”

“That doesn't sound like a pleasant place for a meal.” he commented dryly.

“HE was hungry, I was not.” Kagome growled at no one in particular in annoyance of the memory. “So while he ate I looked around at the... er... scenery. After a few moments the sky began to darken. And since it was mid day, well naturally we went on guard.”

Yoko nodded. “naturally.” he agreed interest in his voice despite his attempt to hide it.

“Then suddenly there was a pop. And a pink balloon was biting the inu hanyou. Of course Inuyasha gave the poor thing quite the slap. However I for one was rather amused not scared. At least until the little fur ball stole something from me. Then I had to react. But Inuyasha got to him first and to stop the fight he tricked Inuyasha pinning his hand to the ground with a statue. It was a rather clever trick.” She laughed brightly with a fond look in her eyes.

Yoko sat down watching her laugh. Her blue eyes which had merely entertained him now enthralled him with the sparkle of mirth. He found himself once again silently damning her fascinating eyes.

“Shippo even tried to trick me but instead I ran after him. But that was when we were caught by Manten of the thunder brothers. And also where I learned that Shippo was an orphan. He was just a child and alone. I couldn't let him die. So I fought for him. But it wasn't enough. I got taken to the home of the Thunder brothers and told I was going to become an ingredient for a HAIR tonic. I don't know about you, but that's not how I'd want to die.”

Yoko frowned, the thought of her dying at all bothered him but he shook it off with a wave of his long fingers “Not a death I'd prefer either. Continue, onna.”

“Kagome.” she corrected automaticly. “Anyway, I tried to trick them into believing that Inuyasha had the rest of the shards and that he'd exchange them for me.”

“Shards? As in jewel shards?” Yoko asked in a bored tone. Kagome swallowed “Am I to understand that you are the Shikon no Miko?” he said languidly his tone deepening to that of his seduction. Kagome shivered as his voice sent tingles racing down her spine. She blushed and shook herself.

“Ummm I can't...tell...you that.” Kagome avoided looking at his eyes. “So to make a long story short. We avenged him and then I took him in.” she finished. Yoko nodded with a indifferent expression. “I see. You are an unusual onna.” inside he was stunned. No make that shocked. No woman had ever side stepped his seduction. Normally the woman would offer up the information and her self in one instant. But she had not. Was she a human or not? He could not understand how she'd broken free. But he mentally shook himself and determined to try again.

“So Kagome, will you tell me of your journey? How it began and why the jewel shattered in the first place.” his deep voice flowed over her in a wave that nearly left her panting for breath. She still avoided his eyes. She refused to give in to the emotions that deep rich voice stirred. Jumping to her feet when he reached out and touched her, sent her tumbling back down to the ground completely unconscious.

Now Yoko was a very clear thinking calculating youkai but this was beyond him all he had done was touch her arm and she'd jumped out of her skin. That was not supposed to happen. It was a blow to his male ego and pride. This was completely ridiculous.

“Onna.” he stated reaching to shake her. Leaning close to her he noticed that the leg furthest from him was soaked crimson. It took him less than two seconds to realize the situation and he uttered a low curse. Here they were chatting away while she was slowly bleeding to death from another wound he had inflicted. Was the woman completely stupid? Then he realized the reason he had not noticed was due to the wound he'd dressed earlier. She had said something about waiting for her healing to take affect. Yet obviously something had gone very wrong.
T
Tempted to simply walk away and leave her to her fate he stood and began to leave. But his conscious was not going to let him. Angrily he pushed his thoughts away and acted. Using the barest amount of pressure he ripped the cloth covering her leg with his claws ripping it open to her hip. With a low growl he ripped his tunic from his body and tore a long strip from the silk. Quickly he bound the wound using another of the crushed plants to speed the coagulation of her blood. Once finished he looked down at the girl and turned but he stopped. 'Why bother to bind her wounds if I plan to leave her for dead?' frowning he scooped her limp body up and ran.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Lord Koenma frowned at the screen before him. The images were of things not that were happening but that HAD happened. “Do you see! Look what's happening.” he demanded thrusting a finger at the screen angrily. The young woman he spoke to stomped her foot.

“Of course I can see it! I lived it! How was I supposed to know that I was never supposed to meet Yoko Kurama?! It's not like there was a huge neon sign saying 'Kagome, you should never meet this drop dead gorgeous sexy pretty silver haired fox that just so happens to want your body' above his head.”

She tossed her ebony hair back over her shoulder with a huff. To say she was irritated was an understatement. She was way beyond irritation. In fact it took all of her patience and then some not to put the toddler ruler over her knee. Honestly no one likes to get home and be confronted with 'because of your interference the whole world is in jeopardy speech from a three year old. But that is exactly what happened.

