Scene 8 -------------- The Next Morning
* Hiei wakes to three familiar presences in his proximity. So he takes his time sifting through his memories. Yusuke, Koenma, and Kurama exchange glances but remain patient, waiting for Hiei to wake fully. When the Koorime finally sits up he keeps his eyes averted.
Hiei- I’ve made some.. stupid decisions in my life, but..
Koenma- This mistake wasn’t your fault. It was a mix-up on my ogres’ part that..
Hiei- Does it really matter?!
Koenma- In this case it does. Since it was on my part, so to speak, I’ve returned the baby’s soul to him.
* Hiei looks up at the Prince blinking in disbelief.
Koenma- Your mate Sarista seems to be a bit psychic.. She bundled the baby’s body up, but didn’t destroy it.. She said that she felt she had to keep him like that until we returned.
* Hiei looks away again then slowly nods.
Hiei- Hn.. ‘Ris is.. something else.. So what do I owe you?
* Koenma is silent until Hiei looks up at him again.
Koenma- Information.
* Yusuke and Kurama look up at the Teen curiously.
Koenma- I want to know your plans concerning Staci.. once she’s had her baby.
* Yusuke looks back at Hiei. Kurama looks at Yusuke.
Kurama- Staci?
Yusuke- She’s a Human girl that was kidnapped and brought here a long time ago. She was owned by the guy Hiei took out to get this pack.. D---, you’ve been out of the loop as bad as me.
Kurama- A Human?
* Kurama looks at Hiei puzzled.
Kurama- So what does..? Wait, she’s pregnant? To whom?
* Hiei grunts and stands from the bed.
Hiei- I have other things to attend to. I’m sure they’ll answer all your questions, Fox.
* He starts toward the door, but pauses next to Koenma.
Hiei(Quietly)- I’ll pay up later.
* Koenma sighs and lets Hiei leave. Yusuke stands from his chair.
Yusuke- Wait..! What if he takes off again and..?!
Koenma- He’s thinking more clearly now. Besides, the situation that caused his brief breakdown has been resolved.
* The room is silent for a moment.
Kurama- Who is that Human girl pregnant to?
* Yusuke and Koenma both look at Kurama, realizing that they’d explained everything to him concerning the others up in Spirit World, but had neglected to tell him about Staci. Koenma takes a deep breath and begins another of his long explanations.
