Scene 8
Scene 8 --------- Three Hours Later
* Youda finally hands Shishi’s newborn baby to one of his assistants.
Youda- Clean it, bunde it, and present it to its Sire.
* Another assistant hands Youda a damp cloth to swab his forehead. Kurama comes over to the bed. Shishi remains dazed.
Youda- You can remove the thorns now. May I use your bathroom to clean up, sir?
Kurama- Of course. Thank you, Youda.
* The short, elderly demon waves a hand modestly as he moves away. When Kurama removes all of the thorns and dispatches them Shishi begins to squirm and moan. The bundled, whimpering kit is brought over and offered to Kurama. He accepts the baby and watches its whimpering bring Shishi around even more. The blue-haired Samurai tries to sit up but Touya keeps him down.
Touya- Easy, you need to hibernate and heal..
Shishi- No. I need to hold my.. daughter.
* Shishi swallows and looks up at Kurama. The silver Fox feels his mate’s concern and smiles down at him.
Kurama- She’s beautiful, Shishi.. You know I wanted a girl.
Shishi- But not.. first.
* Shishi half glances toward Touya.
Kurama- It doesn’t matter. I’m naming her Shiori.. In honor of my late, human Mother.. Do you object to this?
Shishi- No. Of course not.
* Kurama nuzzles the squirming kit that’s covered in a damp, very fine, pale blue fuzz. He nibbles on one of her tiny pricked ears carefully then places her gently in Shishiwakamaru’s arms. He leans to give the weary Samurai a gentle kiss then straightens up to look toward Suzuka.
Kurama- Come see our new daughter, Suzuka.
* The blonde comes over as Youda comes back out of the bathroom.
Youda- Many blessings, Lord Kurama.
* Kurama nods then watches the medical staff all leave. When Yomi’s energy remains in the common room Kurama feels his hackles raise. Suzuka senses his Alpha’s tension and looks at him.
(#) Kurama- Stay in here. I’ll go deal with him.
* Kurama meets Suzuka’s eyes again. Shishi is too busy nursing his newborn to take much notice of anything else.
(#) Kurama- If I begin to fight you must get them out of here somehow.
* Suzuka gives a slight nod. Kurama lashes his tail and leaves the bedroom. When he steps foot into the common room Yomi stands from the couch stiffly.
Yomi- Congratulations, friend.. I just wanted to welcome Gandara’s newest.. citizen in person.
* Kurama’s mind quickly recalls the law that concerns anyone born within the chief city’s limits. Namely that they’re to remain within the city’s limits for the first full ten years of their lives and be schooled in the laws of Yomi’s Territory.
Kurama- Was it a mistake to..?
Yomi lowers his face with a saddened sigh.
Yomi- I admit now that I overreacted, Kurama. The mistake was mine.. We buried that old hatchet, but my actions today have only served to dig it back up.. I apologize.
* Just then a messenger hurries in.
Messenger- M’Lord, Lord Urameshi is at the Main Gate demanding entrance to see Lord Kurama.
* Kurama growls when Yomi looks toward him again.
Kurama- I did not summon him here!
Yomi- I know.. My son did.
* Kurama’s folded ears pitch forward.
Yomi- I’ll deal with Shura.
* Yomi turns to leave and hesitates beside the messenger.
Yomi- Give Lord Urameshi a formal escort here. He’s come to welcome our General’s new baby.
* Yomi and the messenger leave. Kurama relaxes, rubs his forehead, then goes back into the bedroom to put Suzuka and the others at ease.
