The Spirit's Way

Well, this is my second fanfic. Sigh, I guess my first one didn’t hit off with the rest of AFF.net. I shall try to make this one better!

Summary- A YYH Fanfic- Yusuke makes Koenma angry enough to transfer his soul out of his body and replace it with someone else’s- a hidden demon girls! What will the gang do? How will Koenma fix this if her soul is unable to come out? What will happen if she falls for two of Yusuke’s friends? What will they do if they fall for her? Ruki/ Hiei/ Kurama, no Yaoi, sorry I just don’t like writing those kinds of stories; I don’t even like reading them. ^^;

Disclaimer- No own YYH, just Ruki.

The Spirit’s Way

Chapter 1- WTF?

Koenma sat looking very displeased. He was now in his toddler form and was, at the moment, completely out of energy. A woman had come to him, dead of course, and demanded that he put her back, alive. So, here he was verbally sparring with her and his spirit detective, Yusuke Urameshi. Yusuke was royally pissed at his current case and was taking out his anger on the demi- god. The girl- her name was Ruki he noted- wanted to be alive again and was screaming at him and Yusuke. The spirit detective was, of course, screaming back at her. And they were giving him a headache.

He sighed and finally summoned enough energy to return to his teenager form. He sighed again and stood up and yelled, “SHUT UP!” The silence was deafening. “Look, Ruki, I’ll deal with you later. Yusuke, I don’t care if you don’t, as you so put it, “give a flying fart in space,” on you’re new mission. Think of it as a… new experience. Call me when you have finished.” Koenma closed the communicator and faced Ruki. “You are DEAD. There is no other way around it. I can’t give everybody a second chance. It wouldn’t be right. And if I allowed you to go back, you’d have to be special. Are you special enough?” Koenma couldn’t help but taunt the woman.

She snarled at him and pounded a fist on the table, scattering his papers all over the floor. He grew dazed at the now sharpened claws that raked the soft wood. She shoved a face in the Prince of the Makai’s face. “Yeah, I think I am. Now, you have two choices, short stuff. You can put me back in the Ningenkai, alive. Or I can kill you and you can be a permanent resident of Makai. Your choice.” Her blue eyes were alight with angry fire. “Choose, Koenma!”

The Prince sighed again, and using a bit of energy, fired straight at her face. He smirked as she fell back, cold, ‘Weakling. Geeze, hated to piss on her parade, but she really thought she could have killed me?’ He looked to his communicator that showed everything that went on in the Ningenkai. He knew mostly what happened daily in the Human Realm. The Ningenkai was a lot harder to take care of than he first thought and nearly as much trouble as Rekai. ‘Why did I get myself into these things?’ Koenma thought this drearily as he transformed back into his toddler stage. He called George, the Ogre, and he pulled the unconscious woman onto his shoulder. “George, transport her into a waiting room and lock the door. Yusuke and his team will be arriving soon.” George nodded and walked out of the room, leaving the demi- god to himself to wait out Botan and her guests.

Two Hours Later

Koenma was furious. He was in the middle of a huge stack of paperwork from that meddlesome girl and Botan and Yusuke and his team had finally arrived. He snarled as his spirit detective who was screaming at him and demanded that he get a piece of that annoying girl that he had yelled at. Yusuke snapped his mouth shut at the deep growl that accompanied the snarl. “Geeze, Pacifier- boy, what’s got your diaper in wad?”

“Yusuke, shove it alright. I am this close,” he measured the distance, “of taking back your life and giving it to that annoying girl. Then what would you do? You’d be a permanent fucking resident of the Makai.” The little group stood shocked at him. He never cursed at this level. He inwardly grimaced. He had a right to be furious. They interrupt him, yell at him, and make demands of him that he would be unable to fulfill. He held up one furiously glowing finger, reverted to his teenaged state and muttered, “Do not say another word, dammit. Botan, take them to the waiting room. I will send for you. Until then. If you leave that room, get into a fight in that room, or do something wrong in that room, the next time we meet, your life will be forfeit.” He was now in the spirit- detective’s face now, his pacifier touching Yusuke’s mouth every time he spoke. “Do you understand?”

He watched in satisfaction as Yusuke nodded dumbly. He motioned Botan and the ferry girl left. He sighed and bent down again and got back to work.

“Geeze, what’s with Koenma?” Yusuke muttered as Botan led them through the hallways to the nearest waiting room. “I’ve never heard him curse like that before. It kinda freaked me out.” The ferry girl sighed as she turned a corner and paused in front of a set of double doors before speaking.

“Yusuke, Koenma-sama is currently under a lot of stress right now. You yelling at him and the other girl screaming at him just made it worse. If you would have just done your job, Koenma-sama would not have yelled at us and would not be in such a bad mood. She eyed the arrogant boy before poking her head inside the door. The only resident- Ruki- was currently crouched in a corner cage and asleep. “Alright, in here everyone. This is where you’ll be staying until Koenma-sama calls you.” She waited until every one was in the room before shutting it and getting on with her day.

“Well, Urameshi, what do ya think Koenma’s gonna do?” Kuwabara asked quietly as the four of them sat down against the walls. To say the least, Kuwabara was confused about the whole situation and even more confused about the sparring Yusuke had with the girl he told them about. Yusuke never sparred with a girl unless they really pissed him off, Kuwabara knew this much. He sighed and waited for his answer.

“Yes, Yusuke, enlighten us.” Yusuke looked up at Kurama’s question. He’d nearly been asleep. He looked to Kuwabara, then Kurama, and finally Hiei. They were all looking at him expectantly. Baffled, he shrugged.

