Life Goes On

Scene 83 ------------------------------------------- One hour Later

* Yusuke has been holding his bundled newborn son for a few moments as everyone waits to see if Hiei will regain consciousness. Ryuji is still hibernating on the gurney beside his brother, recovering from the blood he donated to him. Yukina is in a far corner nursing her newborn son as discreetly as she can, although she has little to worry about as nearly everyone has their attention on Hiei, except Koenma. The Teen Prince keeps pacing over to glance down at her fuzzy, blue-haired son then back to inspect the black-tufted baby Yusuke is holding. As Yusuke looks away to avoid snapping at Koenma's aggravating behaviour he now notices that Kurama is missing. Before he can question, though, a moan draws his attention back to the table. Yusuke hurries over and leans to stroke his mate's dampened spikes as he begins to squirm, trying to wake up.


Yusuke- (Quietly) Shh, take your time, Babe.. You're safe.. Our baby's fine.


* Hiei settles down and slowly comes up out of his hibernation. When he finally opens his eyes the first thing he sees is Yusuke's smiling, relieved face.


Yusuke- Oh thank Enma.. You're going to be okay, Hiei..


* Hiei's annoyed grunt turns into a groan when he tries to shift on the table.


Hiei- Uhh.. d---.. I feel like.. s---..


* Yusuke chuckles and Hiei looks toward him again. He now notices the bundle in his arms and reaches one of his hands out for it.


Hiei- (Wearily) My son.. Give him to me.. He's hungry..


* Carefully, yusuke helps Hiei situate their tattooed son so he can nurse his first meal. Hiei ignores his sore body as he stares down at the tiny child. Dr. Moshin checks Hiei's monitors and gives a nod to Yusuke.


Dr. Moshin- His readings all look good, M'Lord. He'll need more rest, though.


* Yusuke nods.


Yusuke- I'll be sure he gets plenty of that, Doc.. Thank you for your hard work.


* Hiei glances over his shoulder toward his brother.


Hiei- How is he?

Yusuke- Our hero will be fine.


* Botan comes over to pat Yusuke on the shoulder.


Botan- Congratulations, Daddy.


* Yusuke looks at Botan. She and Yukina had been very helpful in healing Hiei after the baby was safely removed.


Yusuke- Thanks.. Are you and Yukina okay?

Botan- Yes..

Yukina- I'm fine, Yusuke.


* Hiei's eyes widen at learning that his sister is there. He cranes his neck to look around Yusuke toward her.


Hiei- What are you..?


* The koorime falls silent when he notices Yukina shift her own son who has drifted back to sleep. When she looks toward him Hiei relaxes back to give his attention back to his own son. Yusuke feels his mate's nervousness and lays a hand on his shoulder.


Yusuke- (Quietly) It's okay.. Like I told you before, we'll deal with it.. I'm just glad that you're both okay.. You and our new son.


* Hiei looks back down at the baby as another nurse with a clipboard comes over.


Nurse- Might I record our newest Prince's name, Lord Hiei?

Hiei- I told Ryuji to tell you.. But I can see that he's a little preoccupied..


* Hiei glances back toward Ryuji again. Koenma comes over closer to hear the name.


Hiei- Our son's name is Tatsuya..(1)


* Yusuke and Hiei both look up at the Teen when he nearly chokes on his pacifier.


Koenma- Tatsuya?! That can't be..

Yusuke- All fire demons know the names of their babies before they're even born.. I learned this while doing my demonology studies..

Koenma- B-but his.. his name is supposed to be Kenkaku! (2)


* Hiei snarls up at the godling. Yukina now comes over to look up at the Teen curiously.


Yukina- Why would Hiei have two sons named that?


* Everyone looks down at Yukina. Since this is the first time any of them have seen her newborn, that she delivered at Genkai's temple with just Botan's help, none of them had had the time to inquire about her baby's name.


Koenma- What?

Yukina- That is the name he whispered to me a few weeks ago while I was meditating.. My son's name is Kenkaku.


* Koenma pales, glances at Yusuke, then brings a hand up to rub his forehead.


Koenma- (Mumbled) Bud is soo dead..

Yusuke- Hey, Junior..


* Yusuke now remembers the Prince's secret plans that he'd been told about a couple months ago. The Toushin glances down at his black-tufted son, notices that Tatsuya and Hiei have both slipped back to sleep, and lifts the baby away from his Papa carefully.


Yusuke- Are you telling me there was a mix-up?


* Yusuke glances down at Yukina fuzzy blue-headed baby and smirks as he looks back up at Koenma.


Yukina- Mix-up? This is my son..


* Koenma lays a hand on Yukina's arm to calm her down.


Koenma- Yes, Yukina. He is your son..


* Koenma follows Yusuke over to the crib. Botan and Yukina exchange looks then look down at Kenkaku. Yusuke settles Tatsuya down into the crib and makes sure he's comfortable.


Koenma- (Quietly) The stupid ogre in charge of my Reincarnation Department will be severely..


* Yusuke tilts his head at the angry godling.


Yusuke- (Whisper) Hey, drop it.. Look at this kid.. If he's not every bit our son I'm getting myself neutered..

Koenma- That's not the..

Yusuke- I wouldn't want a blue-haired kid, anyway..


* Yusuke turns to half glance toward Yukina nervously. She is now scowling toward them.


Yusuke- I only want you to do two things, Koenma.. First off, tell me where the h--- my other mate is. Secondly, you'd better explain this mess to Yukina before she goes Hiei on your a--.


* Koenma glances toward Yukina, then sighs.


Koenma- Fine.. Kurama's up in his den having the rest of your kids.. They'll be all boys this time, by the..


* Before Koenma can finish the sentence Yusuke has blinked out of the medical room. KOenma looks at Yukina quickly as he fishes out his portal remote.


Koenma- I promise I will explain everything to you, Yukina.. Right now I have to get up there and keep Yusuke from storming into Kurama's den.


* Koenma disappears into the portal leaving Botan and Yukina to stare at each other puzzled. Yukina then looks down at her son as she thinks about his name. Almost at the same time she and Botan both gasp and look at each other again. Botan thinks quickly and catches the ice maiden when she passes out.
