Chapter 1

Summary: YYU/IY crossover piece.

Characters: Most of the usual YYH and IY cast
Author’s notes: Has a little OOC is some characters in later chapters, but not much. And yes, I know that the well is not really a demon well. It's my fault for forgeting the A/U thingy...yep a lot of little things don't add up, but how else can you stick YYH and IY together? Also I love Kuwa-chan and I know he is a powerful spirtual force. I just need him to lighten things up. He's good at taking one for the team. Like it or not, thanx for reading, heh.

REIKAI TANTEI - DOWN THE WELL

CHAPTER ONE
"You wanted to see us?" The flame haired Kitsune and the three eyed boy approached the desk.
"Hiei! Kurama! Great! It's a mess here as you can see," the baby pointed to a mountain of paperwork, "So I'll make this quick. You two need to gather with Yusuke and Kuwabara, and watch this," he handed Kurama the tape, "The mission will be explained then."
"So I had to come all the way here for that?!" Hiei spat. Kurama tried to stop him from being rude, but gave up.
"Look you! I normaly would punish you for that outburst, but were busy with Spring updates! I know it's a long trip, but Botan's gone for a while, and this is the only way there is."
"K-Koenma-sama..." Kurama spoke quickly to interupt Hiei's complaint, "Thank you for the tape, we'll assemble and review the mission."
"Just hurry, time is a factor! If things get out of control with this case all hell could break lose, literaly."
"Again? Hnn..." Hiei flashed toward the door.
"Shut up damnit! Go! The world depends on it!"
"Right." Kurama sighed and snuck away as Koenma started choking a random ogre.

"So what's going on now?" Yusuke sat on the floor in front of the small TV. They were in Kurama's room.
"Koenma-sama said to watch this" The red head put the tape in.
"Wait! I want popcorn!" Kuwabara jumped up.
"Would you shut the hell up?! I don't want to kill you on Kurama's pretty rug." Hiei said from where he was leaning against the window.
Yusuke silenced their now loud arguing with a wave of his hand.

"I assume you all are here..." The baby on the tape spoke,
"Recently there has been an increase of B or lower class youkai in the Ningenkai. We realize they will occasionaly escape through our Kakai Barrier, but not at this rate. Upon doing a land scan of the most affected city we found an old well."

"An old well?" Yusuke asked the air, Kurama shhed him.

"This is no ordinary well. it's an ancient form of youkai known as Honekui, or the Bone Eater's Well. Countless youkai have been devowered by it, their bones visible, only to be gone within days. The main problem is due to the reawakening of an old relic, and meddling of an unknown source, the Honekui is now a gateway. This gateway is a passage to the past...the Sengoku-jidai to be exact."

"Wait a minute..." Yusuke hit pause, "Someone wanna explain Sengoogoo whatever to me? I skipped history class."
"Yeah me too." Kuwabara said bragingly.
"Fools. Why would I know anything about this stupid worlds history?" Hiei looked out the window angrily.
"It's also known as the warring states era." Kurama spoke quietly with eyes closed. "A time when Japan had brutal wars within itself. Approximately 1467 - 1568 CE. Demons roamed in physical form because the sin and murder was so abundant. It was infact when I lived as Yoko Kurama." He smiled in a reminicant way.
"Okay glad someone understands this..." Yusuke hit play again.

"If this well eats any more demons or humans, it will grow. Allowing more ancient demons to escape. Some of the times demons were so powerful they rank over an S-class."

"Over S-class?!" Kuwabara choked.

"Most were said to be exstinct. As long as this well lives creatures we don't even have classified wil roam the Ningenkai. You must go to the Higurashi Shrine and use the well. Once on the other side you can see who's manipulating it. This is the only way to stop it. Honekui is an imortal youkai, when it's not being controled it is nothing more than an empty well. Something is making it do evil things. You have to stop it. Botan is gone for a while, so I'm trusting you to do this alone. Be very careful you all, and don't let that well feed anymore under any circumstance." The tape cut off.

"So, someone is using this Honekui to open a gate to the present. sounds familiar."
"That shrine's not too far from here. We should leave right away."
"Right." Yusuke nodded and the four were out the door/window.