“It’s… you!”

“What the hell?” Yusuke looked beside him to the girl, the one he’d so desperately wanted a piece of, was locked in a cage just across the room. “You! I’ve so wanted to get a piece of you! You really pissed me off!” He snarled and got up and crouched in front of the cage. “I think I’ll hit you now.” He smirked and snaking his hand inside the cage, smacked her face. She gasped, and in the shadows of the cage, fumbled and grabbed his wrist, and then yanked his body against the bars of the cage. “ITAI! ITAI! KURO!” He yelped as she did it over and over again. She twisted his arm and leaned into the light, giving his friends a good look at her face, putting her face against the bars near his ear.

“Listen up, bitch,” she purred. He stiffened at the insinuation that was in her voice. “You wanted a piece of me, and you got it. Now, I don’t think ‘Tiny’ is gonna be too happy about this. So I suggest, Bitch, that you go sit down and shut up.” She slid her hand through the bars and shoved him away. “Now, wrench.” She snarled and sat back in the shadows. He sat there a second, scrambling for a comeback.

“I think you’re outclassed on this one.” Hiei chuckled as he watched Yusuke think of something to say. ‘Finally,’ he thought as he watched the spirit detective give up and scramble over to his seat. He sneaked himself over and crouched in front of the cage. “Who are you, demon?” He asked softly. He didn’t want to frighten her. He and Kurama had been discussing her, mentally of course, and what type of demon she could be. Her Youki was interesting.

She opened her eyes and he was instantly caught in a sapphire blue gaze. She crawled forward and out into the light again. She seemed to be… He couldn’t tell. Hiei flicked a glance towards the Fox who was lounging deceptively against the wall. Kurama caught the gaze and walked over and crouched beside Hiei. Kurama’s eyes widened slightly as he got his first look. Hiei smirked and was glad that he wasn’t the only one who was entranced by the sapphire eyes. “I’m Ruki. I’m a mixed demon.”

Hiei smiled at her slightly, “So am I. I am a half Fire, half Ice demon.” Her eyes widened at his revelation.

She smiled, “I’m as drastic as you are. I am half Neko, half Inu demon. How long have you and your fox friend been dead?”

“We’re not dead, though we have died. Koenma brought us back to life to assist his spirit detective, Yusuke Urameshi in his problems.” He nodded towards Yusuke.

She snorted, “Well that must suck. I’ve been dead for a while. Nearly,” she frowned and paused. She held up her fingers and counted for a moment, “Nearly 600 years. But I was nearly twice as old as that before I died.” Hiei and Kurama were flabbergasted. “How old are you? You don’t look very old. Older than a pup or a cub, I would say.” She looked eager to learn of their ages.

Kurama cleared his throat. It was his and Yoko’s turn. “I am only 18 years of age. However, Yoko is nearly 1000 years old. Yoko’s soul is inside me.”

“Yoko, as in Yoko Kurama? Kurama, as in Yoko Kurama? Holy Crap! It’s an honor to meet you. Your name is plaster all over Rekai and Makai. I could get nearly 10 billion yen for you.” She grinned at his expression of disgust, “But I won’t. You seem to be friends with… um…” Kurama grinned.

“Hiei. His name is Hiei.” Kurama supplied.

She blushed prettily and smiled at them again, “Hiei. Are you?” It seemed she was not going to give up on her question. Kurama would have to answer.

“I am. He helped me understand what was going on with me when I realized Yoko was real and a part of me. He realized who I was and trained me.” Kurama smiled at Hiei’s disgruntled expression. “He is quite old, not old enough to have known Yoko, but old enough to have heard of him before he died.”

“I am only 350 years of age(is that Right??). You know Youkai hold their age well.” Hiei muttered. Ruki and Kurama laughed as he tinged pink. He shot a glare at them before it instantly softened. ‘I’m getting soft, if she can effect me so.’ The only person to effect him like this was his sister Yukina. “What about you two? You are older than me and yet you look my age.” He smirked at their glares.

“Well, now I must wait until Botan releases me so I can go yell at Koenma.” She let out a little growl. “Stupid Pacifier- breath. I really want to hit him into submission.” Ruki snorted, “I am sick of being dead.”

Kurama chuckled. He was beginning to like this girl. Yoko was as well which oddly shocked him. Hiei, listening in to the Fox’s thoughts, was shocked as well. {Well what do you think, fox?} Hiei asked. He felt a little bit of jealousy but quickly squashed the idea. He had no idea of her feelings, and was unable to question her about them, nor Kurama was unable to answer him as Koenma came storming in, fully enraged and in his teenaged form.

He came over towards the three of them and squatted down in front of Hiei, effectively blocking her from his view. “By your record, you are not up to going back into the Ningenkai for quite a while. You will not reincarnate for nearly 300 years more.” He said this in a low voice. “Do you understand? I, however, am going to put you back somewhere.” He looked pointedly at her frown, “the Makai.”

A/N: YAY! The first chappy is done! I’m so glad; it took me forever to get this chapter done. Basically I’m in the process of writing and thinking of a story line to go along with it. I’m thinking of making it PWP with a Lemon in one of the next few chapters. I need advice though, so that means reviews if you have any ideas. I wasn't sure on their ages, I do know that Yoko is a few centuries, but I'm not sure how much. As for Hiei, I jsut guessed.

^^;; Thanks and review! Chickadee01