Kagome came out of the well house feeling a light with the euphoria of new love only to be confronted with the “great and terrible” toddler of spirit world. It wasn't enough that she'd just had her first real kiss from the demon in question. Oh no the little brat had to go so far as to tell her that because of her Kurama had vanished.

Not only that had never been born. The child who was to have become Shuichi Minamino had been still born because of a birth defect. His mother had died in childbirth and the list went on and on. Who knew that one life affected so many. Well if she were honest with herself Kagome would have said that she knew, but at this exact moment all she could think was “Holy crap! All this because I didn't kill my demon boyfriend?!”

Truthfully it was that she hadn't let him die of the wound he'd gotten from a failed heist. According to the brat he was supposed to have died that night and then been reborn as Suichcii Minamino in the future. Born exactly one year and six months to the day as Kagome. They were supposed to have met in the future at some point but thanks to Kagome he had never been born and also thanks to Kagome had taken over as one of the three kings in the Makai. Something which caused mass chaos, not that the demon world was ever orderly.

Yusuke Urameshi folded his arms with a deep frown. It did not help his mood that he'd been mid battle when two of his friends and team mates disappeared. Only to have the fire apparition reappear as his opponent hell bent on killing him. Yusuke was more than pissed at having to kill his friend Hiei who couldn't remember anything about any of the missions or Yusuke.

“Damn it woman could you not have used your heal-ly hands all over my buddy!? And I really don't want to know about Kurama wanting you.” It wasn't that the girl wasn't hot cause she really was. Nice curves, long silky hair, sexy long legs that seemed to go on forever and endless cobalt eyes that had faded to the color of the sea during a storm. Oh yeah, she was most likely the hottest chick he'd seen in awhile. And since Yusuke had been in the Makai for several months preparing for the demon world tournament she was like a tall glass of water to the desert. Scratch that. Now that she was LOOKING at him with those eyes she was like a monsoon to the desert. But she couldn't wash away his anger and so he glowered at her.

“Yoko was special to me. I couldn't LET him suffer. It would have gone against all of me.” She stated pleadingly.

Koenma coughed. “Well Kagome, that is exactly what you will have to do.” Kagome looked confused. “What is?” she asked. “Go against yourself. You have to go back and fix this error. But its not going to be easy. Even though Yusuke will be with you. There are some rules...”

“Rules?” Kagome echoed quietly.

Koenma sighed “Yes. Rule number one: You can not under any circumstance see, speak to or interfere with your past self. Rule number two: You are not allowed to speak of your mission period. Other than those you are free to change this any way you see fit. However I would recommend using sex appeal to lure Yoko away.” He stated casually.

Kagome looked horrified. “I can't do THAT.” she protested. Yusuke's glower turned to shock. “Wait you aren't saying that you're a vir-” Kagome's eyes narrowed “Say one more word and I'll purify you to the deepest reaches of hell.” Yusuke blinked and then began to laugh. “Holy shit! You really are. I never thought I'd ever see a woman who had spent time with Yoko that was. That is some shock. I'm never going to let him live that one down.” Kagome's eyes widened “Hey! Not that it is any of your business but I happen to be a MIKO you know a shrine MAIDEN.” she spluttered forgetting in her embarrassment her threat.

Koenma pinched the bridge of his nose. “You do know that Kikyo wasn't a virgin right?” He asked in frustration. Kagome blinked and then gasped. “She and In- In” she couldn't finish. It was too painful. Koenma didn't see the hurt in her eyes and continued “She slept with a inu hanyou on the night before they killed each other. He had proposed marriage and she went willingly to him. So you see you don't have to be that pure.” Kagome slumped to the floor. “I didn't know.” she whispered. Koenma looked up and frowned. “Damn. I shouldn't have said anything. Kagome I'm sorry.” he tried.

Yusuke glared at the toddler. “What the hell?” he asked. Koenma sighed “Kagome is Kikyo's reincarnation they were in love with the same hanyou. But after Kikyo was brought back from the dead in to a body made of bones and grave yard soil he stopped seeing Kagome and began seeing her again.”

Yusuke gagged “That's just sick. I mean she was basically a walking corpse right?”

Kagome hung her head. “You're wrong. It wasn't that he stopped seeing me it was that he never SAW me. To him I was always Kikyo and not Kagome. I loved him and he never saw. Yoko saw me as Kagome. He made me feel special and loved. Even if that isn't how he felt. He made no effort to hide the fact he was a Kitsune in every sense. He never said he loved only me. But that was okay because when he was near me I know he never thought of anyone else. When Yoko came to me dying I couldn't stop myself. I knew I was in love with him, but all I could do was heal him and leave, promising myself that I'd never see him again. I didn't mean for any of this to happen.” she said softly.

