Shura's Quest - A New Situation

Scene 8 ------------------------------------------- The Main Councilroom

* When Shura leads Youda and Mukakai in he raises a hand in a half-interested greeting to the small floating imp that's waiting inside.


Shura- Yo.

Yahushi- M'Lord.


* Shura continues on past the bowing imp and scrambles up into the large chair at the head of the table. Youda glances over his shoulder at Mukakai who shrugs. When Shura is settled in and comfortable he looks toward the imp again.


Shura- Okay, Yahushi. Show us what ya got.


* Yahushi lifts a glowing disc with an excited flourish.


Yahushi- This, my most honorable Lord, is the latest in Spy Imp technology!


* Shura sighs boredly and leans on an arm as the imp continues proudly.


Yahushi- It gathers everything my own eyes have seen and can be viewed on any Demon Video Disk player..

Shura- Spare us the boring hype, imp. Just show us what you've gathered.


* The imp moans slightly at being unable to impress the young ruler. Shura motions to Mukakai.


Shura- Give him the disk and he'll play it for us.


* Mukakai goes over to take the tiny disk, but the imp shields it from him.


Yahushi- No! You can't handle it!

Shura- Oh just show him where to put it, then.. Good grief, why am I surrounded by such idiots?


* Mukakai and Yahushi both glance toward the boy, then the imp follows the general over to the far wall. Mukakai presses a button to reveal the media center. When the general opens the disk tray Yahushi carefully places the tiny disk on it.


Mukakai- Hmm, looks like it's too tiny to..


* Yahushi snorts, taps the center of the disk and smirks up at the general when the glowing disk expands to fit the tray. Mukakai just rolls his eyes and closes the tray. Yahushi now looks the system over.


Yahushi- Oh, yes, very high quality, indeed.

Shura- Of course. I am going to be the ruler of all Demon World, of course I would have only the best.


* Yahushi turns and bows again.


Yahushi- But, of course.. I'm sure you will remember this lowly imp that..

Shura- Show us the information!


* Yahushi looks back up at Mukakai.


Yahushi- If you would be so kind, general.


* Yahushi flits back to hover beside Shura as Mukakai presses the play button.


Yahushi- I got the closest shots I could.. With the Mazoku being there I didn't want to risk being detected. but I think you will be impressed by what I got, M'Lord.. Now, the sound won't be very good.. We're still working on that..

Shura- Shut up so I can listen then!


* Everyone watches as the footage begins playing. For the first few moments the video is too shaky to make out much. Then finally the view stabilizes and focuses on the first demon: Shishiwakamaru.


Yahushi- Okay. This one is a blue-haired demon.


* Shura looks at the imp.


Shura- I can see that. What's his name?

Yahushi- I'm not.. familiar with him..

Shura- What are his powers?


* The imp hesitates, then answers nervously.


Yahushi- He showed none, M'Lord.


* The next close-up is of Touya.


Yahushi- Same for this one.. He does seem to be extremely.. quiet..


* Youda again glances carefully up at Mukakai. The general has raised his hand to hide his grin. The next close-up is of Suzuki.


Yahushi- This one seems to be pretrty strong.. Watch how easily he gathers the firewood with these other two.


* The scene pulls back to show Suzuki, Clint, and Kuwabara gathering firewood. Shura looks at the imp.


Yahushi- Ah! And there is the Mazoku!


* Yusuke comes over to use a small burst of his energy to ignite the wood. Yusuke then cracks up laughing when Kuwabara jerks backward and falls onto his rear. The big redhead had just been leaning to situate one of the logs. Touya quickly uses a burst of frost to put Kuwabara's burning bangs out when the human yells. Yahushi laughs until he notices Shura beginning to seethe.


Yahushi- Oh, yes.. The one that was caught on fire seems to be a human.


* Shura looks back at the screen again, then shakes his head.


Shura- Impossible. Humans can't live in this world for long.. Whatever, I don't recognize him.


* The next close-up is of Clint.


Shura- I know him.. He's that halfbreed son of King Enki's Chief of Security, Nekotama. His name is Felotama.


* Yahushi looks at Shura.


Yahushi- Really? Uh, I mean.. Of course he is!


* The next close-up is of a floating Jin.


Yahushi- This guy seems to control wind.

Shura- (Sarcastically) Oh, really?


* Then Shura suddenly hops down out of the chair and comes over to study the scene closer. He hits the pause button.


Shura- Wait! I recognize him! Yeah, that's Jin, the Wind Master.. My sources told me that he'd disappeared several years ago!


* Shura looks excitedly at Youda.


Shura- You remember him, don't you, Grandpa?


* Youda doesn't answer, but it doesn't matter to the young demon as he's busily backing up the footage.


Shura- Yes, I recognize this one now! His name is Touya, he controls ice.. Still not sure about the others.. That fox brought them here before the Royal Tournament to help Father!


* Shura begins to scan the footage forward. Mukakai glances down at Youda, but can't resist.


Mukakai- To help who?


* Shura glances toward Mukakai with an eyebrow twitching. Before Youda can distract Shura he pauses the video on a dimly lit shot that catches his eye. The early morning scene of Yusuke having his arm treated by Kurama.


Yahushi- That's the last shot I could get, the sun was starting to come up and I didn't want to be spot..


* Shura raises one of his hands toward Yahushi and quickly obliterates him in a burst of anger.


Shura- That can't be them..! Tell me those two are not still alive!!

Mukakai- T-Them, sir?


* Shura angrily points at the screen as he glares up at Mukakai.


Shura- That can't be the Fox and that koorime mutt!! I was told that they killed each other!!

Mukakai- I-It m-might be.. the other..

Shura- We controlled the other one!


* Shura turns and blasts the video machine as he continues his temper tantrum. Youda nudges Mukakai to move way back and give the boy plenty of room. Youda remains on guard, prepared to bring up an energy shield if they'll need to be protected from the angry boy's wrath.


Youda- Shura, get ahold of yourself!

Shura- They can't be alive!!

Youda- It could be other demons in disguise.. Listen to me and calm down, Boy!


* As Youda continues bravely admonishing him, Shura slowly begins to settle down. For several moments the room remains silent, then Shura turns to look toward Youda and Mukakai.


Shura- It really doesn't matter, you know.. I'll release my son and he'll destroy them all..


* Shura begins to giggle as he turns and moves back to the big chair.


Shura- Yes. I will destroy them with my greatest creation.. They won't even know what hit them.. Then nobody will oppose me..


* Mukakai and Youda both look at each other. As Shura continues to murmur about his "glorious victory" Youda motions for the general to leave the councilroom quietly. Shura is too caught up in his fantasy to notice. When Youda closes the door he glances all around then turns to look up at Mukakai who is continuing off down the hall.


Youda- General, I've made my decision concerning the creation..


* The general pauses, then hesitantly turns to look down at the older demon.
