Hiei's Harem - Pt. 2 - Maintaining

Scene 8 --------------- Later That Day


* Hiei is still half covering Lily when he stirs awake again. He jerks up onto an elbow until he recalls what's kept him busy for most of the day. When he notices that Lily remains out cold beneath him he leans to nuzzle her neck. His nostrils take in still another change in her scent. He listens to his instincts as they whisper the meaning. He also becomes aware of Sarista being closer than any of the others. He raises his head again to look toward her. He studies Sarista as she leans against a large rock, glancing nervously toward him.


Hiei- You got something to say, you might as well say it, Woman.


* Sarista takes a deep, quiet breath, then goes over to sit down beside them. Hiei watches her lean to sniff Lily a moment. She then looks at him as she straightens up again.


Sarista- Congratulations.. again.


* Hiei sits up completely and smoothes out some of Lily's ebony strands as he answers.


Hiei- Hn.

Sarista- Well, this makes four of us.

Hiei- You didn't come over here to take a tally.


* Sarista looks at Hiei again. He watches her eyes roam over him. He feels the spike of pride in what he feels coming from her through their bond.


Sarista- You.. are going to be.. one h--- of an Alpha.

Hiei- I make it a point to never fail at anything I.. put my mind to.


* Sarista smiles catily.


Sarista- Have you, though?

Hiei- Have I what?

Sarista- Failed?


* Hiei looks away to scan over the rest of the pack, that are doing various activities or relaxing in the afternoon sun themselves.


Hiei- Hn.. A couple of times.


* Hiei takes note that Staci is off by herself in the lookout alcove. The Koorime makes a mental note to do some research about human females. A moment later he scowls to himself. Before he can chide himself any further Sarista breaks his concentration.


Sarista- You really have to go?


* He looks back up at her and nods.


Hiei- Hn.. I need to go head Mukuro off before she gets any closer.. Lily's plants have been doing a very good job so far.. Most of the lowlifes around here have got the message.


* He sits up fully to reclose his cloak as he continues.


Hiei- If anything does manage to slip through I'm pretty sure you'll burn their a--es to ash.

Sarista- I appreciate your confidence.


* Hiei looks away as another thought makes its way through his mind. He scrunches his brows in confusion. Sarista tilts her head.


Sarista- What?

Hiei- Will you accept me.. when I return?


* Hiei tilts his head back toward her, still showing his confusion.


Hiei- Why would I ask such a thing?


* Sarista smiles softly.


Sarista- Hiei, instincts are an enigma.. There isn't a demon alive that doesn't exhibit them at some point in their lives.. The higher the demon's class and intelligence, the less pronounced they are, of course.. As you've made us aware of earlier.

Hiei- Hn.. My jagan helped me keep my sanity.. again.. I refuse to become an animal like Gamock was.

Sarista- Before Demon World became so.. civilized.. it was a very primal place.. I can remember those rougher times just on the edges of my memory.

Hiei- You use your instincts to survive because of this area you've grown up in.. So has everyone else here.. Besides her, perhaps.


* Hiei jerks his head toward Staci. Sarista looks toward her.


Sarista- She's been extremely lucky.. Humans usually don't last very long in our World.

Hiei- She's had to endure a lot to survive this long.


* Sarista nods and looks back at Hiei.


Sarista- Perhaps this is why the rest of us are so protective of her.. But she is a part of our pack, too.

Hiei- Hn. You take care of her.. I have witnessed this.. But you still really don't understand her.. You haven't really befriended her.

Celestia- Befriend.. her?


* Hiei glances up at the Wolf hybrid who has come up behind him.


Celestia- Oh, gracious.. She's a human for Kami's sake.


* Hiei shakes his head with a smirk, sensing her words to be playful sarcasm. Celestia settles to sit down close behind him as she offers him an apple.


Celestia- I know you've worked up an appetite on the vixen.


* Hiei takes the apple and groans his answer as he leans to thank her with a kiss for her offering.


