Misery Loves Company

After three years in the demon world, Yusuke Urameshi was done. Training with his father’s followers had been fun and getting his ass handed to him in another tournament had even felt good but now, it was time to fulfill promises he’d made. Yusuke swung his bag over his shoulder and took one last look at the valley he had called home for the last three years before he stepped through the dimensional rift what would take him back to the human world.

Two months later………………..

“I’m sorry Yusuke. Three years was really a long time. I’ve changed and you’ve changed too.”

“Keiko, I’m still the same guy I was when I left! Granted I’m a bit stronger now but I’m still the same old Yusuke. And you haven’t changed all that much either Keiko. Sure you fill out a dress better now but….”

“No, Yusuke.” Keiko interrupted. “I’ve grown up. I know what I want from life. I don’t want to have to worry that I’ll never see my husband again when I leave in the morning. I don’t want my children to have a part time father. They shouldn’t have to wonder where their father is and why he’s not home to play with them.”

“I told you, I’m done with that! I haven’t been spirit detective since that whole thing with Sensui!”

“I don’t mean that Yusuke. What happens if demons come looking for you?”

“I politely tell them to piss the fuck off. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll just kick their ass!”

“I don’t want my family in danger. I’m sorry. I just can’t be with you anymore. Goodbye Yusuke.” And with that, Keiko Yukimura turned and walked away.

“But Keiko! I-I love you.” Stopping, Keiko turned to face Yusuke once more.

“I love you too Yusuke but, it could never work between us.” Turning, Keiko climbed aboard the last train to Hanagiri City where she now lived.

He couldn’t believe what he’d just heard. For the last three years, she was all he had though about. Well her and not dying or letting the human world get overrun by human eating demons. As far as he cared, that was here nor there at the moment. Slowly, he walked back to his apartment on the outer limits of the city. Along the way, he passed old Sarayashiki Junior High. He stopped for a moment and looked at the building. He remember the fist time had ever skipped. He’d managed to sneak out right under old man Takanaka’s nose. He spend the whole day at the arcade and beat his high score on Gloomwidow. It had been a perfect day…..until he got home. The moment he opened the door, he was bombarded by a tirade of ranting and nagging from Keiko and his mother. “Back when she still cared if I made something of myself.” Yusuke thought bitterly. After a while, Atsuko gave up and left for a supposedly hot date. Keiko had just sat there flaring at him while he turned on the tv and powered up his video game console. “And just what do you think you’re doing?” she’d asked in that high girly voice of hers. Yusuke couldn’t remember what he’d said but caused Keiko to take him by the ear and drag him all the way back to school. Yusuke sighed and pinced the bride of his nose. Just going home tonight wasn’t going to cut it and going to his usual escape at the arcade didn’t feel right either. “This is so stupid!” he muttered to himself. When he saw his appartment building above him, he knew he had to do something. He immediatley took a left onto a little used streed and just kept walking. Right, left, another left, right and another right. Gradually, a lound booming caught his attention. He kept walking until he found the source. It was coming from a little hole in the wall club. “Friday night and no line, this place must really suck.” Pulling a pack of cigarretts out from his pocket, he lit one as he leaned agains a flickering lamp post. He stood there for a few minutes, listening to the bass heavy music as he finished his smoke. “Well seeing as I’m already here, might as well go inside and get a drink…or three.” Pushing off the post, he took one last drag of the cigarrette before throwing in on the ground and crushing it underfoot. In two quick strides, he was opening the door and headed towards the bar. He took an open seat next to a girl who was throwing back the rest of her wiskey and ordering another. “I’ll have what she’s having bar keep.”

Now for the next chapter, (which is all written by the way)we'll intorduce the lady at the bar. Problem is.....I haven't exactly found a name for her yet. Suggestions anyone?