Yusuke sighed when he picked up the scent of her tears “Hey come on quit that! Stop the tears and lets fix all this. I'll even introduce you to Kurama when this is all over and then you can be with him with out the worry.” He put his hand on her back and as he spoke. Slowly Kagome nodded. “Alright.” She agreed allowing Yusuke to help her to her feet. “Hey I'll be there okay. It's not going to be easy for me either. It's not like I WANT to watch my friend die.”

Koenma cleared his throat. “When you are ready Kagome I will open the portal. You will have one week. But you will have all the chances you need. This mission is too important to spare the expense. Just make every thing count.” he said handing her a small bottle of glowing jewel shards. “With out these your past self can't go through the well I borrowed them the night before you returned on the day you met Kurama. So now you have to hurry because you know that even with his dumb luck Inuyasha will find another and come to fetch you.”

Kagome gulped. “I don't even want to think about the argument that happens when he finds out I misplaced them.” Koenma smiled. “If you complete your task you never will.” Kagome paused “Does that mean it will be like I never met Yoko?” she asked feeling tears well up again. Koenma sighed “If you accomplish this task as it needs to be I will allow Yoko to retain the memories of your time this week so make it count.” he said slowly. Kagome nodded. “Right. Let's go then.” she stated picking up her large yellow back pack. “Yusuke will join you in at most an hour so try to stay out of trouble.” Koenma said flicking his wrist towards an empty space. The air rippled and a portal opened up. “I'll be fine.” she said picking up her bow and quiver.

Kagome stepped out of the frying pan and in to the fire literally. “Hot hot hot!” she yelped running out of the flames. Quickly she patted her self down and put out any little sparks on her clothes. It was only then that she felt the oppressing force of the youkai staring at her with unblinking feral eyes.

Kagome let out a little yelp of surprise and began to talk, quickly. “Oh I suppose you are wondering what I am doing in your camp fire? Well I can't tell you, but I am really sorry to have disturbed you and on that note I'll just be on my way. My apologies.” she finished with a little nervous giggle and tried to walk away.

Key word tried. In less time than it took her brain to send the command to her foot to take the first step, Kagome found her self pinned to the trunk of a tree held up by nothing other than the youkai's claws. “No one said you could leave onna.” his voice was low and deadly. They didn't like getting caught unaware. They were bandits, thieves and murderers. Having a woman jump out of the fire had disrupted their evening of gloating over their spoils. Kagome closed her eyes and tried to swallow. Fear was choking her as she struggled against the pressure on her throat. “Yusuke!” she choked. He squeezed a bit more and she began to panic. “Kurama!” she wheezed hoarsely.

Kagome fought weakly for a moment, but before she lost consciousness another portal opened and she could hear a long string of expletives as Yusuke also stepped in to the fire.

Unlike her, stepping out of the flames with out a single backward glance. He was Raizen's heir a little fire wasn't going to bother him. Though he'd been fired before with the lack of Kurama and Hiei he had returned to being a spirit detective. Koenma had pulled him from the Makai as he was. Human with demon blood. He was powerful and just as deadly as the demon glaring at him even if he had less tack.

From Koenma's explanation he had pulled Yusuke just as Kagome healed Yoko. But with the instant repercussions it had not been quick enough to not kill Hiei. And it was while mourning over his friend that he'd been taken to the spirit world. Hiei and all. He was pissed and there was nothing better for him than a throw down.

With an almost giddy cry he leaped in to the fray. He took out Kagome's assailant first and kept a vague watch on her as she coughed. It took him less time than he wished to turn the camp in to a macabre scene. The few who had managed to escape were long gone. “Damn woman! Can you not stay out of trouble for even five minutes?” he asked popping his neck and knuckles.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Kagome leaped to her feet pointing an accusatory finger. “Hey I did not CHOOSE to end up in a camp fire. That little brat did it on purpose. I know I messed things up but throwing me in to the fire was unnecessary. I could have gotten burned or worse and then what?” she demanded.

Yusuke shrugged. “Then I haul your crispy ass back and we try it again. Relax. Okay? Look you can't mess this one up. You get as many tries as it takes.” Kagome paled. “You mean if I die then I just keep coming back till I get it right?” she asked shaken. Yusuke laughed “yeah. With your luck that could be thirty or forty times!” he paused and reached in to his pocket. “Here. This is for you in case we get separated.” he said tossing her a communicator. “It will put you directly through to me or Botan. She's the grim reaper. Crazy personality though.”

