Atsuko cried, craddling the God's head in her lap as she rocked on the bed. Kuwabara had laid Koenma in her bedroom and now Yusuke looked down at the motionless God. "What the hell happened? He had a protection spell on him." He said and noticed tears were flowing down his cheeks. 'He really was like a father. How the hell could this happen!? He was protected! God damn Yama!' Yusuke thought, clenching his teeth and his hands into fists. "What the fuck is going on!?" Yusuke yelled through the tears and sunk to his knees.
"Get Botan down here Kurama and Hiei. Now." Genkai said and the two went off to get the ferry girl. Atsuko sobbed and looked at them. "I thought he was safe! How could this happen!?" She wailed and Genkai sighed. "Yama must have gotten around the spell somehow. That bastard! We should have just let Koenma kill him while he had the chance." She said and Kuwabara agreed. "Yeah." He said quietly and Yusuke wiped his eyes hard. "Mom. We will get that fat son of a bitch back for this! I promise you we will!" He said.
Meanwhile Kurama and Hiei went into the castle and grabbed Botan. "What is it?" She asked and they looked at each other. "Guys? What's wrong? Tell me!" Kurama closed his eyes then looked at her. "Koenma's dead. Yama must have found a way to crush the protection spell on him." He said and Botan shook her head. "No. Koenma...." She sniffled and cried into Kurama's arms. "We need you to come to Earth and help us. We are going to get back at Yama for this." He said. "Of course." Botan said, joining them.
On Earth, Atsuko was silent now. She was just staring blankly, still rocking and holding onto Koenma tightly. Hiei and Kurama walked in with Botan they looked at her. "I can't believe it. He's really gone." She said, looking at the prince. "Yes. He is." Hiei said. "We need to get Shyian, see what went wrong." He said. "She didn't do anything wrong." Genkai said. "It went perfectly. Yama just...went around it somehow."
Botan perked up suddenly at a thought. "We can go to the other Gods to get Koenma back and protect you guys. They might help you." She said, her voice full of hope. "Do you really think so?" Yusuke asked. "Yeah. It's a thought. We can go there now." She said. "Where are these other Gods? We haven't seen them before." Hiei said. "They're in the Spirit World, just a different section of it. You haven't seen them because you only came to just one part of it." Botan said. "Let's go. It's worth a try. I can't stand my mother like this. Koenma doesn't deserve this shit either. Yeah he was annoying sometimes but, he was the closest thing any of us had as a father." Yusuke said and they knew it, even Hiei.
"Well come on then, before his soul is taken into the life stream." Genkai said. "Mom, we'll be back. We're going to get Koenma back for you." Yusuke said and they left the woman with the fallen prince. "I hope this works." Kuwabara said and they entered the portal, sending them near the castle. "Okay Botan, lead the way." Yusuke said they followed her. They went way past the little forest outside the castle and just found clouds. "Uh...Botan? It's just clouds." Kuwabara said and she started to walk to the edge and a shimmery blue path appeared.
They walked across it and seen land again on the other side. "So Kuwabara is that a ghost land then?" Hiei said and Kuwabara growled. "Shut up." He said and they started walking on the grass again. "There's the castle where we need to go." Botan pointed. It was similar to the other one but bit bigger. Botan opened the door and a ogre walked up to them. "Botan, haven't seen you around here for a long time now." He said. "Yeah I know. May we see Iia or Doreem?" She asked and he nodded. "They are both available. This way." The ogre led the way to a small looking door and knocked. "Sir, Madame. Botan is here to speak with you." The door opened and they all walked in.
Behind one desk was a female with silver hair and eyes, wearing a flowing blue silk kimono. "This is Goddess Iia." Botan motioned to her. Behind the other desk was a male with long whitesh hair in a ponytail and large brown eyes, wearing a dark blue kimono. "This is God Doreem. They control this side of Spirit World." Botan explained. Both were of human size, unlike Yama.
"What brings you here Miss. Botan?" Doreem asked, his voice soft and old. "We came to ask a favor." Botan said. "What is it my child?" Iia said, looking at them and Yusuke interrupted. "That fucking son of a bitch Yama killed Koenma because he didn't like him being with my mother! We want Koenma alive again, return his soul and put protection on him and my mom. I don't care about myself, as long as she's happy." He said and the two Gods looked at each other. "He killed...his own child?" Doreem asked in sheer disgust. "Yeah. He didn't want him with a human with a 'half breed'." Yusuke spat out.
The two Gods didn't say anything, just looking at each other. "Listen we didn't come all this way for a staring contest. If you won't...." Kurama said and Iia looked at them. "We will do it. We will bring Koenma's soul back, reviving him. Don't worry about Yama, we will punish him." She said. "What about protection?" Kuwabara asked. "It won't be needed. Yama won't do anything. Anymore." Doreem said. "Now go back to Earth. Let us take care of the rest." He said. "Really?" Yusuke asked unconvinced. "Yes. Now go along children." Iia said. "We are not children." Hiei huffed. "Well to them we are. Iia and Doreem are almost the oldest Gods here." She said.
"Well yes we are." Doreem said. "We need to get this done if you want Koenma back, so go now. Go!" He said more forcefully and they headed out with thanks. When they were gone Iia looked at her husband. "I will avenge my grandson Doreem. My daughters death may have not been confirmed to be by him, but my grandson Koenma's is. I will not let him do this anymore!" She said. "If he hates halflings why did he take your daughter to bare a child then? She was only half Goddess." Doreem said. "I am not sure. Her human half made her vulnerable to death. Koenma is about a quarter human so he is the same. Come we must hurry." She said and they stood together.
