General A/N: I don’t own the characters or show. I’m bad at editing, if I do it at all, so there will most likely be errors. I’m updating chapter by chapter so I’m not sure how often I’ll update, but I’ll try to make it soon. And lastly this story is told by Hiei’s POV.

Be warned: I hate this part. It didn’t come out the way it was in my head but I wanted to get it up tonight so I’m sticking with it. Hope you guys like it.

Eternal Darkness
Part 9: Misunderstanding

Ravenx

Honestly, I forgot. I forgot all about drinking from that man in the alley before I came over to Kurama’s. Therefore, I forgot to tell him.

Now that I’m sitting in the passenger seat of his car, I remember. I feel like I need to tell him now before…well I’m not sure before what. I just have this feeling that he needs to be told now. I can tell we still have several minutes before we reach the designated training area.

“Kurama, there’s something I need to tell you.”

“What is it?” He keeps his eyes on the road.

“There’s something about being a vampire that you didn’t ask about. I think you should know about it though. About what vampires have to drink.” I waited for a moment, hoping he would bring up the word.

“Oh, you mean blood?” He looks at me for a moment out of the corner of his eye.

“Yeah.” I take a deep breath. “I have to have blood to survive. But it’s not like I need it every day, just every couple of weeks.”

“Ningen or animal?” His voice is low, barely hearable over the ningen music coming from the radio.

“Animal blood doesn’t really do anything for me, just make me want more blood.” I hope he understands this.

“So you feed off ningens.” He lets out a sigh.

“But not just any ningens. I knew it would upset you if I feed off innocents, so I just go after the evil ningens. The ones that your police have not gotten. Rapists, murders, ningens like that.” I wait patiently to see what his reaction is.

“So you never hurt innocents.” I nod. “And don’t because of me.” Another nod. Then he smiles. “I appreciate that you thought about what I think. And I understand that you need blood to survive and that it isn’t that often that you have to feed. Just as long as you continue only hunting down the bad people, I think I’m okay with it.”

He glances over at me with a smile before returning his eyes to the road. Okay he took that a lot better than I thought he would. I can’t believe he loves me enough to look the other way when I feed. I’m interrupted from my thoughts as the car stops and Kurama opens his door.

“Come on Hiei. We have to walk the rest of the way.”

I met up with him in front of the car. As we begin to walk into the woods I feel his hand take mine. I lace our fingers together and continue walking.

How am I suppose to tell the others? I never really thought about them. All that was important to me was my fox and how he would take the news. I honestly don’t care what the others think, but I know it is important to Kurama. They are his friends, he likes to be around them. For whatever reason I don’t know but I’ll try to break it easily for them.

All of a sudden he steps in front of me and bends down to my height.

“You know that what ever they say I still love you, right?”

“Yeah.” He gives me a kiss that makes me want to just take him right here and now. But he pulls back before I can reach for him and giggles.

“Maybe later.” He winks as we walk into a small clearing where Yusuke and Kuwabara are talking about something in a whisper. I remove my sweaty hand from Kurama and give him a small smile as he looks down at me worried.

He looks over to Yusuke. “Hey guys.”

“Man, I’m glad your finally here. We have to ta…” Yusuke stops talking as he turns and sees me. “What’s he doing here?” He sounds angry.

“I thought we could train together. Besides Hiei has…” Yusuke starts to speak.

“We don’t want him here.” Well, I wonder what made him so mad at me. Not that I really care.

“What do you mean? What’s wrong with you Yusuke?” Kurama seems to be getting a little angry himself.

Yusuke turns toward me. “To think we trusted you. To think we actually began to like you as part of the team. But you were just betraying us. How long has this been going on?”

What the hell is he talking about? But before I can speak my little fox does.

“What are you talking about Yusuke?”

“If I were you, Kurama, I’d move away before he kills you.” What? I would never hurt Kurama. Yusuke looks directly at me. “I saw you. In the alley. You killed that man.”

Oh man. I knew I felt someone there. And it just had to be the spirit detective. Kurama looked at me for a moment before turning back to Yusuke.

“You don’t understand. He ha…”

“What don’t I understand? I saw him with my own two eyes. He killed that man. I thought you were good Hiei.” He chuckles. “I should of known someone like you couldn’t change.” My hand inches toward my katana. Kurama sees.

“Hiei.” Kurama whispers to me before going back to trying to talk to Yusuke. I don’t know why I’m not the one talking, oh wait maybe I do. I don’t care. But if the fox wants to continue to be friends with this guy then let him try.

“Yusuke please. You don’t understand why he did it.”

“Don’t tell me your sticking up for him. Kurama, I thought you were much better than that. How can you stand by something like that?”

Can I kill yet? How dare he speak to my fox like that. I let out a warning growl.

“What? You going to kill me next? I knew we shouldn’t of let you join the team. You’re probably just staying around until you get a chance to kill all of us. Is that it?” Not a bad idea at the moment.

“Yusuke!” I look over to see Kurama with his fists clenched at his sides. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him raise his voice like that. “Don’t speak about him like that. He had to kill that man to survive. If any one of us were in the same place as him so would we. We came here to tell y…”

“I would never do something like that.”
e eie either.” Finally the big baka has decided to stop cowardly hiding behind the detective.

“I can’t believe that you would betray us too, Kurama. I don’t want to see him,” He points at me. “Or you again. Unless it’s a mission where you too are ones we’re after.” With that he turns and begins to walk away. The orange haired baka follows.

“But Yusuke.” Kurama tries to call him back but they disappear into the woods. I can’t believe he has such a thick head that he won’t even listen to Kurama. I turn to start back toward the car but I’m stopped when Kurama places one of his hands on my shoulder.

“Hiei, I’m sorry they didn’t give us a chance to explain.”

“Hn.”

“Maybe after they cool down for a little while we can talk to them again.”

“Whatever.” He leans down and kisses me on the nose.

“Ai shiteru, Hiei.”

“Ai shiteru, kitsune.” He laces our fingers together as we walk back to the car.

A little side note: Remember there was a dumpster blocking the way when Hiei feed. So Yusuke didn’t see exactly what was going on. He just saw Hiei standing over a dead body with blood on him and he just jumped to conclusions.

Oh man. I have to go back to classes tomorrow! (Life sucks!!) So it will probably be closer toward the weekend when the next part is written and posted. I only have about four weeks left in this semester so I’m guessing writing and posted will come a little further apart. I’m expecting lots of test coming my way and I really want to pass all my classes. But don’t worry. This story will be continuing!

Remember to review. (Nobodies reviewed for my story The Room *sniffle* I think I might cry!!)

Ja ne!
