“Shuuichi?”
He was trembling, Karasu frowned, ‘does he regret it?’ The redhead turned to him.
“Lord Karasu…” he murmured, “it is my wedding day…how can I-“
He choked on a sob, and his crimson bangs fell in his face. Karasu licked his lips, ‘I guess he does’
He hesitated then reached out and pulled the fox to his chest in a warm embrace. “I was hoping” he said into Kurama’s hair, “that I could dissuade you…” Kurama sighed and snuggled closer to the taller man.
“I-I” he bit his lip, he’d made a promise hadnt he? But the very object of his obsession was standing right here…NO!!!
“I-I’m sorry” he said “but I must”
Karasu froze, and a deadly glare found its way to his face.
“I see” he growled, roughly pushing the teenager from him, “and WHY must you?”
Kurama felt tears in his eyes as he was shoved away, “Karasu, I- but my mother and I- I have to live with my aunt and uncle—and—now where to go—NO CHOICE!” His sentences were broken up into sobs.
The crow’s scowl darkened, “stop it!… I can give you ten times more than what those society whres could ever dream of!!”
Kurama’s tear had subsided, but his eyes were still downcast.
Karasu’s hands balled into fist. It was hard to believe that just a few moments ago they were…
With one last look at the redhead before him, Karasu stormed out.
__With Karasu__
Karasu stormed right out of th chapel and into the rather large church garden, christened the Eagle’s nest, because it was located on top of a small hill right behind the church. Karasu sat under the large willow tree in the center of the garden. ‘Shuuichi…”
__Kurama__
He was ready to get married, ready to break his own heart…Ready to betray Karasu.
FUCK! Kurama stared cooly at his reflection in the mirror. HE looked like a groom who didn’t quite give a rats ass. ‘Damn Karasu! Kurama felt a clenching in his gut and a lump in his throat.
What Karasu did to him. Back in Boston he was pleasant, if not distant, polite, most certainly not rude, and of course, he always always remembered dignity. He was refined, calm, collected….always…He lived with never a thought that upset him…
But Karasu messed him up. That blasted crow made everything so damn complicated!
Kurama sighed, this was really going to suck!
__Yusuke__
“I’m telling you guys the boy aint right!!”
They were all in the Eagle’s nest. Jin sighed, “I’m not seein’ why ya-“
“YOURE NOT LOOKING HARD ENOUGH!!”
Botan shook her head, “Yusuke, Lord Kurama is free to marry whomever he chooses-“
“HE DIDN’T CHOOSE HER!!”
“Urameshi,” said Kuwabara, “I think its suspicious too, but there isnt really anything we could-“
“WE COULD BURN THE CHURCH DOWN!!!”
Botan, Jin, Kuwabara, Yukina and Touya stared at him. Hiei rolled his eyes, “contain yourself Yusuke” he said “this is sudden yes, but you’re not considering any cause—“
“KARASU!!!”
They started walking around. Yukina looked at Botan, “Lord Karasu is forcing Lord Kurama to marry Lady Juri?”
Botan sweatdropped, “no…You see Lord Kurama has been in love with Lord Karasu ever since he first arrived” she then turned and pointed accusingly at Yusuke, “and this ASS refuses to understand that Lord Kurama has finally moved on!!”
“Yusuke” said Touya “We have spoken to Kurama, but has anyone thought to speak to Lord Karasu himself?”
Everyone fell silent…
They stopped at the willow tree. “No way!” exclaimed Jin, “the wind around him blows harsh and cold”
“Bad poetry! Oh noetry!!” laughed Yusuke “Touya,” he said suddenly turning serious again, “he is one creepy guy, I’ve spoken to him once or twice” he shivered
Kuwabara and Botan nodded their agreement, and Yukina looked down slightly. Hiei scowled “he doesn’t scare me” he said
“Everyone is scared of him shrimp” said Kuwabara
“Scared of who?”
They all froze, chills worked up their spines. They turned and none other than Lord Karasu Covrin of the House of Crow, walked from behind the tree.
Suddenly, the church bells range, causing everyone, except Karasu and Hiei to jump. “It is time for the wedding…” murmured Yukina
Yusuke’s eye twitched, but the started for the church none the less. The teen continually glanced at Karasu, until finally the crow said, “do you have a problem?”
They stopped in front of the double doors. Yusuke’s glare hardened as he looked at the man he knew had hurt his friend. “what did you do to Kurama?” he hissed venomously
Karasu blinked, “what are you talking about?”
Yusuke’s glare didn’t subside.
Botan apologized profusly.
Everyone else stood silent, watching the tall dark gentleman for his response.
Karasu’s eyes were narrowed and glazed over. Without a word he turned and wlak inside, leaving the rest of them outside, either pissed, or just plain confused.
__Kurama__
The musci was starting! It was finally time!
He bit his lip, this was it… Why? Why bother? Why not go with… He looked down, IT DIDN’T MATTER ANYMORE!!
There was a light tap on the door, Kurama sighed, who was he kidding?
“come in”
“Kurama”
“Hiei?”
The redhead stared at the chibi dragon glaring up at him.
“Why are you doing this?”
Kurama grimaced, “youre not here to…”
Hiei frowned more and nodded. Kurama gulped, he’d been in this situation before. Hiei…Loved… “Me?”
Hiei opened his mouth, frowned, then closed it, “what?”
“Hiei” said Kurama “I’m flattered but….I’m getting married..”
Hiei sighed, “and what am I supposed to say? Congratulations you’re an idiot?”
“…Hiei”
“look, I know of your feelings for Lord Karasu, but-“
“Hiei” said Kurama not wanting to hear the rest
“Let me finish! Just because he turned you down, You don’t have to do this! There are plenty more people out there”
“People like you?” Kurama asked softly looking down.
There was a long pause, Kurama looked back up and was surprised.
Hiei was staring at him in… horror?
“Uhhhh, no” said Hiei cringing, “actually I was just trying to encourage you…OK I’m leaving”
“Wait!” said Kurama, “you’re not here to confess your love to me?”
Hiei shook his head
Kurama smiled, “oh, good.”
Hiei rolled his eyes, “we’re all sitting in the fornt row, but…”
And with that he left.
__Ceremony__
Hankies were dying and everyone was awwing. Juri Sauntered down the aisle in her white lace wedding dress. Every eye was on her, including her regretful groom.
‘What am I doing?!’ Kurama screamed in his head , ‘Oh shit here she is!’
They stood so close and the minister spoke.
__Karasu__
Watching him from the far corner, Karasu knew Kurama could not see him. He watched wistfully as Juri said “I do”
__Kurama__
“And do you Shuuichi, take Lady Juri as your lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?”
Kurama looked at her, then out at the room.
__Karasu__
‘I cant hear him do this’ Thought Karasu, making his way silently to the door. He turned to give one last look to his lover, and found that his gaze was met.
__Kurama__
‘He’s here…’
“I- I” Kurama gulped, “Oh FUCK this”
Ignoring that gasps earned frm the crowd, Kurama jerk off his jacket and strode down the aisle to his happy waiting crow.
