Dannigurl: Hey everyone, its time for Chapter 9. I feel like the story has lost interest for many readers and I wouldn’t want to bore and torture anyone any longer, so please tell me if I should continue or not. I would like to say thank you to everyone who reviewed my last chapter for their support. This story is about to wrap up soon…maybe be a few more chapters but not past 15. I guess that’s it…hopefully this chapter doesn’t disappoint.
A SHATTERED HEART
Yusuke Urameshi felt weak and tired. He had never experienced anything as painful as what he went through minutes ago. It was worse than his fiercest battle and he just wanted to run into the arms of his awaiting lover.
It had pained him more than he could have imagined to tell Keiko that it was over between them. But it was something that had to be done. He had told Keiko that he loved her and that was true. He loved her but he wasn’t “in love” with her. She wasn’t the air that he breathed or every beat of his heart.
Yusuke knew that the way he felt was only supposed to happen in the movies but he was fortunate that it had happened to him. He had found the other half of his soul and the one person that could complete him. Kurama pushed him to greater levels, always making him challenge himself.
Kurama was smart, handsome to the point of beauty, compassionate, loyal, trustworthy, confident and the list continues endlessly. Yusuke believed that without Kurama his life would be meaningless because Kurama was the only reason Yusuke wakes up to the everyday disasters that only seem to happen to him. To say that he felt blessed and the luckiest person in the world would be an understatement.
With thoughts of Kurama floating aimlessly in his mind, Yusuke smiled and sped up just a little. He couldn’t wait to go back into his lover’s arms. He remembered what they had started before he had left and he couldn’t wait to continue.
He had a feeling that this time would be even better than before because now there were no secrets between them and no one in between them. Images of the endless possibilities entered his mind he decided to run the last few blocks to Kurama’s house. Patience was never one of his strong points.
When he reached the house Yusuke used his key to Kurama’s house to get inside. Not hearing any sounds of movement downstairs, he climbed the stairs two at a time in his eagerness to finish what they had started just a while ago. He opened Kurama’s bedroom door and peeked inside. He didn’t want to wake Kurama if he was sleeping.
The “Yusuke” in Kurama’s bed stirred as silent warning bells went off, signaling that the real Yusuke had arrived. *Just in time.* The figure in the bed rippled and was immediately transformed into an identical replica of Hiei. A smile that would have sent the devil scurrying with his tail between his legs appeared on the lips of “Hiei”. The smile was carefully hidden as “Hiei” went back to “sleep”.
Seeing his lover’s form under the covers, Yusuke walked quietly to side of the bed and pulled the covers back. He stopped, didn’t move a muscle. Yusuke blinked his eyes rapidly, trying to change the image that his mind was seeing. *No. No. No. No. No. Never. It couldn’t be.*
Yusuke backed away from the offensive scene in front of him. He suddenly felt a stabbing pain where his heart was only a few seconds ago. He looked at Kurama, the man that he loves and who he thought loved him and only felt more pain than before.
Kurama’s hair was fanned out around his head like a crimson halo, a stark contrast to the white sheets and pillows. On his face he wore a serene smile, the smile of a man that had just made love to his soul mate. The smile that he always had whenever he made love to Yusuke. Until now. On his neck were numerous tiny red marks that were the symbol of his lover’s claim on him.
The dark haired spirit detective watched on in growing anger as Kurama snuggled closer to “his lover” and as he gave an unconscious purr in his sleep. It was hurtful enough that Kurama had cheated on him but what turned the knife in Yusuke’s heart sideways was the fact that it had been Hiei who had helped to destroy everything that he had ever wanted.
As Yusuke’s power level continued to rise to an all time high, the air began to have an ominous feel. His aura had changed from a light blue to a midnight black, which was never a good sign. To say that he was pissed would be the understatement of their lifetime.
Kurama jerked away as he felt the presence of danger. As heavy eyelids lifted, he experienced a moment of disorientation. The last thing he remembered was talking to Hiei, drinking that new tea, becoming dizzy and then seeing Yusuke’s face. Everything after that was a blur….except that he remembered Yusuke taking him before he fell asleep.
Kurama eyes traveled to the place where the sense of danger seemed to be strongest and was surprised to see that it was coming from Yusuke. He silently observed Yusuke’s defensive stance and the black aura around and immediately knew that something was wrong. Something else caught his attention. Yusuke was standing as far as he could possibly be away from the bed and he was fully clothed, and yet Kurama felt a warm body pressing against him.
Glancing towards the form next to him a bit apprehensively, Kurama couldn’t help the widening of his eyes as he saw Hiei lying next to him absolutely devoid of clothing. Shocked green eyes swung to thunderous brown ones. Kurama got off the bed and winced in pain as he tried to walk towards Yusuke. He stopped and took a minute to let the pain in his ass abate just a little. He knew from previous experience that his ass was torn.