Kagome blinked and looked at the communicator in horror “ you WANT me to talk to the grim reaper? What am I supposed to say. 'Um Hi this is Kagome Higurashi I just died can you come get me?!' I don't usually talk to death. This whole thing is just insane! I get that I shouldn't have saved Yoko but talk to Death isn't that a bit extreme?” Yusuke grabbed her roughly and put his hand over her mouth.

“Idiot! Did you forget about where we are?” he hissed in her ear. “The volume alone of your tirade is going to draw attention. And I didn't take out their leader he wasn't here. These were minions.” he informed her gesturing to the many demon corpses around the clearing. Kagome slowly nodded that she understood and he released her. “I'm not unaware of this time Yusuke. I've been coming here for three years. I just was not thinking.” she raised her hands and sighed.

“We should leave here though the smell of death will draw other demons.” Yusuke informed her as he dug through a pile of yukatas. “Its probably best for us to maintain a low profile and dress like they do here. So here.” he said shoving a kimono her way. Kagome slowly acquiesced. Stepping off in to the trees to change she kept the fire in sight.

Yoko looked in the direction she'd walked from the tree he was perched in. There was no question in his mind as to who she was. He'd noticed the jewel shards around her neck. The stories of this girl were infamous. She was the keeper of the Shikon no tama. The coveted jewel that was going to make him a legend just by managing to get it. He didn't care about the power he'd heard that it offered he wanted it for its value.

With curious eyes he watched the little guardian remove her strange garments, revealing the creamy soft looking skin beneath. Tensing suddenly as though she'd felt his hungry eyes. She shivered and Yoko found himself wondering what it would be like to give her a different shiver. One of raw pleasure. 'Surely she could be as much a prize as the jewel.' he speculated as he continued to watch her from the shadows testing her scent on the air.

Kagome looked around and finally spotted his golden eyes in the shadows. Her cerulean eyes met his for an instant and Yoko's mind went blank. 'Those eyes...' he mused absently. Pulling the fabric of the kimono quickly over her she knotted the obi and dashed back to camp.

Yoko shook himself. “Well, well this is a interesting development.” he chuckled softly to himself. Her eyes had been fearless as she'd looked up at his. There had been raw emotions in those eyes he had no names for. There was no question that now he wanted them... both. The rumors about the jewel even in its shattered state were priceless. But now he could see they hadn't done its keeper any minute form of justice. He'd heard that though powerful she was very plain and nondescript. Lies. All of it. She was beautiful. He'd noticed her figure too as she'd dressed. No doubt she was an enigma, a puzzle for him to solve. From her proximity he'd smelled her. Her innocence and purity unmatched. The scent of a priestess. Her wide expressive eyes, her pale translucent skin. Oh yes, she was a treasure. And by damn he was going to have her.

He leaned back against the trunk of the tree and let his mind play out fantasies of all the ways he was going to make her scream out his name when he got his hands on her.

Yusuke remained mostly quiet as they left the camp. Hiei had told him some of the stories of Yoko Kurama the King of thieves. He knew that Kurama in his time had a bit of a conscience when it came to girls but he knew very little about the demon himself, he was not about to lower his guard to an unknown entity who might prove to be more than even he could handle.

Kagome how ever looked awful. She'd acted weird since coming back from changing into the kimono. When he'd asked if something happened she'd shaken her head and remained silent. Yusuke sighed again as he tucked his arms in to the wide sleeves of his newly acquired gi. It was going to be a long night and he just knew this mission was going to be hell.

Kagome proved to be well prepared for camping as she dug a variety of things from the depths of a bag that couldn't possibly hold all of it. Soon they had a cheerful fire going and were both quietly eating a cup of the ramen noodles she had. She was seated, with her legs stretched out in front of her, on the top of her sleeping bag. All she'd had to offer Yusuke was a rather thick blanket. He was sitting on it in a familiar pose of being guarded, minus the sword that would have been there if he had been Inuyasha instead, his back against a tree.

“I saw him.” Kagome murmured after a moment. Yusuke blinked. “Him?” He asked confused. Kagome rolled her eyes “Yes. Think Yusuke. Who do you think I'm talking about.” Yusuke frowned and paused. His eyebrows rose sharply. “You mean-”

“Shhhh!” she cautioned cutting him off.

Covering her mouth she mouthed his name behind her hand unsure if they were still being watched. Yusuke shook his head. “Oh. I know I felt him.” Kagome blinked. “So what, you didn't feel inclined to share that with me?” she asked pointedly.

Yusuke shrugged. “I figure the less you know the more likely I can keep you from doing anything stupid.” She threw him a withering glare. “Oh sure, like you are Mr. Perfect. I thought you were here to help me.” she snapped. Yusuke snorted. “Help you? There is no help for you. You are a walking disaster! Koenma said that you attract trouble like a beacon. And it's not just that thing around your neck. Do you realize how much damage you could be doing? You shouldn't be here, and when this mess is fixed I'm taking out that well permanently.” he stated.