Hiei- Hhnnn.


* He then begins to eat the apple. Celestia begins to run her fingers through his soft, tousled spikes. Hiei finds that he enjoys the sensation and leans further back against her.


Celestia- When you see her apart like that.. its of her own desire.

Sarista- Yes.. She goes through these bouts of depression from time to time.

Hiei- Of course.. She's a human.. If I've learned anything about them, it's that they are.. emotional.


* Celestia nuzzles Hiei's neck. He readily tilts his head to allow her more access.


Celestia- Lily had you pretty emotional most of the day.


* Hiei grunts and rolls his eyes.


Hiei- That wasn't emotions.. It was lust.. Demons aren't subject to such stupid things as.. emotions.


* Celestia and Sarista both snort with amusement at Hiei's indignance. The Koorime then looks at Sarista again. Celestia returns to nuzzling him.


Hiei- You.. didn't answer my question.

Sarista- Question?

Hiei- Why would I ask that?

Sarista- Oh. I thought I did.

Hiei- Then elaborate, Woman.


* Hiei half glances toward the Wolf hybrid and growls when she nips at his earlobe. Celestia smirks back at him.


Sarista- If the younger males over there were ambitious..


* Hiei looks toward the boys to try to ignore Celestia's tempting seduction. They are playing a rather raucas game of cards.


Sarista- Or didn't respect you as they do.. They wouldn't waste any time claiming us in your absence.. This is why most Alphas never leave their packs.. They would skirmish amongst themselves first, of course.. Then whichever one wins would take his opportunity..

Celestia- But that fight would only take place between your sons, Mistress. You know that my pregnant son wouldn't fight.


* Hiei rolls his eyes when the two females hiss and growl at each other. Then he realizes that they are both becoming affected by his renewing arousal.


Hiei- Why don't the two of you go put your energy to better use?


* He squirms away from Celestia and stands, tossing the apple core away.


Hiei- Go get the evening meal started. I'll be sleeping early tonight so I can get an early start in the morning.


* He watches the two females shoot final glares at each other, but then they set their hostilities aside. When they move off toward the cooking area Hiei makes his way across the clearing. He pauses a moment to check D'Tara who is laying in Lily's vine hammock. She half glances up at him, but gives no other indication of his presence.


Hiei- You want to go help them prepare dinner, 'Tara?


* When she shakes her head Hiei sighs quietly, but gives the swing a slight push so it'll sway gently with her.


Hiei- Okay. You relax, then.


* He glances toward Staci again as he continues walking. When he pauses next near the flat rock where the boys are they all glance up at him. Silis and Gamaru growl when Troiyoku wins the current hand. Gamaru feels Hiei's eyes on him and looks up.


Gamaru- What?

Hiei- I'm going away for a few days.

Gamaru- You already told us that.

Hiei- I expect for everything to be as I left it when I return.


* Troi and Silis quiet as they watch Hiei and Gamaru study each other.


Hiei- There are now four pregnant here.. One, of which, is your own Mother.

Gamaru- No s---.

Hiei- Protect them as you should.. But understand that if you get out of line I will deal with you when I return.. Do you understand me?

Gamaru- Yeah.. I think I do.


* Hiei's jagan glows a moment, then he moves away from them. He goes over and settles down beside Staci. Troiyoku and Silis glance at Gamaru. They practice their developing skills of telepathy as they continue the card game.


(#) Troiyoku- His third eye tells him everything.

(#) Gamaru- What do you think he's suspecious of?


* Silis rolls his eyes then looks at Gamaru.


(#) Silis- You really can be a bonehead, Gam.


* Gamaru growls and throws one of his cards at Silis.


(#) Gamaru- As much as you can't help being an idiot sometimes!


* Silis laughs, gathers up the card, then slams his cards down and howls victoriously. This time it's Troi and Gam's turn to grumble about losing. None of the busy pack take much notice when Hiei helps Staci up and they walk off together into the woods.
