(A/N: This is my first Kurama/Hiei fic. Please be kind)

Kurama looked out the window. Rain fell in sheets, muting all colors outside. He fell back onto his bed. He had planned on meeting up with Yusuke today, but with the rain, he couldn’t. He sighed and turned over. Rainy weather was such a drag, depressing to day the least. He picked up a book from his bedside table and flicked it open.

He read a few pages, then put the book down. Nothing seemed to hold his attention. He closed his eyes, drifting into sleep.

Hiei walked down the street. He knew the general vicinity of Kurama’s apartment, but the actual location was a mystery to him. He turned down a street as fat drops of rain began to fall. The fat drops soon became a heavy downpour. Hiei felt as if someone was pouring buckets of water over him, though through the rain, he could see a figure standing in a window just to his left. The person turned back into the room and disappeared, but Hiei had locked on.

He raced to the building and dashed up a few flights of stairs. The name on the mailbox read “Minamino”. A smart knock on the door quickly rewarded him with a woman answering. He remembered that Kurama’s human name was Suichi.

“Is Suichi home?” Hiei winced at the unsure tone in his voice. “I hope I have the right place.”

The woman smiled and nodded. She opened the door wider and motioned for him to come in.

“I think he’s in his room. He was supposed to go meet a friend of his, but with the rain, I don’t think he is going to. You are soaked, why don’t you go get a hot shower?”

Hiei stared at her. She was so kind to him, a perfect stranger. He could be anyone, a killer on the loose looking for her son.

“Huh?”

She’d disappeared somewhere in the small dwelling, but soon returned holding some folded clothes. These may swallow you, but at least they are dry. I can have your clothes dried if you just hang them outside the bathroom. She motioned for Hiei to follow her.

She flicked on the light, a low rumble of thunder sounded outside. She opened a small door and handed him a washcloth and a couple of towels. She stepped out of the room and turned back, closing the door halfway.

Just hang your stuff on the doorknob and I’ll get it. I’m doing some baking, so I’ll hang it in the kitchen to dry. You can leave your underclothes hung in here.” With that, she shut the door and left. Hiei pulled off the dripping clothing, and laid it on the sink. Picking up the towel, he made sure he was covered and opened the door. Hanging the cloak and pants on the door, he carefully shut it again.

Pulling the curtain to, he reached in and turned on the water. Within a few moments, it was hot. Stepping into the spray was a welcome relief from the cold rain. Steamy water poured down his body, chasing away the chill. He just stood there for a few moments, then as the water cooled, he quickly washed and rinsed. He turned the water off and reached for a towel. He dried off and put on the dry clothes. He stepped out, and found his clothes gone, so he turned and went down the hall to an open door. He saw Kurama stretched out on the bed, fast asleep. The blankets were bunched up at the end. Throwing caution to the wind, he walked up to the bed, and sat down. He pulled the covers up and laid back, making sure they were wrapped around Kurama. Sleep quickly over took him.