Kagome paled. “Yusuke you can't.” she pleaded. “I haven't finished my task! You don't understand. I HAVE to complete the sacred jewel. I have to end its bloody rein. Every youkai who has a shard gets exponentially stronger.” Yusuke shrugged “So?” Kagome began to panic “I only have a portion of it back. Naraku could already have the rest! He wants the whole thing so he can taint it and become a god!” Hot tears began to spill down her cheeks.

“It's my fault! All of it! I BROUGHT it back here. I can't just walk away!” Yusuke frowned “So leave it to the people here. I'm sure that they can do just as well.” Hysteria began to bubble up as a choked laugh escaped her lips.

“I'm the ONLY one who can purify it. If I don't no one can touch it with out being corrupted!” Little sparks began lighting up on her skin as she became more agitated. Yusuke blinked. “Whoa, whoa. Calm down okay? Look it was just a thought. I won't. But you need to calm down before you purify the shit out of everything in a mile radius. Take a deep breath and breathe.” he said standing up to run for it if she didn't.

Kagome took several quick gulps of air as she scrubbed her eyes with the heel of her hands. Almost instantly the purity in the air lessened as she calmed. Slowly he lowered his hands and looked at her. “Are you under control?” he asked hesitantly. She didn't answer. “Um...tell me about...” he paused trying to think of something to take her mind off her panic. “your fox.” he offered.

Kagome blinked. “Which one?” she asked.

“Either.”

Kagome sighed. “You saw it. When I met him he was attacking my kit. I threw myself between them. I was ready to die for Shippo. But I guess he wasn't planning to kill him just incapacitate him for a while. But he nearly killed me. I don't really remember if he said anything to me. But he bound my wounds with the silk of his tunic. And I remember looking in to his golden eyes and feeling that I couldn't be angry with him. I should have been but I wasn't. He had been fighting against us but I could see that he wasn't evil. Cruel and cunning but not evil.” she sighed.

“I met him again the next day.” she said tossing her hair over her shoulder to braid it. “I was walking in the forest and tripped re-opening two of my wounds. I thought I'd rest under a tree until I could heal. When he called out to me.”

Kagome looked up at the stars above them. “He was upset with me for not being in a hut resting. But he bound my wound again and sat down to talk with me. He asked me questions about Shippo and we talked for awhile. In fact I was so wrapped up talking with him that I forgot about my leg wound that was still bleeding. I remember thinking as I sat there that I wouldn't mind dying there with him. It was a silly romantic thought more than likely brought on by blood loss.” she blushed.

“Next thing I remember I woke up in a cave surrounded by all sorts of plants wounds completely healed. Y-he was watching me warily from a corner no doubt expecting me to start purifying everything with youki. It was a challenge to get him to relax. Once he did though he began asking me questions like crazy. All at the same time trying to use his power on me.” She flushed brightly. “I must have frustrated him to no end. He just couldn't get anywhere with me.” she giggled. Yusuke grinned thinking of all the ways that information could be used.

“I guess that's when I became more of a challenge and he decided to pursue me in earnest.”

Kagome sighed her joy fading. “That will never happen now though right?” she asked wistfully. Yusuke shook his head. “You weren't supposed to meet. It just wasn't meant to happen this way. You were supposed to meet like Koenma said.” Kagome tied off the braid. “How do you think he got there, to the ningenkai?” she asked.

Yusuke shrugged. “Maybe he followed you?” he offered as a question. Kagome frowned. “If that is the case then why was I not supposed to meet him? What reason would he follow me if he didn't know me? And the timing is off. He would have to wander around for four-hundred and forty four years.”

Yusuke frowned “Maybe he tried to follow you and ended up there at that time and had no choice but to rest because it took to much out of him?” he speculated. Kagome yawned. “Go ahead and sleep. I'll keep watch. I don't sleep much these days.” she nodded and slipped in to her sleeping bag. “O yasumi nasai.” she murmured as she drifted off.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Morning proved to be uneventful as they woke and ate breakfast. They had not really planned to leave the campsite since it was clear that Yoko knew where they were and was probably plotting something. But when Kagome realized that they were no where near a hot spring or water source at all she made the decision for them.

“I can't not take a bath! That is disgusting! I refuse to be filthy. And we can't camp here with out a water source. So we are moving.” she said firmly re packing her backpack. “We'll head north and west I know of some great hot springs in that direction and I know that a river runs close by too. So its the best of both. My friends and I have camped there several times.” Kagome explained.