"Hey guys, should we be in here?" Kuwabara spoke a little too loud for Yusuke's taste, as he grabbed his mouth, covering it.
"Shut up you dumbass!..." He whispered, "It's kinda illegal...but we have to, so shut up." They all blinked as Hiei sliced the well cover in half, making a huge sound.
"It's open." He said without emotion.
"No time to waste..." Yusuke jumped in and the three followed. Disappearing in a flash of blue.
"Hello?" an old man in a shrine outfit peered into the shed.
"Damn those youkai, that's the 5th lid this week! At least Kagome takes it off easy." He sighed and slid another cover on that he had in a pile of sutra covered lids.

"What the fuck just happened?" Yusuke looked up at the sky.
"Did anything happen?" Kuwabara patted himself down.
"Yes." Kurama smelled the air. "The scent of the air is very different. This must be a forest...in the Sengoku-jidai."
"How do we get out?" Kuwabara looked around.
"Figure it out idiot." Hiei flashed upward and out the well.
"He's just a little upset because he wanted to go back to the Makai this week. Now he can't."
"That's cool, but I don't think he can hear you." Yusuke pointed to Kuwabara climbing sloppily up vines. Swearing doom for the 'three eyed freak'. Kurama just sighed and began to climb as well.

"Great, where the hell are we?" Yusuke and company looked around to see tree's everywhere.
"I can faintly smell humans that way, and the grass does seem to be worn." Kurama pointed.
"Hey, quick question...did they have bikes in the sengoogoo? Cause these are definitely bike tracks."
"No, not that I remember."
"So someone from our time is here or has been here."
"Perhaps the one controlling the well?"
"If you two are done your chat I'd like to get this over with." Hiei began walking the way Kurama pointed.
"Hey what's your problem freakout? You've been a bitch all this time!" Kuwabara shouted. "I've had just about enough of your attitude shrimpy!"
"Why must I be here? With you all? I'm in hell..." He flashed to a tree and onward.
"Yeah you run you asshole!" Kuwabara crossed his arms victoriously.
"You two stop it, damn! Let's try to focus here." Yusuke followed Hiei.
"Me stop? It's not me!" Kuwabara ran up ahead.
No one noticed Kurama standing still.
"...It's...real..." He said to no one, walking over to a tree and laying his face to it.
//The scents, the air...it's the same...I remember.//
Kurama's eyes seemed to roll back some and returned, a more yellow shade.
///Sleep Suichi...I...must..///
The steely voice of Yoko Kurama spoke to his brain.
"No, the mission's too important. I need to be aware!" Kurama fought back.
///Nonsense...I'll be aware, let me out...I must run through my homeland once more!//
The fox screamed showing unusual emotion.
"Ahh..gh.." The red head choked as his eyes glazed white, as his hair changed silver. Two velvety ears and a long tail emerged, and soon Yoko Kurama was standing caressing the Bohdi tree.
"This strange well demon, Honekui...it has taken me back to my own time. I don't even care how...but, why? Why do I feel so, strange...tired..." Yoko slumped forward to his knees, face staring at the ground in a daze.

//Damnit!//
A female figure in the air on a large feather mentally shouted.
//It took me forever to hide all that Foxbane! I was trying to lure that Shippo one out, not some bishonen! We need a little leverage against Inuyasha...Aghh!//
She gritted her teeth and flew away, a cloud of Saimyosho behind her.

"Uh guys? Where is Kurama?" Kuwabara asked turning around.
"Come to think of it...I haven't heard him since we left the well." Yusuke stopped, lighting a Cupid Super Heavy cigarette.
"You think he passed us?"
"Nah, I'm pretty sure something bad happened, always does." He turned around heading back.

"C-can't...move..." Yoko tried to talk. He was now laying on his stomach on the ground. He found breathing very hard. A sweet sickening smell was choking him.
///KUSO! Of course. Foxbane.///
He said mentally opening his eyes.
///But, who could have known...Known? Known what?...Huh?///
It was now becoming hard for the Kitsune to think. All his praised calm was drifting away into blankness and confusion.
"Hey you?" A girls voice called out. "Hey?"
Yoko tried to open his eyes but he couldn't...then black.
