Hiei's Harem - Pt. 9 - Heating Up

Okay. Here we go with the next sequel. See? I told you this would be big, lol. I chose the name for a couple reasons. You'll see as you continue to read, my faithfuls. If you've stumbled newly into this fic, you have a LOT of catching up to do, hehe. Please start at the beginning, which is HH #1, Establishment. As always, pay heed to the warnings, I don't put them there because they're pretty. There's going to be a lot of various things in the course of this story. This is fiction, not reality. So, therefore, just because I write it for these unreal characters doesn't mean I condone such things as rape, incest, abuse, murder, etc, in real life. I don't own any of the main YYH cast, I just manipulate them and make them do as I say. (Insert evil laugh here, as I shove Hiei back into my closet bound and gagged). Now, let's get on with this nice, long opening scene. :o)

Scene 1 ------------- One Week Later


* It is very late at night when Hiei wakes up with a sense of extreme sorrow. The first thing he does is check Sarista sleeping beside him. The Fire demoness murmurs, but remains asleep. When he is sure that she is fine he gathers up at his cloak as he leaves the alcove and throws it on as he looks around checking the rest of his pack sleeping in the large cave. He moves first to Klarice, remembering that the petite Ice hybrid is only a couple weeks or so away from gving birth. But Klarice seems to be fine. As are all of the others. Hiei kneels last beside Lily. The Kitsune, still in her full demon form, almost immediately jerks her head up to look at him. When she recognizes her Alpha she relaxes and thumps her bushy black tail once in greeting. It isn't unusual for him to come to her bed in the middle of the night like this lately. But something about his manner niggles her senses tonight.


(#) Lily- Master?

Hiei- Are you okay, Fox?

(#) Lily- Shh.. If you wake them they'll start roasting me again.


* Hiei rubs one of her ears when he makes out her foxy sneer. He stands, still unable to shake the almost overwhelming emotion. Lily sits up when Hiei starts toward the vine-covered entrance.


(#) Lily- What's wrong, Hiei?

(#) Hiei- Nothing.. Go back to sleep, Lily.


* The vines part enough to allow his dimuitive frame to pass through them. As soon as he is out in the clearing his jagan opens and hones in almost immediately on the village. There's trouble there. Without a second thought Hiei blinks away. He pauses only briefly when he passes through the plant border. In the next instant he heads for Habataro's hut. When he comes to a stop again outside the curtained door he hears the unmistakable sounds of sorrow inside. Curiously, he pushes the heavy curtain aside and enters. He finds Habataro, the eldest Lynx brother, on his couch, face buried in his hands. The Koorime's chest lurches when he hears the lanky male sob. Habataro looks up a bit surprised when Hiei moves to him.


Hiei- What..?

Habataro- My.. second mate Falina.. She gave birth to a daughter..

Hiei- You're not crying for joy, Cat.

Habataro- My baby was stillborn.. The midwife s-says I.. I may lose..


* Habataro blinks and Hiei is gone. Using his full energy he zips back through his ravine to the cave. Sarista and the others wake as soon as he enters.


Hiei- Sarista, Trinka, come as quickly as you can!


* Sarista stands with a bit of effort, due to her expanding belly.


Sarista- Hiei, what..?

Hiei- One of Hab's mates needs you.. Follow me as quickly as you can to his hut.


* Sarista glances at Trinka as she throws her thin, wrap-around dress on. Then they hurry out of the cave after Hiei. A few moments later he leads them into Habataro's hut. The Lynx has just been handed a tiny wrapped bundle. The large male handles it gingerly as Hiei goes over.


Hiei- I've brought my two healers.


* Hiei looks up at the elderly demoness that he figures must be the midwife.


Hiei- Quickly, Woman. Take these females to his mate.


* The plump demoness nods with a slight bow and hurries away. Sarista and Trinka follow. Hiei lays a hand on Habataro's shoulder.


Hiei- I felt your sorrow.. I came as soon as I could.. Sarista and her daughter will do everything they can to save your mate.


* Habataro nods quietly and leaves with the bundle. Hiei sits on the couch to wait, knowing that Hab wants to be alone. The apparition's thoughts turn to the many such events that he'll soon be facing. Although he's already experienced the losses of three of his Kitsune's unborn litter, he has no idea how he'll face losing a child that he'll hold. He's gradually accepted the fact that, by some act of some deity that he has yet to determine friendly or not, he will become a Father. As each day passes the Koorime has become more agitated, but he's more irritated at not understanding why just yet. There had been a passing thought concerning his own heat, but he'd quickly denied that. He hasn't experienced such since breaking through to his stronger S level. He'd found that one of the perks of this higher level was being able to regulate that aspect of his life. So it surely can't be that. It is a couple hours before his weary mates return to sit beside him, bringing him out of his musings. Sarista feels him struggle to bury the irritation he was experiencing and waits. She nods when he finally looks up at her.


Sarista- We arrived.. on time.

(#) Trinka- She was.. bleeding.. internally.

Sarista- Due to our.. weakened power it took us.. a while, but she'll be fine now.

Hiei- Hn. Thank you.. I'll go tell Hab the good news. You two can make it back to the cave okay, right? I'll be right behind you.


* The two females nod weaarily. Hiei kisses them both then they all stand and leave the hut. They find the three brothers standing around a small pyre. Its crackling flames are the only sounds in the predawn. Hiei waves his mates away then goes over to stand beside Habataro.


Hiei- From now on you will alert me and my two healers will attend any future births.


* Habataro looks down at Hiei.


Hiei- Your mate will live.. They reached her in time.. She is resting.


* Habataro closes his eyes as he collapses to sit down. Kuma and Cou both hurry around to kneel beside him and give him what comfort they can. Hiei turns to leave.


Habataro- Sir,.. Master,.. Thank you.


* Hiei looks back at his subordinate.


Hiei- I understand loss.. My Kitsune mate has lost three of her unborns.. She's doing everything she can to hold onto the remaining two.

Habataro- I wish her well.


* Hiei nods.


Hiei- So do I.. Call me if I'm needed.


* Hiei then leaves the brothers to their mourning quietly.