“Yusuke, I….” Kurama trailed off, not knowing what to say to Yusuke because he didn’t know what was going on himself.
“I? I what Kurama?” Yusuke said in a tone that was cold enough to make the North Pole look like Hawaii. “I’m sorry Yusuke, I didn’t mean to fuck my best friend? I didn’t mean to catch me after I fucked my best friend? I’m sorry that you found out Yusuke? Is that what you wanted to say Kurama?” During Yusuke’s heated questioning, “Hiei” had awakened and had a somewhat amused smile on his face.
“Yusuke, let me explain.” Immediately upon hearing this Yusuke’s eyes softened and so did his voice.
“Kurama…..please tell me that there is something else going on here. Please tell me that there is more to what I’m seeing. Please….I’m begging you…..please tell me that you didn’t sleep with *him*” His eyes darting to the upright Hiei sitting on the bed. “That’s all you need to tell me. Tell me that he took advantage of you….tell me something. Anything.”
“Yusuke…..I,” Kurama closed his eyes, not wishing the pain, anger and coldness that would be in Yusuke’s eyes. “I did sleep with him…” Hearing Yusuke’s sharp intake of breath, he rushed on “But it meant nothing to me. I know how bad that sounds but I love you and only you…I don’t know what happened. Please Yusuke try to understand. Please give me a second chance.”
Yusuke gazed into green orbs filled with sadness and felt his heart turn into a block of ice. “I can’t forgive this Kurama. Anything but…this. If you loved me you wouldn’t do this shit to me. You don’t give a fuck about me and I clearly was just a daily fuck to you. There is no second chance Kurama. You made your choice when you fucked him and it wasn’t me. As far as I am concerned, loving you was a mistake. I don’t know you. You’re dead to me.”
With finality in his words Yusuke left the room, heading toward stairs and then the front door. He ignored the tears streaming down Kurama’s face, his repeated shouts and pleading for him to come back. He nor Kurama heard “Hiei’s” chuckle or his final comment of “My work here is done…time to make myself scarce before either one of them figure it out” and with that he nimbly jumped out of the window.
Kurama snapped out of his shocked stance and ran after the retreating spirit detective. He caught up with him as he was going through the door and grabbed his arm. He tried not to grimace as if in physical pain but failed miserably when Yusuke ripped his hand away from him forcefully.
“Don’t you ever….*ever* fucking touch me again Kurama! You lost that right when you stuck your cock in Hiei.” Yusuke turned and walked down the small flight of stairs. Stopping and looking back when he was on the sidewalk he commented, almost to himself, “You know what the sad thing is? I still love you and I actually thought that something would go right for once and that we would be together for the rest of our lives. How foolish of me.” Without another backward glance, Yusuke disappeared around the corner and out of sight.
Feeling the most depressed, confused, hurt and tormented that he had ever felt in his life, Kurama slowly closed the door and climbed gingerly up the stairs. He looked at bed that represented his indiscretion. The blood-soaked stains, the torn sheets and the general chaos of the room made Kurama furious. *How could this have happened? How could I do that to him? To us?*
Extracting his rose whip, Kurama took his anger out on the room, slashing deep scratches into the walls, breaking everything that could be broken and damaged the bed into a huge mound of dust and debris. Slumping slowly toward the floor, his head hidden between his knees, cried and cried until his very soul was weary. He had lost the one he had loved for so long in a matter of a few minutes and there was nothing that he could do to change that.
Hours passed with him in that very same position, his lifeless green eyes hidden from view. He didn’t see anything and didn’t want to see anything, so naturally he didn’t see the small red card with the black raven emblazed in the center, the only thing that seemed to survive the might of his wrath.
He didn’t know what he would do and neither did Yusuke who was walking aimlessly through the streets of the city. He saw nothing and heard no one. He had went to his house to find his mother in her normal drunken stupor and listened to nine messages that Keiko left, begging him to take her back. He had finally called her, telling her that he had made a mistake and he realized that he had really hurt her..
He walked by the cafe where he and Kurama were just a few hours ago and he caught sight of Evan, their waiter. Even in his distressed state he did notice how attractive the other boy was. Maybe there could be something there...... And he needed to take his mind off what happened, so what better way than to move on? He had to. Finally deciding that the only place that he would find some solace and peace would be if he was training with the old hag. She would know how to make him forget. And that’s exactly what he wanted to do…..forget.

dannigurl’s note:
For anyone who was wondering why Yusuke didn’t use his key to Kurama’s house in the previous chapter it’s because he didn’t want to upset Kurama anymore by showing that he could come into his home anytime he wanted. So that’s the explanation just in case anyone wanted to know. And I know that it was out of character for Yusuke not to kick "Hiei's" ass but I don't know how to describe a fight scene. lol sorry peoples. Oh yea….PLEASE REVIEW Give me more reviews.!
