When Kurama twitches in
his sleep, Hiei awakes from his slumber. He rises from the floor, silent as a
ghost, and watches Kurama, noticing the flushed skin and beads of perspiration
on it. Lines surround Kurama’s mouth and eyes and for a fleeting moment Hiei
wonders what the vain fox will do if they’re permanent.

Hiei touches the damp skin and frowns. The temperature is high, much
higher than before even though Yukina said that the fever is gone with the last
remains of the poison. Perhaps she didn’t take Kurama’s current form into class=GramE>account,
Hiei thinks and considers his options. He knows the
easiest solution, the possibility to save Kurama from his fiery death. It’s the
easiest one in theory but he understands a human body and its endurance less
than Yukina does.

Then Kurama cries, his body burning, and Hiei doesn’t hesitate anymore.
He takes Kurama’s face between his hands and concentrates.style='color:black'>

Moonlight Shadowstyle='color:black'>

Kurama doesn’t know what’s happening, not where he is or why he’s sick.
He can’t remember and the fever has turned his usually organized thoughts to a
chaos. Moments go by and Kurama wonders hazily if an hour has been gone or a
month. Has he lost a year of his stolen life?

Sometimes there are voices and once Kurama tries to murmur a name. class=GramE>Yukina. For awhile
it’s easier to breathe and he feels better, falling asleep. But then it’s back,
all of it, the headache, the knife gashing his stomach and the terrible
burning. The fire in him stays even after everything else is gone.style='color:black'>

There’s someone with him through all this, Kurama knows, a pale and
black moonlight shadow guarding him. A touch on his face and the world is
white. White and black and agony and ecstasy and a whispering voice, comforting
him, promising it’ll be over soon.

Gasping, Kurama opens his eyes and looks around. The world is clear
again and beside him, sleeping deeply, lays Hiei whose palms are bleeding.style='color:black'>

Hallelujahstyle='color:black'>

Slender fingers travel down his arms and Hiei knows they’ll end up
grabbing his hands, pinning them next to his head. But first they will caress
his palms because although there are no scars, Kurama remembers. The touch is
gentle and almost tickling, and Hiei smiles.

Kurama isn’t smiling but his eyes tell all the more, his touch as clear
as the words would be and his warm body on Hiei alive. That matters the most
and Hiei arches his back, welcoming Kurama and hearing his own name, whispered
with gratitude and love deeper than the shadow which almost took this all away.style='color:black'>

They are moving together, sweaty bodies meeting and parting and meeting
again, and the kiss is long and of tenderness and passion. The light is
brighter, the world forgotten and Hiei wants, needs, nothing else. This is
Kurama worshipping him, saying thank you and love you and thousands of other
things, an endless hallelujah.

wanted to portray Hiei and Kurama, not what happened, but if you want an explanation