While she packed a demon aura fell over them and Kagome paused. Yusuke crouched now on the defensive. Kagome giggled. “Calm down Yusuke. I know this aura. They are friends of mine.” she laughed cupping her hands around her mouth. “Kirara! Sango! Down here!” she yelled. Kagome waved at a neko manta youkai who dove down towards them.
“Kagome!! What are you doing clear out this way?” Sango called down as they got nearer. Kagome laughed moving close to where they landed and embracing her near sister.

“It's a really long story Sango chan.” she sighed. Sango laughed. “With you Kagome chan, I would expect no less.” She looked around and her chocolate colored eyes landed on Yusuke. She blinked. “Who is that?” she hissed at her friend. Yusuke frowned at the new comers. “I'm Yusuke Urameshi.” he answered coolly. Kagome groaned. “He's my babysitter.” she said childishly sticking out her tongue.

Yusuke glared. “Right. Because you definitely need one.” Kagome sighed. “I'm beginning to think this is how he always acts.” Yusuke folded his arms. “No this is how I am when I have to kill one of my friends because a stupid girl decides to change the past.”

“Kind of touchy isn't he?” Sango said under her breath. Kagome nodded. “I can't really blame him though...” she began. “Oh no. You are NOT going to take full responsibility for his words. You might have done something, but he ultimately has to choose his responds. I will however say this.” she turned on him her eyes flashing “If you hurt my sister. If she sheds one tear over a word you say, there will be no where for you to run. I will hunt you to the ends of time. My vengeance runs deep, Hanyou.” she stated.

Yusuke sighed. “Look, Kagome did something that changed the future. I'm here to protect my interests, namely my best friends. I don't know how to be around girls.” he admitted. Sango's eyes widened. “Kagome what did you do?”

Kagome lowered her eyes to the ground and sighed, “I can't tell you Sango chan, believe me I want to but I can't. Lets just say my good nature finally caught up with me and I was ordered to fix it by a very persuasive...err um toddler.” she muttered sheepishly. Sango frowned as she thought of all of the possibilites that Kagome could be talking about but then she had a sudden insight. “Didn't you go on a vacation with your family? How are you here when your vacation wasn't going to be over for another two days?” she asked eying Kagome suspiciously.

Kagome sighed heavily and then pulled her friend close enough to whisper very softly in her ear. “For you this is two days before I return for me this is three months ago. Umm its really complicated and I swear I will explain everything to you some day but I can't right now. The only thing I can do is to beg you, please can you keep Inuyasha away from this area? Only for a week. But I can't see my self or something bad will happen. Please Sango?”

Sango seemed to be thinking for a moment before she rounded on Yusuke. “Hit me. Make it look believable. After I have a toxin that won't kill me but it will make me sleep for a week. Kirara after this will you take me to the others and tell Shippo to take me to Kaede. Kagome I would only ever do anything like this for you.”

Yusuke looked less than happy about the slayers command. He didn't hit girls unless they attacked him. “Why can't Kagome do it?” he asked frowning at the slayer.

Sango glared at the man. “Because fool Inuyasha has an incredible sense of smell and he would know Kagome's scent it has to be you because he won't recognize the smell. What are you too frightened of a slayer to hit one? Coward! Idiot! Fight me!” Sango moved swiftly towards the detective and threw a right hook to his jaw. Yusuke slid back a few paces before wiping the trickle of blood from his lip. “Alright bitch but don't you forget that you asked for it.” he warned before his fists were flying faster than Kagomes eyes could follow.

Someone was screaming and it took a moment for Kagome to realize that it was her. Then she was moving forward her power coming to her hands in her agitation. “Thats enough! Stop!!” she screamed throwing a shield up between them. Yusuke hit it and was thrown back. Sango slumped to the ground her breathing harsh and shallow as she was certain some of her ribs were broken. “Damn you! I said hit me not kill me.” she gasped out painfully.

Before she could stop her Kagome's hands were hovering above her chest and Kagome was glowing brilliant lavender as she healed the broken ribs. Regretfully she didn't touch the bruises or the swelling as that would have made the entire thing pointless.

Unnoticed by any of them a pair of golden eyes watched in fascination at the displays of power the miko had shown. It only heightened his desire to steal her away and claim his prize. He no longer cared about the trinket hanging at her neck. No he was for more interested in a powerful being like her to be at his side. He might even consider the unlikely idea of taking her for a mate as her power would keep him entertained for at least the length of her life, but in order to determine that he would need to observe her further.

