Chapter 1: Beginnings
The day was hot and humid, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, and Yusuke was sitting around in the grassy area in the Spirit World. Yusuke sighed and stretched. "Man I love being on breaks." Hiei smirked. "Yeah, pacifier breath never wants us to have fun. Nothing but work, work, work." Kurama raised an eyebrow. "He's just doing his job." Kuwabara made a face. "Pffft! I think he's on a power trip or just being a dickhead!" They laughed except Kurama who smiled and shook his head.
"I see your having fun at my expense." They all jumped and turned around. Koenma was in his adult form and looked pissed. "Well yea, I mean you got to admit you get rather demanding." Yusuke pointed out. "Well if you don't like me then leave. If you can't handle your job then you don't deserve to be a Spirit Detective."
Yusuke and the others got up. "Whoa! Don't get go upset. We're just kidding." They agreed. *They're lying to you, you know that.* Koenma was torn and sucked on his pacifier, then squinted. "Your lying Yusuke." Kurama went over to him. "Koenma, calm down. We're all sorry. No one meant any of it." Hiei rolled his eyes but remained silent. Koenma didn't know what to think. *That pretty boy is making it up to save his ass!* Koenma bit his lips around the pacifier. 'Oh shut up! Just go to sleep already!' The voice was gone and he relaxed. "I'll be in the castle." Hiei snorted. "And what's you order for us? Your infant Majesty?"
Koenma backhanded him, and Hiei fell stunned. y doy don't you fuck off and die!" Kuwabara scooted. "Hey…" Kurama shot them evil looks and walked with Koenma. He was trying to calm him down. When they were no longer visible Hiei got up and wiped his lip. "Man someone has PMS." Yusuke didn't like what he felt from Koenma. 'Was that dark spirit energy? Nah, probably just seemed that way because he's steamed.' Yusuke felt the guilt knag at him.
"Hey, I'm going to apologize." Hiei didn't like that. "Why should you? He's the baby here." Yusuke narrowed his eyes. "Shut up Hiei. I'm going." Kuwabara ran after him. "I'm coming too." Hiei stared at their backs. "Fucking idiots. They fall just because their feelings get to them. Fools." He went away and wanted to be left alone.
Yusuke and Kuwabara caught up to Kurama and Koenma. "Dude I really am sorry. I hope you forgive us." Yusuke looked hopeful and Kuwabara waited. "For now, except Hiei he can lay and die in his own shit for all I care." Yusuke's eyes went big. "Okay. Is everything ok? Ever since Genkai died you've been acting…well strange." Koenma shook his head. "I'm fine. Nothing's wrong." The voice laughed. *Yeah. We've been fine since mother died all those years ago. Since daddy took a liking to beating us and making us his whore! They don't know shit!* Koenma nodded. "Your right."
Kurama looked at him. "What? Right about what?" Koenma shook his head. "Oh nothing. Nothing at all." They walked the rest of the way to the castle and entered. "Are you sure your okay?" Kuwabara asked with a suspicious look. "Yes I'm fine, so stop asking." Kuwabara raised his hands. "Okay, I'm just wondering. I know we all miss Genkai but you don't have to take it out on everyone else." Koenma nodded. "I'm truly sorry." Yusuke put an arm behind his back and grinned. "It's alright." Koenma stopped. "I must get back to the office." He walked down the hallway.
Yusuke sighed and bent forward. "Kurama what's wrong with him?" He shrugged and leaned against the wall. "I'm not sure, but even before Genkai died he got into weird moods. Remember when he kicked you? Threatened Kuwabara?" Yusuke nodded. "Yes. I think he just has a bad temper you know a short fuse." Kuwabara smiled. "Or he's spoiled." Yusuke and Kurama told him to shut up. Yusuke and Kuwabara continued to argue and Kurama sweat dropped.
Koenma was stamping papers when Botan walked in. "Hey how are you doing?" Koenma gave an irritated look. "What do you think?" Botan leaned on his desk. "Oooh, someone needs a nap!" She giggled and Koenma's eye twitched. *Take her. We haven't been with a women or anybody for so long. Make her beg! Make her cry!* Koenma smirked dangerously and Botan backed away. "Oh I just remembered I forgot something." She ran out and he laughed.
*Next time we should give it to her. Fuck her with no mercy! Wouldn't that feel good?* Koenma smiled. "Maybe, but she's my friend." The voice came from the corner of his office. Out of the shadows walked himself. *Yeah but you could have a friendship with privileges.* Koenma smiled evil. "Sure I think I deserve it." Other Koenma reflected the same smile. The two laughed but only one could be heard.
