Shura's Quest - A New Situation

Okay. Here we are at the next stage in the continuing quest against Demon World's latest threat. Buckle your seat belts and keep all appendages securely inside the vehicle at all times.

Scene 1 ------------------------------------------- Gandera

* General Mukakai's sphere drops to the ground and fades away just outside of Gandera. He gently sets the old demon, Youda, down.


Mukakai- I still think this might be too risky..

Youda- Trust me.. If the boy's brain is as scrambled as you say..

Mukakai- He's nuts, Youda..

Youda- Then he will most likely find my appearance to be a good sign.

Mukakai- I can't wait until you see the boy, Master Youda..

Youda- You mean his spawn?


* Mukakai scratches his head a moment, then slowly shakes it.


Mukakai- No, Sir.. The boy in that tank isn't his.. I honestly don't know how he brought that baby back to life..


* Youda looks back up at the general.


Youda- Are you sure Mukuro's baby was dead when you left that room?


* Mukakai nods sadly, then grimaces at the brief flashback of having to watch helplessly as Shura's soldiers mutilated the baby they'd just carved out of the dying Lord.


Mukakai- It was such an aweful sight I.. I had to leave.. The last thing I heard was Shura's giggle..


* Youda sighs.


Youda- That must have been hard on you.. An unfortunate necessity to keep your cover.


* The two begin walking toward the main city.


Youda- So he's been infusing this.. thing.. with blood from the others?

Mukakai- All I know of that is that he took blood from the Koorime, that Youko's kitsune brother, and he's waiting on a delivery of the Mazoku's.. For all I know probably himself and Kandero as well.


* Youda nods.


Youda- I think I understand.. You see, General, when Shura was created himself the formula Lord Yomi used was similar.. But the boy, himself, was indeed a product of Lord Yomi's.. His mother was chosen from the royal concubines because of her strength.. But as strong as her demon powers were, her body was weak.. She would have miscarried anyway if she hadn't died.. Not all demons are strong and hardy..

Mukakai- Yes. I know this.

Youda- When the female died she was only in her third week of carrying.. Not wanting to lose his only child and heir, Lord Yomi ordered me to preserve the young life in a regen tank until he devised a way to continue its development. I must say, I was surprised when the child continued to develope inside the tank..


* Youda stops walking when the main gate comes into view. He shakes his head and looks up at Mukakai.


Youda- I should've shut the tank down, but I was very devoted to Lord Yomi.. Back then, I was only concerned for his happiness.. Besides that, I took pity on the child.. When Yomi brought his plan to me I doubted it would work..

Mukakai- So who's blood did he use?


* Youda glances up at the general a moment.


Youda- His own of course.. and mine.. This is why the boy always called me Grandpa.. Somehow he recognized me as being a part of him.. The plan was going well until that idiot general of his decided to add some of his own blood into the mix.. Luckily, I caught him before he added too much and we gave it little thought at the time..

Mukakai- You mean General Shachi?


* The old scientist gives a curt nod and looks toward the modernistic city again.


Mukakai- Ahh, that explains those big ears of his, then..

Youda- Yes.. It also explains his insanity.. And thirst for revenge on the Youko.


* Mukakai looks at the short demon again.


Mukakai- But this boy looks too much like that koorime to be just a fraction of his blood..

Youda- Let's go get the whole story, then.. Then we will end this.. creation.. Somehow..


* Mukakai hesitates to follow when Youda starts off again. When the elderly demon realizes that the general isn't following he stops and folds his hands behind his back.


Youda- General,..

Mukakai- I don't want to have to take the life of another innocent child, Master Youda.. I'm not that heartless.. and I'm not a baby-eating species..

Youda- Lord Yomi has left this decision in my hands.. I will not make the same mistake that I made with Shura, General.. Now, take me to see our new Lord.


* Mukakai sighs deeply and moves on ahead of Youda to lead him into the city. The guards recognize the shorter demon as they pass and look at each other in silent contemplation.