After Sango had draped her self over the neko manta she withdrew a vial from a hidden pouch in one of the red armor shells and looking once more at Kagome she sighed and tipped the contents down her throat. “Kirara take me to the others hurry.” she said as her words began to slur and she collapsed on the fire cat. After the two had taken off Kagome knelt in the dirt and picked up the vial. Holding it close to her she silently wept over her friends sacrifice for her. Yes she had asked for her help but never like this. Essentially she had put herself in to a chemically induced coma and the very idea had her in a near panic. Without a word she gathered he pack and her weapon and walked past Yusuke leaving him to follow on his own.

No sooner had she left that Yusuke jumped up and scrambled after her hastily kicking dirt over the coals of the fire. He felt awful. He hadn't meant to be so rough but she had pushed his buttons and he'd snapped. Dammit. Kagome was crying again, sure he knew that her best friend had put her life on the line to help her but that was no reason to get all teary eyed right? “Hey Kagome! I'm sorry I got a little carried away! Kagome! Come on I didn't mean to almost kill her. Would you wait? She asked for it. You heard her...” Kagome's spine stiffened as she turned chilling blue eyes on the object of her current ire.

Yoko Kurama watched the entire scene with amusement or at least he had been amused until Kagome had begun to cry and then he was more than ready to go down and beat the one called Yusuke to a pulp. When Kagome stood up to leave Yoko followed her silently in the tree tops keeping her in sight. Choosing to watch over her instead of beating a stupid male. Upon hearing the males words his chuckle of amusement rumbled silently in his chest. Apparently he wouldn't need to beat the male because the onna looked spitting mad. Unlike the human ideal of women being demure Yoko liked his with some fire he found them to be better lovers that way as the fire in them translated to passion very easily.

“She. Asked. For. It?” Kagome said her voice deadly calm and yet her rage belied them as Yusuke, an S class demon shivered as a feeling of dread and fear swept through him. He nodded stupidly and then blinked in shock as his head snapped back as she hit him. He knew then that the slayer must have taught her a few things because it was a similar right hook though Kagome's packed more of a punch. “If you ever touch my sister again I will purify you to the deepest layer of hell and when Koenma brings you back I'll do it again. She sacrificed everything to help me and you will never never say anything about it like that to me again. Sango could die and it would be my fault!” she said angrily.

She froze as she felt an energy wash over her elevated aura. “Oh no.” she groaned. Looking around frantically she spotted a low hanging branch and throwing a barrier around herself and yuske to hide their scents and auras she made a dash for the branch and deftly swung up on to it pausing only long enough to glance upwards before she swiftly climbed the tree Yusuke hot on her heels.

Once high enough that the branches hid her from sight she looked towards the dust cyclone headed their direction. Unnoticed by either of them the foliage became thicker and more covering as Yoko watched from a couple branches above them.
The fates had to hate her right now as she watched Kouga skid to a stop in the clearing. He was sniffing the air ans Kagome could feel the sweep of his youki as he searched for her. His eyes focused on the tree they were in and Kagome ducked. Their was a rustling above them and Yoko Kurama dropped down from the higher branches. “What is it you seek in my domain wolf?” he demanded coldly.

Kagome sucked in a soft breath as she waited for Kouga to be his normal stupid self and get killed by Kurama. “Not that its any of your business but I felt my woman here and came to check on her. But I don't see any of her friends though I smell the slayers blood.” He said more to himself but he answered the kitsune honestly. Glancing up at the tree he gaged her reaction to his words and was pleased by the irritation he saw in her blue eyes. Her eyes were captivating as she held his gaze for a moment.

Focusing back on the wolf he shrugged. “You won't find her here. The slayer came though and was attacked and badly injured by a strange youkai who left after the fight I assume to lick his wounds. I know not where she went from here.” the lie rolled smoothly off of his tongue and as it was sprinkled liberally with some truth it was impossible to detect a falsehood.

The wolf swallowed it easily and took off the direction that the slayer had gone. Yoko Kurama looked up once again meeting her eyes. “I do not know for what purpose you are here in my forest but I will speak with you in private miko.” he stated leaving no room for objection. She teetered on the branch as his voice washed over her. Closing her eyes she also felt the exhaustion for healing Sango wash over her and with out warning her body went limp. Before Yusuke could react she was falling the considerable distance to the forest floor. Yusuke sighed as he knew that there was nothing he could do. But she never reached the ground as Kurama snatched her out of the air and took off swiftly.

“Ah shit Koenma's gonna kill me!”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Are you awake, Miko?” a deep seductive voice drawled next to Kagome's ear making her jump suddenly and with a knee jerk reaction her hand connected with Yoko's face. Confused Kagome sat up and looked at her hand as though trying to figure out what happened. Glancing up she caught the stunned look on the handsome Kitsune and the reddening hand print on his cheek. Looking at him it suddenly dawned on her that the hand print was hers and she blushed. “Gomen, I certainly did not mean to slap you Kurama. I guess its a habit of sleeping and being constantly on alert.” Sleepily she crawled on to his lap and nuzzled him in apology.

Yoko Kurama was thoroughly confused now. He could understand her reaction as he had actually been testing her to see if she had a one, but to have her call him by name and then crawl in to his lap? Had he met her before and he just was unable to recall? Never, he would have remembered a delectable morsel like herself. “Miko, I am thrilled by your embrace but do not onnas like yourself prefer introductions before we couple? I mean I am all for the thrill of the rutting with a strange beautiful onna that coyly refuses to speak her name. But I am quite certain that you are neither coy or comfortable with such things.” Yoko said quietly and then wished he'd kept his mouth shut.

Kagome leaped off his lap as though burned. “Yoko!?” she cried in shock as though suddenly coming awake finally. Her big blue eyes were frantically searching his room as though she was searching for something and then her frantic eyes settled on to his golden eyes that were sparkling with amusement and curiosity. Turning away for his look she stomped her foot lightly as she tugged at her long midnight locks. “Its not the same. How am I suppose to do this?” she whined softly. Absently she lifted her short sleeve and rubbed a silvery scar with her hand while she thought. Finally making a decision she turned to the Kitsune who probably thought she was crazy.

“I'm Kagome Higurashi. It's nice to meet you.” She met his golden eyes and felt the tremor in her limbs like always. He was looking at her curiously but there was no disgust in his eyes only... She shivered as she met his lust filled gaze head on. Kagome shook her head and looked away missing the shock and disbelief on his face. “So I'm guessing that you would like an explanation huh? I uh...” she swallowed and thought about the words the toddler had said. 'Sex appeal? Well uh I guess it doesn't hurt anything right?' she thought.

Lowering her eyes she tilted her head slightly as peered up at him through her thick lashes. “All I can really say is that you were very brave dealing with the wolf for me. He started calling me his woman but I could only ever be happy with someone as tall strong and sexy as you are.” she purred while sticking her lip out slightly in a pout. Mentally she groaned 'he can not possibly be buying this crap. I've never flirted in my life who am I kidding?'

Yoko Kurama was transfixed. Never before had an onna broken free of his seduction to use her own. And to her credit it was working very well indeed. Yes he could tell that she was a novice and that she had probably never even spoken to a male in such a manner but there was something extra appealing in that he was her first. She had potential though and Kurama felt an unfamiliar feeling surface inside him. Normally he would seduce his desired one and then after he would sent them on their way. But this was honestly the first time he'd ever brought a being to his caves and something about this one screamed soul mate. He was not a stupid creature and feeling was so strong that he could not ignore it.

Spirit kitsune's were notorious for being free with their quantities of lovers and though that was well known it was not known that the whole purpose was to find a being they could be with eternally. When such a being was found their souls would bind and he would never again be able to couple with another. Even if the ceremony was not completed Yoko suddenly knew that she was his. It struck him so powerfully that he nearly fell to his knees.

Kagome noticed him shaking and forgot trying to pretend that she didn't know him. “Kurama!” she cried as she ran to him and threw her arms around him. She didn't care about the stupid rules of the Reikai or the damage she could be doing. No the only thing on her mind was the kitsune she'd missed horribly since being separated from him. Raising up on her tip toes she pressed her lips to his gently and confidently. After all he had been the one to instruct her silently when he'd kissed her before.

He froze for an instant under the onslaught of emotions thundering through him as he felt her lips on his. But an instant only before he had taken the kiss in to his control and deepened it. As a rule he didn't kiss his lovers as it was a very personal thing and he had always been very impartial to any he'd taken to his bed, however as he opened himself to her and delved his tongue in to the sweetness of her mouth he found that he was quickly becoming addicted to her flavor and the sounds of her moans.

Koenma slapped his forehead as he watched the screen with Yusuke. “Well it was what you told her to do.” Yusuke laughed. Beside him Hiei watched in amusement as Kurama blushed to his toes. “Oh ha ha very funny.” he mumbled as he shifted uncomfortably in his chair as the visual was making other needs well known. Kagome grinned widely as she poked her mate playfully. Leaning down to his ear she whispered “I can give you a better view back home...”

The screen went black as Koenma turned to speak with Kagome about the events that took place after their kiss but only the grinning faces of Hiei and Yusuke remained. “Who would have thought that Kurama came to this world to find his wayward mate? It's almost ironic huh?” Yusuke laughed “I guess her meeting Yoko wasn't that much of a mistake after all...”

Koenma banged his head on the desk. “No.” he admitted. “Not a mistake at all.”
Hiei roared with laughter as did Yusuke...

The End
